Well, since I've been on GOG I have seen a number of games get removed from the catalogue due to lost licenses and such.

Now, from what I've seen, the users who purchased those games didn't lose them (which is great!!!!) as they can continue to download them. I myself can still download CMR2005 and Second Sight, for example.

What I'm wondering is how other digital distributors do in these cases. Do the games remain for those who already purchased them or do they disappear?

At present the only other digital distributor I use for games is Steam, so my particular interest is what happens to games you own on Steam if they get removed from the Steam catalogue. But equally any info about other digital distributors would be welcome too.

Steam does the same, don't know about the rest, but I assume it's no different.
Most distributors just remove them from sale. So if you already have it, you get to keep it. I've heard some horror stories about Beamdog actually removing games from people's accounts, though. And then there was the D2D thing, but that one was a bit more complicated as the entire service went down.

Once you bought a game, here, on GG or on Steam, you can still Re-download it as usual. The only issue is that I think that you may not get support for some of them on some of these sites, but I couldn't say for sure about that.
Here's the list of games removed from Steam

And as it says, if you have one of these in your library, you'll still be able to download and play it normally.
I do believe there's at least one DD that has removed games from download, with the risk of spreading false rumors due to misremembering, I think some user here complained about Beamdog having done so.
