Slimcea: Well this is pretty reminiscent of when CD Projeckt decided to abandon their most loyal customers - people who bought Witcher 2 off GoG, and instead reward everyone else with a free copy of Witcher 2.

But hey, don't let the hypocrisy stop you guys from bitching about it :)
No one got a free copy of TW2. Free *backup* on GOG. Huge difference.

And GOG did reward all TW2 customers with a free update for the game - a big free update!

bazilisek: DRAMA QUEEN ALERT!

I'm not saying it wasn't a dick move by Amanita: it absolutely was. But let's not get too emotional about it. GOG has left its cosy little niche and entered a brutally competitive environment. This is part of it, like it or not. They want to play with the big boys, well, they have to be prepared, because the big boys play dirty sometimes.
This.

Do not compare this situation and that situation, as they are nothing similar in the slightest

GOG did not advertise their TW2 pre-order heavily and then on the day of release made the game available in a Bundle that you can buy for a cent

Would you make them pay twice if you were trying to sell games? The point of giving off-site purchasers a free copy on here is to encourage them to come here. It's just marketing. We still get better deals with more commonplace than most other sites.
Catfiiight!

Did GOG take your game when they decided to give backup copies of TW2? I know I still have TW2 on my GOG shelf so I don't understand how they abandoned you.
You know what, Roman? I completely agree.

CowboyBebop: +1 Gog has already posted on facebook that they'll come up with something tomorrow for the people who preordered Botanicula here. I plan on picking up some gogs this weekend to support GOG but none of the games I get will be Amanita games.
Yeah. but that's GOG's own effort and quite probably expense though. I doubt that Amanita had anything to do with anything positive GOG is trying to do right now.

gameon: This is "going to get ugly"
It already fucking is.

wormholewizards: Can't believe GOG.com was screwed by an indie developer. Way to burn your bridge Amanita.
What if Amanita force GOG to remove Machinarium CE and Botanicula from its catalogue ? ( contract )

imdwalrus: I can kind of see where the outrage of "I GOT RIPPED OFF" is coming from, but so far no one has been able to convince me it makes any sense.
You have a friend who has a car dealership. So far, he was selling second-hand cars only, but he currently decides to expand on the new car market, going for the new, hip hybrid cars. He strikes some deals with a few companies that he is allowed to sell their new models, and does a bit of publicity about it: "On sale, the 1st of January, the new, energy-efficient Mushroom vehicle, order now and you get 10% off the price". Then, on January first, the company that produces Mushroom decides that it is going to sell the Mushroom for 10% of the normal price itself, while your friend still has to honor the contract of selling it for 100%. Also, the company producing the Mushroom decides to throw in leather seats, a bike and a couple of concert tickets with every purchase.
Would you consider that a dick move or not?

QC: We certainly can't stop the bundles from being sold, nor can we force an appology of the devs or of GOG.
???

GOG did something wrong?

Not really, but they'll probably make a public appology anyway.
Damn, I just saw a Roman5 impostor at Amanita forums telling them to **** his ****!!

I don't think Amanita has anything to do with it either and whatever they decide is likely to be paid for only by GOG. GOG is just going to try to give something to the people who preordered here only to feel like they overpaid on release day. It might have been worth $10 but some would still feel cheated. I'm just going to buy more games from GOG this weekend than I might have before this fiasco started :)

QC: I think that would only work if GOG had an exclusivity deal, otherwise they can't really call the dev at fault.
You're confusing legally in the clear with morally right. Just because you're not going to get fined or jailed does not make everything you do okay.
Well, I just don't agree that there's any difference between this situation and the Witcher 2 backups.

If you pre-ordered Botanicula, you still have it. No one took a copy away from you. Same thing with Witcher 2. And you paid to support GOG.

Buy it from Humble at a cheaper price and get the soundtrack and a couple of other games as well? Likewise for Witcher 2 - buy it elsewhere e.g. Steam and get it possibly at a cheaper price with more community features / achievements and an extra DRM-free backup courtesy of GoG as well! Otherwise buy it off GOG and lose out some stuff to support them.

So if you guys didn't rage over that, don't see why anyone should rage over this.
