The war of twelve races.

Warlords Battlecry II, a classic RTS game telling the story of an epic struggle between the races of the fantastic world of Etheria, is now available on GOG.com for only $5.99.

Etheria is still at war. The twelve races have been locked in a struggle for centuries and it seems that they will never know peace. They hunger for power and dominion over the land. Some use brutal force and numbers. Others use magic and cunning or even battlefield technology. Each faction has its own strengths and weaknesses, all of which have become well know to the other over the centuries of conflicts. All of them have gathered an unfathomable military power. There's just one thing that seems unachievable: a lasting victory. Are you a leader capable enough to change that?

Warlords Battlecry II delivers a solid RTS experience that any strategy fan is bound to appreciate. With twelve distinct factions to choose from, a hundred and forty units you can control, and sixty seven regions to conquer, this game will keep you busy for many hours. There are even some RPG elements here, as the hero whose role you assume can complete various optional quest, and the units under your command gather experience and level up. If the main campaign is still not enough for you, check out the skirmish mode that delivers endless challenge, or even create your own scenarios in the provided map editor.

Are you craving for classic RTS action in a gritty fantasy setting? Pick up your copy of Warlords Battlecry II, for only $5.99.

DieRuhe: Any major differences between this and 3? (which I love and still play a lot)
I consider this one better than the 3rd. The gameplay is just better.

What is better about it?
Does anyone know if this version has a fan patch that ruins spellcasters? I really hated it about 3 and none of the new stuff made up for that stupid patch, they should have fixed bugs and kept the balance stuff minor.

It has more freedom about it. The 3rd is more story-driven, but in this one you get to do pretty much whatever you want, without any sense of urgency. Your purpose is to conquer all your opponents, kinda like in Total War.

Thanks GOG. I was hoping this was coming soon after seeing WB1 here. I'm not going to wishlist this, or wait for a sale. Like the Crusader series, Warlords Battlecry games are an instant purchase.
As a big, BIG fan of the series I just wanted to thank GOG for distributing a DRM-free version of the entire trilogy.

Just bought the 3rd game, now I own all of the WBC games on GOG.

Thanks again!

I see. Sounds good. Now if only we could get an online demo like Defender's Quest.

If you liked the 3rd or the first, then you'll like this one as well. I say , if you have some cash to spare, go for it.

Also, you can download a demo here:

keeveek: And Settlers 2 anniversary.

Ghorpm: Is it actually good? I admit I've never tried it, I just wonder... why fix something which is not broken? Yeah, I know, perhaps it's because I'm an nostalgic geezer but I love how Settlers 2 looks and I'm afraid that porting it into 3D kills its soul.
Quite simple really, they did not do any real changes to the gameplay, they just gave it a new coat of paint.

Thanks a lot! I'm perfectly fine with old visuals so I guess the remake is not for me.
Good release I've been waiting for this one for a while. Probably not very different from WBC3. My comparisons between WBC2 (which I have not played) and WBC3 (which I have played).

+ The music that I've heard from the demo was very good.

+ The campaign is dynamic not story oriented

+ The hero level up system is supposed to be much more free than in WBC3.

- "Just" 12 races. 3 1/2 less than in WBC3

- Some ugly colours on the grass and sea.

- WBC3 is more balanced than this.
Warlords!!!

I'm hoping one day we get Warlords III: Reign of Heroes. That game was awesome.

Great job, GOG!

Why go for some generic 3D graphics that looks like everything else when you can enjoy the beautiful 2D art in Settlers 2? I just wish that those f*** birds would shut up! There is something wrong with the birds in my GOG Settlers 2 game. They chirp on and on and on like a cacophony. I swear it wasn't like this when the game was new.

Won't happen. But indie developers should take heed. Browser demos really is the way to promote your game.

That annoyed me a lot as well. Bug fix patches\mods should be bug fix patches\mods and multiplayer balancing mods should be multiplayer balancing mods.
Summoned creatures just disappeared after a while because the maker of the mod thought they were overpowered. Bah. But the state the game was in before the mod was added was even worse since the random number generator was screwed. The artifacts your hero found was always the same one and spell outcomes were also always the same. GOG did choose the lesser evil by adding the mod to the game.

Thanks to the mod authour for fixing the problem, and no thanks to the makers of Warlords Battlecry 3 (or whoever was responsible) for selling the game in such a horrible state. (The people who bought it from Impulse and Steam were not as lucky as us.)

Anyway Ronninogitsune I have the solution to your problem. The mod author realized that not everyone wanted the balance changes so he posted a depatch to fix it!

(This thread should get stickied on the Warlords Battlecry GOG forum since many have complained about the changes to the original game.)

Ah yes! I hope we do get Warlords 2 and Warlords III: Reign of Heroes + Warlords III: Warlords Rising one day. I only played the demo of Warlords III back in the day and I remember not liking it because there were no tactical battles :-)
