RPG heroes fight in real time-strategy.

Warlords Battlecry, the real time strategy game that includes many role-playing elements to build a truly captivating fantasy war saga, is now available on GOG.com for only $5.99.

Barbarians, High Elves, Humans, Dark Elves, Dwarves, Minotaurs, Wood Elves, and the Undead--they all want the tears. Navarre, the white tear, and Lucifus, the red tear--these are the stones all want to posses. War is consuming the world, for those who have the tears gain the ability to give life, or give death. Choose your side, choose the path, and become the savior or doom of your world.

Warlords Battlecry is a great RTS/RPG mix that takes what's best from Warcraft II and Heroes of Might and Magic series, and adds it to the high-fantasy world of turn-base Warlords games. The game was created by Steve Fawkner, who not only committed to the gaming world by making Warlords and Warlords Battlecry series, but also by coining the term "role-playing strategy" in 2000 when the first game in WBC series was released--the very game you can get now on GOG.com with the soundtrack, game manual, and wallpapers.

Warlords Battlecry, the original "role-playing strategy" is available now on GOG.com for only $5.99.
MY GOD! YESSSS!

This made my day so much! :D
Was this really necessary? Since I saw that Warlords Battlecry 3 is here, I hoped that the actual Warlords games (especially Darklords Rising, although I never played Warlords 2 or the original Warlords 3) would come here. But instead, we get more RTS crap.

Yeah, I'd prefer the original TBS games myself. But I'm not talking about IV.

Just because you don't like RTS games, that doesn't automatically make WB crap. I like both the Warlords and Warlords Battlecry games, though I prefer Battlecry a little more. You're free to not like a game, or a style of game. I dislike my share of games/genres too, but I don't call them crap.
First 3, then 1, then 2?

Why? I mean, I'm not complaining, I love the games, but the release order seems a little odd.
I don't know this game (heard the name before). The graphics aged badly because of the glossy Killer-Instictish 3D pre-rendered models. Perhaps it looks better in-game (if it's very quick-paced for example) than in screenshots though.

Oddly, this happens more often than not in GOG.

Nice addition.

imaginarycastles: Ever since I joined Gog and saw that WBCIII (the worst in the series I think) was available, I've been waiting for the other two. Thank You!
Mm? What makes earlier ones better?

Licurg: Yay! :D
What, no Sacrifice plug? :-)
(that cracks me up)
Sold!

I've installed the Battlecry series on each new PC I've bought since they came out, along with the Infinity Engine games and Civ II. They're not quite on the same level as those others, but they are solid, well-crafted, and very enjoyable games. This means one less CD I have to treat as a family heirloom. :)

In this case, the first game had water and transports (ships and airships), which were removed from the sequels. Can't remember if there was actually naval combat or not, it's been a while.

2 had better graphics, and 3 had more races and units, and also titans, huge end-game mega-units that took forever to build but were just about unstoppable. But all three are worth playing.

This might just have been my favorite game growing up. That said, I already own the CD so I don't think I'll be buying it here (yet).

WBCIII never really seemed like a complete game to me. New races seemed kind of desperate (I mean, dinosaurs?) and the campaign could use some improvement. Also, I like the old hero system better. (there's also some weird glitches)
I have finished it several times, and it's still a decent game, but I tend to come back to WBCII instead.
I just Bought the First Battlecry and it crashes at startup with a standard Windows XP "This program has a problem and must shut down" message,so I recommend that people lay off buying it until this issue is resolved.

You sure the issue is not on your end? Why not start a question thread in the forum, give more details, and maybe someone knows what to do.
Man, now I just wished they started releasing Warlords 1 - 3.
