A true role-playing platformer experience that will unleash your inner munchkin.

Unepic, an awesome RPG/platformer full of loot, monsters, dungeons, and lots of nerd culture-based humor showing just how fun tabletop role-playing might get, is available 50% off on GOG.com. That's only $4.99 for the first week.

Daniel was one of those guys, who will argue with everyone for a chance to re-roll their character's stats. He would secretly add "+1"s to his equipment sheet when nobody was looking. Sometimes, he would "accidentally" knock down a cup of Slurpee on the table just to rearrange the characters setting on the map. And, boy, was he good at it! Maybe he had superior stealth stats and no one ever noticed his meddling, or maybe everyone thought that arguing with "that guy" was pointless. The important thing was: Daniel rocked tabletop role-playing. At least in his own opinion. But then, one dark night, as he left the table only for a moment, he was transported into a dark and ominous castle taken straight from a Game Master's most sadistic dream. Daniel would have to muster all of his skills and tricks to handle this ordeal. But, after all, he WAS the ultimate munchkin!

Unepic is a exploration and loot-based fantasy platformer that in its core is the ultimate tribute to pen-and-paper role-playing and nerdom. The number of times the game winks at fantasy gaming fans, TV show followers, bookworms, and gamers is simply uncountable. You will explore a huge set of dangerous stages with varied environments, vast selection of monsters, and even more incredible equipment to find and utilize against your foes. The GOG.com version even comes with some exclusive items, unavailable anywhere else!

If the way of the munchkin is your preferred approach to tabletop RPGs, if you appreciate nerd-culture references, if you love loot above everything else, it's time for you to start exploring the realm of Unepic, for only $4.99 on GOG.com! The launch offer lasts until Tuesday, May 28, at 9:59AM GMT.

Kinda irks me when people mention exclusive items then never actually detail what they are. Are these the usual GOG bonuses, such as wallpaper or are these in-game items? Please clarify!

tinyE: This thing is AWESOME! Just tried the demo. Lot's of cursing, blood, and even a nice slam on Warcraft all within the first few minutes. The mother ship has come for me. :D
Speaking about cursing. Why the bloody hell is the cursing censored and does anyone know how to uncensor that again?

Yes wallpaper, avatars, concept map and a soundtrack come along as bonus with this one.

This is a bit underwhelming. Isn't there enough of these types of games already?!

lukew: Looks very good. So good in fact that I may buy it on a whim. Can anyone tell me what the control scheme is like? I guess it would be too much to ask to be able to do anything with a mouse?
There is an option in "gameplay" to control the character with the mouse... but it's kinda strange in a platform game.
My mind is blown. This game is AWESOME.
Is this a roguelike with permadeath, or a more traditional save/reload RPG, or does it have checkpoints?

save/reload

It's a (manual) savepoint system. So no permadeath like in the roguelikes but also no automatic saving as in a checkpoint system.

Hi! They are in-game items. You can find two new items in the Zoran's shop.
Every time TotalBiscuit talks about Steam Geenlight he mentions Unepic.

In "easy" and "normal" difficult the game autosaves. In "hard" and "hard++" mode you must save the game in the central save point, just like in "the maze of galious", but without the need to write a long code in a notebook. ;-)
wtf is "the maze of galious" ?

Leroux: Haha, that would be as mindblowing as unrealistic. ;)

Unless someone was trolling, this is the mind blowing RPG you can expect shortly.

Schnuff: OK, as long as it is not something like this:
Oh, wait a minute, this discovery will end all the speculation and wishful thinking right now! Pool of Radiance confirmed! ;)

There can NEVER be enough metroidvania action-RPGs.

Licurg: The game is a parody. You're a cynical geek who gets drawn into a fantasy universe, and you play the whole game thinking this is the result of your buddies putting drugs in your drink.
I'll wait for one where you play as the fat neckbeard, not the angsty-but-handsome mildly-nerdy guy. That would be funny.

It's interesting that GOG has been changing their minds about certain titles. Maybe I should re-submit Speedy Blupi for consideration... ;-)

I won't complain about this even though "meh indie", but I WILL ASK ABOUT WIZ 8. I assume that we will actually get it Thurs. and then Chaos Overlords next week, which will be good!
