A true role-playing platformer experience that will unleash your inner munchkin.

Unepic, an awesome RPG/platformer full of loot, monsters, dungeons, and lots of nerd culture-based humor showing just how fun tabletop role-playing might get, is available 50% off on GOG.com. That's only $4.99 for the first week.

Daniel was one of those guys, who will argue with everyone for a chance to re-roll their character's stats. He would secretly add "+1"s to his equipment sheet when nobody was looking. Sometimes, he would "accidentally" knock down a cup of Slurpee on the table just to rearrange the characters setting on the map. And, boy, was he good at it! Maybe he had superior stealth stats and no one ever noticed his meddling, or maybe everyone thought that arguing with "that guy" was pointless. The important thing was: Daniel rocked tabletop role-playing. At least in his own opinion. But then, one dark night, as he left the table only for a moment, he was transported into a dark and ominous castle taken straight from a Game Master's most sadistic dream. Daniel would have to muster all of his skills and tricks to handle this ordeal. But, after all, he WAS the ultimate munchkin!

Unepic is a exploration and loot-based fantasy platformer that in its core is the ultimate tribute to pen-and-paper role-playing and nerdom. The number of times the game winks at fantasy gaming fans, TV show followers, bookworms, and gamers is simply uncountable. You will explore a huge set of dangerous stages with varied environments, vast selection of monsters, and even more incredible equipment to find and utilize against your foes. The GOG.com version even comes with some exclusive items, unavailable anywhere else!

If the way of the munchkin is your preferred approach to tabletop RPGs, if you appreciate nerd-culture references, if you love loot above everything else, it's time for you to start exploring the realm of Unepic, for only $4.99 on GOG.com! The launch offer lasts until Tuesday, May 28, at 9:59AM GMT.
Saw it. Bought it.
Oh hey, I didn't realize that there were GOG exclusive items. I hate that nonsense when Gamestop does it, and I don't hate it any less because GOG's doing it.

ShadowWulfe: What exclusive GOGtent items are there?
Interested in this as well. Not going to buy the game again just for them of course, but still curious.

GOG does it because Unepic did it waaaaaaay before. I have Unepic from a 2012 indieroyale bundle, and there was an exclusive item, too. Obviously, the dev cannot include the "Royale Ring" in the GOG version, so GOG customers get another special item, otherwise the GOG version would've been, in the eyes of some people, "objectively worse".

I don't see why not. Tropico 3 devs did it. The "Steam Special Edition" content of Tropico 3 is in the GOG version of the game.

But yeah, I get you're point that they're doing it because the game has already done it with other versions.

Well, it's one thing if the content is unbranded additional maps and costumes and quite another if it's literally "Royale Ring".
I declare this game great.

ok, I think my role as a fanboy in this thread is completed :D

I believe it only comes to the contracts.

Steam special edition of Tropico 3 was probably a limited exclusivety deal between two parties and when that clause expired, they could add extra content to all versions of the game.

Maybe this royale ring was exclusivety deal for unlimited period of time (what would be stupid, but it's indie devs we're talking about), or they are not aware of the fact they can add this item to all versions of the game.

It did raise my eyebrows. I hope it's a timed exclusive at most.

That was unexpected, but I can't say "My mind has been blown." because of this. So here's my question...why did GOG accept Unepic this time instead of months ago? This confuses me...but hurray, it's here and I don't have to buy it anywhere else.

Same here.
Although we both know it is a good way for both the game developers and the sellers to generate immediate purchases of a game. Just because people want to have all the items and a complete game they will buy with XYZ's exclusive bonus content.
I do not mind so much when it is a map / poster or other physical medium of boxed extra, but when it is actually part of the game such as a 'special mission' or 'exclusive pet' I do wonder why they bother. It only lends itself to harming the overall player experience when one person can have their 'epic' blabla and I cannot because I bought the same game elsewhere, or a week later.

I don't know ... every time I hear that "my mind's not blown yet" statement, I suddenly feel the urge to blow that person's mind with one of FTL's teleporting bombs. I wonder why? ;p

Several possible reasons. Either the reaction from the community convinced GOG that the demand for that game is higher than they had expected. Or the game was rejected on technical grounds which have been fixed in the meantime. We probably won't ever know exactly, and to be honest it's probably better if these details stay between GOG and the developer instead of being openly discussed in the net.

Any chance that those of us who got it via Indie Royale can get a key here, GOG?

It is just low level armor you can buy at the merchant but it is useful just for the first part of the game. I sticked to it for a hour or two and then there was way better stuff.
