A true role-playing platformer experience that will unleash your inner munchkin.

Unepic, an awesome RPG/platformer full of loot, monsters, dungeons, and lots of nerd culture-based humor showing just how fun tabletop role-playing might get, is available 50% off on GOG.com. That's only $4.99 for the first week.

Daniel was one of those guys, who will argue with everyone for a chance to re-roll their character's stats. He would secretly add "+1"s to his equipment sheet when nobody was looking. Sometimes, he would "accidentally" knock down a cup of Slurpee on the table just to rearrange the characters setting on the map. And, boy, was he good at it! Maybe he had superior stealth stats and no one ever noticed his meddling, or maybe everyone thought that arguing with "that guy" was pointless. The important thing was: Daniel rocked tabletop role-playing. At least in his own opinion. But then, one dark night, as he left the table only for a moment, he was transported into a dark and ominous castle taken straight from a Game Master's most sadistic dream. Daniel would have to muster all of his skills and tricks to handle this ordeal. But, after all, he WAS the ultimate munchkin!

Unepic is a exploration and loot-based fantasy platformer that in its core is the ultimate tribute to pen-and-paper role-playing and nerdom. The number of times the game winks at fantasy gaming fans, TV show followers, bookworms, and gamers is simply uncountable. You will explore a huge set of dangerous stages with varied environments, vast selection of monsters, and even more incredible equipment to find and utilize against your foes. The GOG.com version even comes with some exclusive items, unavailable anywhere else!

If the way of the munchkin is your preferred approach to tabletop RPGs, if you appreciate nerd-culture references, if you love loot above everything else, it's time for you to start exploring the realm of Unepic, for only $4.99 on GOG.com! The launch offer lasts until Tuesday, May 28, at 9:59AM GMT.
What exclusive GOGtent items are there?

Nice, now i will have to unsubscribe to the "this week on gog" videos because i never anticipated on a game release like this one. Please GOG dont use the hint thing if you are not absolutely sure it is going to be release in the first place thank you very much.

DeadlyRamon: Cool! My Spanish is very primitive, and I can only understand a couple of Catalan words (particularly those loanwords in English like cul-de-sac, paella, surge, and barracks), but to me spoken Catalan sounds like a mixture of Castilian Spanish and French!
avatar
P1na: Because that's what it basically is. Most languages are the product of combination among older roots and neighbouring languages, it's no surprise that there is a mix there. And it's quite a nice situation too, Catalans are in a priviledged position to learn both Spanish and French.
The great advantage of Catalans is that they can speak two languages that belong to very different families within the romance languages, they can cover a great amount of lexical roots by knowing both languages (that's not the case of Galicians, or at least not on the same degree, since Spanish and Galician are much more related to each other). In fact I've always heard that Spanish is close to Italian and that Catalan is close to French, but that's just a misconception due to their phonetics, they may sound the same to the average ear but the reality is that Catalan is closer to Italian than Spanish is.

Psyringe: 1. Is it really DRM-free now?
Yes. And Royale was also DRM-Free. The serial included is always optional.

Psyringe: Does the game use the entire screen now?
Yes. I prepared the game for HD.

Thanks for the quick reply! It doesn't happen that often that the devs themselves appear here, much appreciated! :)
Am I the only sick freak playing this with my character bare ass naked?

EDIT, 4 Hours Later
Yeah neither do I. :P I was just throwing that out to see if there were any sickos out there so that we could get them barred from the forum. We can't have freaks like that in here. Thank god I never do anything like that.

Bought it on Indie Royale, but will grab it here too, sooner or later.

Buenro-games: It seems like an epic version of Castlevania. In fact if they redid Castlevania and kept the same style (instead of going 3D), they should take some cues from here.
avatar
Kunovski: hmm, I've never played Castlevania, but I always thought that it's a shoot/smash/kill type of platformer, like Contra, only in a fantasy setting... does it also have such heavy RPG elements?

anyhow, I don't recall many games similar to Castlevania either...
Originally Castlevania was as you describe, but the series evolved into something more exploration orientated and incorporated RPG elements (levelling with stats and stat modifying equipment, sometimes a magic system).

But they haven't made one of those in a few years. =(
Dropped most of those elements in the 3D ones.
Sold! What an anticipation. I'm normally not into platformers, but this one has something extra, something I just can't resist.

Buenro-games: Of course Castlevania doesn't have RGP elements (other than being able to carry a few weapons) : D That is why this would be an epic version of Castlevania. You can watch Youtube Let's Play Videos of it to see why it would be like a spiritual successor. By the way, Castlevania itself is a spiritual successor of Ghosts'n Goblins.
You haven't played a Castlevania game in a while have you..?

Cool game, with a nice leveling system, cool spells and a mostly well-made difficulty curve (aside from a few difficulty spikes).
Also, it is hilarious, the game never takes itself or its sources seriously; however, its humor is sometimes too crude (there's more than a hint of toilet humor).

Psyringe: I'm not sure if these questions have been answered before (this thread is moving really fast), so sorry if it's a repeat question. There were two things that bothered me with Unepic, have those been fixed? I'm talking about:

1. The game used to phone home and require online authentication. Afterwards there was a bundle version that was playable without online authentication, but still required it to get all the features. Has this been removed in the GOG version, and can this game now be experienced completely without the need of online authentication? Is it really DRM-free now?

2. The game was barely playable on large resolutions. Instead of using the whole screen, it put black bars on all four sides, and the objects on the screen ended up too tiny. Does the game use the entire screen now?
I was an original supporter and got my copy from Indievania.

I'm still waiting for my unlock key. XD

ErekoseDM: how are the 'one time/ one use codes' for the bonus weapons being done in this version?
or is everything unlockable within the game without add on purchases?
Anyone have an answer to this?
Seems like a great game. It was in a bundle nearly a year ago so hopefully there is still a good-sized market for it.
