A true role-playing platformer experience that will unleash your inner munchkin.

Unepic, an awesome RPG/platformer full of loot, monsters, dungeons, and lots of nerd culture-based humor showing just how fun tabletop role-playing might get, is available 50% off on GOG.com. That's only $4.99 for the first week.

Daniel was one of those guys, who will argue with everyone for a chance to re-roll their character's stats. He would secretly add "+1"s to his equipment sheet when nobody was looking. Sometimes, he would "accidentally" knock down a cup of Slurpee on the table just to rearrange the characters setting on the map. And, boy, was he good at it! Maybe he had superior stealth stats and no one ever noticed his meddling, or maybe everyone thought that arguing with "that guy" was pointless. The important thing was: Daniel rocked tabletop role-playing. At least in his own opinion. But then, one dark night, as he left the table only for a moment, he was transported into a dark and ominous castle taken straight from a Game Master's most sadistic dream. Daniel would have to muster all of his skills and tricks to handle this ordeal. But, after all, he WAS the ultimate munchkin!

Unepic is a exploration and loot-based fantasy platformer that in its core is the ultimate tribute to pen-and-paper role-playing and nerdom. The number of times the game winks at fantasy gaming fans, TV show followers, bookworms, and gamers is simply uncountable. You will explore a huge set of dangerous stages with varied environments, vast selection of monsters, and even more incredible equipment to find and utilize against your foes. The GOG.com version even comes with some exclusive items, unavailable anywhere else!

If the way of the munchkin is your preferred approach to tabletop RPGs, if you appreciate nerd-culture references, if you love loot above everything else, it's time for you to start exploring the realm of Unepic, for only $4.99 on GOG.com! The launch offer lasts until Tuesday, May 28, at 9:59AM GMT.

Fred_DM: "good" or even "excellent" isn't really the same as "mind-blowing".
True enough. Which of the 3 games I mentioned is just "good" or "excellent"?
This should be right up my alley given that I love platformers and RPG's..buut...

Not aimed specifically at Unepic, but why are modern platformers zoomed out so far? I grew up playing Mario, I want to be able to see my protagonist easily, have him clearly identifiable (ie doesn't blend with in the background), and be able to see what I'm doing without squinting or spending 90% of my effort focusing on wondering where my character is.

I had this same issue with 99 Hells, and from what I saw of Fez it had it too.

DeadlyRamon: So, Francisco Tellez de Meneses , are you Catalan? Do you speak it fluently? Do you prefer that provincial language to Castilian Spanish?
Yes, I'm Catalan and I speak it fluently. In fact Spanish and Catalan comes from Latin sharing the same row, so they are similar languages. I like both of them, and I like to use them depending on the situation or who am I talking to. :-)

Good point. I can live with it because I always have my face right up to the screen but still that Is kind of a disturbing trend. It's a little off topic but with games like Settlers I intentionally use a lower resolution just to male the characters bigger.
Damn it. Okay I just tried it cause I was curious and it really is like that. Depending on what you select at the language screen it is eigther censored or not censored. Select German and at least all the fucks are censored, select english and everything in perfectly fine. I dunno about the other languages but since there seem to be plenty you might wanna check if the game thinks that your language deserves a censored or uncensored version of the game. And thats a crying shame cause from what I seen sofar at least the german translation is alright and I surely have seen a lot other games that had a higher budget but had a much more worse translation than this one :(.

nobody cares about censorship in Czech so I'm pretty sure Czech language will be fine :o) (it's probably been done by some volunteers anyway...)

What do you mean, 'all the fucks are censored'? Is the game translated into German or not? If so, is there no cursing at all in the translation, or is it just translated in a different way than what you yourself would have preferred?

- your character holds a lighter so you always know where he is
- each screen represents one "level" or "area" so it's pretty important to know to know if you're for example in a top left corner of the current area (to know where to go to get to other areas)
- this game has many long range weapons (be it bows or magic) so you need to see far away :)
great game, played it from Indie Royale

Cool! My Spanish is very primitive, and I can only understand a couple of Catalan words (particularly those loanwords in English like cul-de-sac, paella, surge, and barracks), but to me spoken Catalan sounds like a mixture of Castilian Spanish and French!
Great release
Insta-bought. It's another of those games like Evoland that prey on my nostalgia and nerdiness.
Nice release!
