dirtyharry50: Mac version blablabla
But you know it's DRM free ONLY on GOG.com? Meaning probably drm from Mac version has to be removed first. And when they do remove it, they need to test the game if it works flawlessly without it, and then you will have your Mac version with no extra charge.

Ah, at last.

This game has been on sale on Steam for what seems like forever, so I already own it. Now that it has finally made it to GOG, however, I will probably pick up another copy, eventually. Wishlisted.

ABH20: Any word on if the Worldmerge overhaul mod by youngneil1 works with the GOG version of the game?
avatar
Smannesman: Oooh that looks interesting.
What do you think, is there any value in playing the game without the mod first?
With mods that overhaul so much, it's usually recommended that you play vanilla first to get the intended overall experience.

The "blablabla" wasn't necessary. Thanks. You might feel differently if the roles were reversed. Lord knows, you make it no secret when you are unhappy about something around here, including in this thread but I guess that is not okay for anyone else? Is it only your concerns that are valid in your world?

I'm well aware of the obvious and there's no reason Topware could not have provided both versions in a timely fashion together. You wouldn't know this because you have never worked in software development but it is very likely the DRM system was the last thing added to a tested, working version and thanks to the wonders of something called version control software used by developers it is possible to choose builds from various points in time during a development cycle. In other words, it would not be hard to run a build that didn't include the DRM, a build that up to that moment in time had also been through QA. This kind of engineering practice and design is on purpose for a variety of reasons I won't go on about at length here but suffice to say, this is not the major undertaking you might imagine it to be for any development group that has its act together.

You have it backwards. In the process of developing this game, they would have set a goal for a release candidate that passes testing before adding a DRM system and then they would have run another QA cycle to validate that final addition.
Today's release is a great victory over DRM.

dirtyharry50: No Mac version released Paul, even though as I'd guess you know too - they are all available elsewhere.

Dzsono: The file paul.dll is used by SecuRom to activate games. Conspiracy? I think so!
I had noticed that before actually and had a good laugh thinking about the same thing!

and at the same time it would be a build that would include all the patches and be compatible with them? Yeah, right.
Excellent release! I still have yet to get and play the first Two Worlds game, but it's nice to see 2 come here, and what a deal. Wishlisted!

cyboff: all is nice... but.... but still there is something missing... something like... like... Mac version?
avatar
dirtyharry50: Yes. I am disappointed there is no Mac release too. Everything in this package is available for the Mac as well elsewhere, such as Steam. Why not here??? Somebody doesn't want our money???
if I remember correctly, it happened here some time ago with another game (Deponia?) already - and Mac version was just added a little later...

LOL, it is time to stop smoking that crack :D

Does this release completely remove the need to register the game or does it just remove the need to activate it on subsequent installs?
Dammit, I still have the first one sitting on my backlog pile, I don't need another... but I will get it anyway... 'cause that's what addiction is... thanks GOG.
I think its silly to complain about not releasing a MAC version. I am sure if GOG plans to do it they will do it as soon as it is ready. It seems like they release their MAC version in waves so just have some patience.
Here I was, thinking I would never see this game in a reasonable format in my lifetime.
Bought.

Just out curiosity -- as I don't venture much outside of GOG and am therefore mighty ignorant -- what's the story about activation limits?

Amen! Good God, those folks at Reality Pump sure stuck to their guns for a Loooooooong time with this "just PM us and well make sure you can activate your game again." BS

I'm glad they finally saw the light.
