Who the fuck is this crap being aimed at?

I can see the point, however tenuous, of the card thing in the first one, and I understand the scenes in W2 'setting the stage' in as far as the feel of the world goes, although nudity in a game certainly isn't necessary to portray it.. but doing a mocked up porn shoot, it's just tacky and pandering, not to mention time being wasted making it.

So who is it supposed to impress? It's an 18 game, so, in a perfect world, it's only adults that would be playing the game and I don't know many adults who are hanging out waiting for this kind of thing, so it basically being aimed at younger teens who are still at the giggly stage with this kind of thing, and they shouldn't be playing it anyway.

I'm rapidly becoming less and less impressed with CDP.. Yes, the new content is nice, but the mistakes and bad decisions they are making along the way, from the BS that the game's priority was the PC, to the stupid comments in interviews and now this?

Where the hell is CDP's head at?

Because as far as I am concerned it takes what should be universally considered a mature and thoughful experience and gives it a gutter level spin. It's childish and tacky.

I bought my copy of The Witcher 2 off Amazon, and IIRC it was a "special" copy somehow, as in it included a DVD with the making of The Withcer 2 and the audio for the Official Game Soundtrack, as well as the official game guide.

So, do I install that on my system (I was waiting to install it for the EE to be released) and then somehow update it here???
OR
Do I just put the CD key into the GOG redeem thing here and download GOG's version and never even bother with my CD (I guess it will be like a backup in that sense, since I can't resell it since I will use the CD key)???

Will the GOG version contain all the latest patches???

I'm assuming there will be additional patches with the new material, so how do we handle that??

The auto launcher takes care of all patches needed. The GoG version does have version 2.0 in it. But at the moment I think when you download the game, you will download the enhanced edition. At least that's how it looks like in my library. Then again I pre-ordered the digital premium edition here.

Okay, thank you. Does anyone else know if how future patches will be handled?? Will GOG include two downloads at that time, a small one that patches an existing installation and the large one that would be the updated setup file??

I just would like to know because it's such a huge file that if I have to download the whole thing everytime there is a patch I'd rather just wait until I think the last patch is out and then download it.

EDIT ADDED: OOPS, didn't see that last part in there, my bad. I guess the game will have an in-game check for updates and do it that way??

Sometimes if there are difficulties, GOG puts the patch in the game's filelist. But updates for the witcher generally go through the launcher. Then again I do believe GOG updates the installation files as patches come out. But i'm no expert.
Congrats to CD Projekt RED and GOG.com for the Enhanced Edition, and thanks for making it available to all previous customers at no additional charge.

From what I could remember and what I found, full installers were made available in these versions:

* 1.0
* 2.0
* EE (not sure which version this is)

Standalone patches were made available at these patch levels:

* 1.0->1.1
* 1.1->1.2
* 1.2->1.3
* 1.3->1.35
* 1.35->2.0
* 2.0->2.1

The standalone patch for the Enhanced Edition is available from here:

The page doesn't (currently) say, but it sounds like that patch is for retail and digital distribution versions of the game.

Sorry if this has been asked elsewhere before, but I've had this issue for some time now. How does one go about setting up the Downloader to download multiple files at the same time?

Every time I've tried to set up a few files for that purpose, it just goes one at a time. Attached is a screenshot of my current settings for it.

I just clicked on that link, typed the code in from the back of my manual, and I've now got The Witcher 2 showing up on my shelves.

So easy even I could do it!!!

This is just awesome. I mean, having an "update" like this without charging extra is in itself awesome, but to then let folks who bought it elsewhere get the GOG version as a backup too is just doubly awesome.

Currently Downloader's concurrent connections don't split between files in the queue - it's only one file at the time in multiple parallel sessions. However, parallel downloads in multiple connections are in the Downloader's roadmap :)
