It's a human ant colony!

Looking at an anthill one can't help to admire the excellent workflow managment the little insects so effortlessly achieve. Something that's entirely out of reach for any human corporation, community, nor army comes absolutely natural to them. Every ant seems to know its exact place in the big scheme and in any given moment it does exactly what it's supposed to be doing. Now imagine, that it's not an anthill you're looking at, but a human settlement, and it's not the insect hive mind in control but you. Kind of makes you drunk with power, right? Is it much more combat oriented than S2 was, or did they just do a really poor job of choosing screenshots for the game? Also, there doesn't seem to be any roads in the game, is that true?

I never really cared for S3, by the way.

Crosmando: Settlers II is still the best of all of them, never played the first one I think it's a DOS game.

Also, massive decline that GOG seems to have regressed to only releasing 2 games a week.
You mean this week. Or can you look into the future? Just wait some more weeks and then you can say what you want to say here.

Finally! :) Been waiting for ages for this game to come out on GOG!
Definetly one of my all-time favourites.

It it true that the ultimate goal of your buildings is to produce soldiers... But it isn't really that combat oriented(more balanced than S3), the only thing is that you can control your units yourself.

Then, there ARE roads... The only thing is that you don't need them. Your settlers will automatically transport ressources from A to B using the shortest route possible. If a road is frecuently walked on, a road starts appearing, making your settlers walk faster on them.

I mean, editing a game card involves a lot of work... I might have to use ancient esoteric HTML code to do this kind of major edit...

Love this game, just bought it on Rom a few weeks ago. If anyone finds a good walkthrough page that [i]isn't[/I] in German please let me know. :P

Great release, but you made this mostly a strategy week. You could've released Legend of Kyrandia or Conflict: Desert Storm for other people, if you know what I mean ;) ;)

In all fairness, S4 tends to be the least strategic of the series, at least from what I've played. There is a lot more "get your D up, pray you can survive the attack, build again, send in more guys than the other guy has." :D

S4 is basically a boosted S3. Just like S3, roads are automatic and soldiers are controlled. But it's not a combat RTS, it's just that you can move soldiers. The different soldier types is VERY minimal. Attacking/flanking enemy territory and basic patrolling/defending is pretty much it.
A scenario usually ends with a military takeover, otherwise it's all build strategy.

You could also argue that S2 was the last real Settlers game :p
