Which covers all language versions of the addon, according to Wikipedia:

That's probably it. I don't think there was an English version. Totally odd way of doing business. Not translating into English but Czech, Russian and Polish.

Awesome! Just recently this game came up on the forums somewhere (possibly another community, though) and almost nobody seemed to remember it. There's probably not a single other settlers game that I'm as interested as in this one. Great release!

According to Wikipedia, the Vikings expansion was only released for the German, Czech, Polish and Russian versions of the game :-(

Wow. Other than the first game, this is the only Settlers game I don't own. Awesome addition. Wishlisted for now but will be buying very soon.

Did you really have to wait while I buy this game elsewhere for 2 times???

Of course I'll buy from you, cause I'm a die hard GOG fan, but that's a bittersweet release for me.

Anyway - this is a great game, worth each cent

I already have this game but if it included the expansion then I'd buy it for sure.

Back then and after a quick search I found that there is a very simple cut-and-paste way to PARTIALLY patch the expansion into English and it actually works (no crashes or stuff like that), however there are bits and blobs that still remain in German (or whichever translation you used to install the expansion) making it more of a DIY thing than an official release. Too bad I never could find the expansion though :p

As long as GoG cannot afford to actually finish the translation themselves I can't see it being added here, which is a shame if you think that this would be the very first and indeed only place to be able to get an English version of the ENTIRE game...

I never played this version, but I have Settlers 2 Gold. How does this game differ from Settlers 2 besides the graphics?

So does this make the original 1996 Settlers 2 completely redundant or are there still reasons you might want it? (different content etc)

besides online two-player? (original only had split-screen). Not really. There have been done some tweaks and optimisations to the economy system. Some say it is slightly easier now, I say it is more playable. But the changes are not to noticeable, to be honest.However, it just runs much smoother and faster, and I also found it more stable, last time I tried. The maps are also different.

The new graphical engine is the main selling point, but I think it is well worth it - it is an improvement. This is a much better version then original Settlers II.

Hmm shame it wasn't an upgrade like the Stronghold titles for instance. But Bluebyte and GOG need to make money too. I'll not complain, but doubt I'll buy this version. I like S2 as it is, although the multiplayer could be fun.

Gonna put on my contemplating cap =)
