vulchor: I'm more than a bit disappointed that this is not the complete (deluxe) edition of the game. KingArt and Nordic need to treat this community better.

That said, I've been excited to try this game after playing Book of Unwritten Tales and Critter Chronicles and was a fan of both. How does this game stack up to that series?
avatar
zavlin: whats in the deluxe version???
It has a soundtrack and making-of booklet and stuff. The game is the same.

I personally am glad that I'm not stuck paying $5 extra for a bunch of stuff I don't want, but see no reason GOG shouldn't give people the option, a la Dragon Commander.
avatar
Crosmando: I wonder if there's a chance an option to buy/upgrade to this "deluxe" edition might happen?
I might buy that if that was an option. It tends to need a FLAC music option and I pull the trigger and get a soundtrack etc. Maybe I should get it here and later at some stage on a 75% off promotion get it on Steam to get the extras.
Sweet - added to my wishlist for when I'm feeling rich! ;-)

HypersomniacLive: My dear Nordic Games Team,

Why does your finally released on GOG.com latest adventure come so... bare bones? :(
Don't you know that we're spoiled and want extra goodies?
Thank you all for your feedback - currently it is a GOG-strategy not releasing episodic games before the full experience is available - this was the reason why I am at least glad to see it here now.

In terms of Digital Extras - we have a Digital Deluxe Edition which costs a little bit more than the Standard Edition - due to GOG policy that their customers should not pay for such extras we could not add them unfortunately - of course we are not able to give those extras for free on GOG.com if on other platforms people are paying for them as part of the Digital Deluxe Edition (our goal is always releasing both Standard and Digital Deluxe Editions if available and possible but we also understand that GOG policies are part of their success and do respect them).

Hope you are enjoying the game anyways - KING Art did a great job on that title and Agatha Christie would be proud ;)

Cheers
If anyone is interested, the guys who made this game are also working on a Battle Isle-style turn-based strategy called Battle Worlds Kronos which they funded through Kickstarter, which should be coming to GOG too.

I've been enjoying the beta of that, actually, as I'm one of the backers. :)

Ah that one, I had got a little late to finding out about that one and missed the kickstarter cut off. Though I'd not associated them with the Critter chronicles games. Damn even more have kickstarter supported them now.
Seriously, guys, what the heck!?

I've been waiting for this game to come to GOG ever since I first heard about it and saw it available for sale in lots of digital stores (everybody and their mother was selling the season pass... except GOG). As a fan of Agatha Christie, the premise of the game really looked interesting and almost made me choose the pre-order dark path... only restrained myself because I didn't have enough free time to enjoy it and I would prefer having it on GOG, instead of creating another account elsewhere.

So, imagine my disappointment when it finally arrives here and it's the watered down version, with just the game! Come on! GOG guys, you already have displayed the ability to sell different editions of the same game (Dragon Commander), which is exactly what you should have done here, so why not giving this chance to your clients?

Here's what you get in other stores for just 5$ more:
Soundtrack
Story book (plenty of background info and artworks)
“Making of” booklet
Papercraft mask of The Raven (printable)
Digital poster (printable)

ThomNG, sorry for this, but I would imagine the third King's Art release would be the charm and we would start seeing better releases from you guys (I haven't even bought the BOUT series, I'm still waiting for an "upgrade" of the versions), but, no, we get another "light" release...

GOG, I don't know whose fault is it, but get your act straight, I want to have this game and give you guys money, but you don't seem to want my money...

So it's pretty good then? It looked good in the videos.

Thanks for responding. I can understand both sides, and I do not want to see GOG start selling two editions. I just wish GOG would have ONLY sold the deluxe edition. I love the goodies, but I don't buy from hardly anywhere else other than GOG. I especially don't buy if there are restrictive rights management schemes.

WireHead: GOG, I don't know whose fault is it, but get your act straight, I want to have this game and give you guys money, but you don't seem to want my money...
GOG should really only sell the complete editions, just like with the old games. There were multiple editions of many old games, but GOG only releases the GOLD editions which are what I want. Why not do this with new games as well? Especially since many people WAIT for GOG to get the games before purchasing.

In this case, people that just wanted the game probably would have been buying them per episode on Steam. When allt he episodes are available, GOG should sell the complete package plus all the goodies available. No 'light' edition, no purchasing per episode. It makes the most sense for the dedicated GOGers, the ones that stop here everyday. We are the customers that probably give GOG the most money anyway. I have over 220 games or collections on here.

I enjoy collecting these games and as such want only the complete editions of things when possible.

Yeah. It's still missing a lot of text, but it seems to be mostly feature-complete.

Thanks for the reply. And as much as I dislike negativity on releases, I have to agree with WireHead on

It's not just another "light" release, it's the lightest ever - The Book of Unwritten Tales had a couple of extras, then The Book of Unwritten Tales: The Critter Chronicles had even less, and now The Raven - Legacy of a Master Thief has none.
With all due respect, King Art/ Nordic Games start to feel a bit too pricy, especially on GOG and I'm not sure I'd just put the blame on GOG's policy of "no additional cost for extras".

Especially on GOG? The no-extra GOG version costs exactly the same as the no-extra Steam version costs exactly the same as the no-extra Gamersgate version.

I understand that different people want different things, but I can only reiterate, as a response to the last few posts, that I am personally glad that I'm not being forced to pay extra for a bunch of out-of-game stuff that I don't care about, and would never even look at.

I would certainly say, though, that it's hard to reconcile GOG's alleged "no paying for extras" policy with this nonsense.

As much as I love point-and-clicks, this is a bit pricey for me
Price is a steal for such a brandnew game including German original version with a top-class cast, but I would love to buy the Digital Deluxe Edition on GOG too.

Anyway, it's great to see the resurrection of THE ADVENTURE GAME COMPANY and I hope, we will see their recommendable Agatha Christie adventures on GOG soon - the very well-made German versions included, of course. ;)

Good point indeed.
