Matruchus: Arcen games only use standard game keys like they were used before drm came. You just insert them and you can play(no onlice activation). This is used mainly because most Arcen games come in a form of unlockable demos.
So there is a demo for this?
'scuse the language but where the fuck does gog say this is still in alpha? You just sold me a game on false pretenses

Not at the moment but it will be available like for other arcen games. There is data about it from the website of the company where system recquirements are labeled. It is possible that its not released yet cause steam version of the game is not yet relased :)

First game released first on gog. com instead of Steam :)

The game had alfa/beta testing finished before release.

Ok... the game clearly shows it being in version 0.990 Alpha. The official wiki even says the game is still in alpha.

Well I checked it out in the The last Federation forums and they say they did only the so called alpha phase gamer testing. They had the alpha phase from beginning of january till the release. They don't do beta testing. I think the misunderstanding might be because Arcen Games continously supports their games and adds features like with AI WAR who has now a new beta phase 5 years after release. I think just their labeling is misleading since AI WAR was finished long ago and I own it and know the game. AI WAR is a game with five expansion and is still being expanded and thus in beta phase by Arcen games definition.

Niggles: hmmmmm.Interesting. Argh.Another one where soundtrack isnt included.
Said soundtrack can be found at

http://arcenmusic.bandcamp.com/album/the-last-federation
If it's anything like their past games the soundtrack is actually in the game folder. .ogg format.

Glad to see they aren't going Steam-only for this release. I'm hoping the demo comes out when they release the game on their site.

Well if that's the case someone needs to upload the proper version of the game if they say it's released.

.ogg soundfiles are in \RuntimeData\Music folder :)
Never heared of this one but i'm intrested. To which games is it comparable?
Interesting release. The artworks are nice. The game reminds me somehow Ring Runner.
GOG got really lucky with this game. It's been out for what- 7 hours or something now on gog and it's not available anywhere else at all, not steam, not greenman gaming, not humble store, not even Arcen's own website.

The reason is supposedly that they contractually can't launch on humble until it's on steam and steam is hours late for <some reason>. Not sure if that's the same reason it's not on greenman and their own store.

Whether you think it's a good or a bad thing, it feels like they deliberately gave gog a head start.
They recently got a reliable Linux updater working for their games, the lack of which was why their recent games have been Steam-only due to Steam being able to update on all platforms.

Now that they have one it can eventually be applied to their previous games.

In other words, AI War: Fleet Command and Bionic Dues are probably coming to GOG sometime in the future.
This looks great, but I currently have too many strategy & rpg games that I haven't yet played.

And 9 more games bought on various special today.

Wishlisted!

I listened to the soundtrack on Bandcamp and it's actually pretty good ;-)

I must say this game is one of those that you will play for 10 or more hours before you can win one campaign. And you can basically do what you want to do and the game is quite user friendly although it is a bit complex. You can expect plenty of space battles. You start by introducing space faring technology to undeveloped races. But in order to do that you have to fight the blocade around the undevoloped planet in order to reach the droop off point for the technology drop. Then you can try to develop the planet, technologies, economy, you can raid pirate convoys, destroy pirate bases, help build up space forces of that planet, you can help build up friendly ties with other races and on and on. There is basically no limit to what you can do. And mind that Arcen games is known for supporting their games all the time. For example AI WAR is still getting more and more features 5 years after release.

Oh, that I don't forget to mention. Anybody who bought the game can download a new version of the game in the main menu since there was already a new update today :)

Vow just looked on Steam and the game is not released there yet. It says that this game is not available at the moment. Way to go gog!
