The Dark Eye gazes upon you!

The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav, a classic adventure game with gorgeous hand-drawn graphics, set in a gritty fantasy world, is now available on GOG.com for only $14.99. That's 25% off until next Thursday, November 29, at 10:59AM GMT.

The world might be filled with magic, but for the ordinary folk it's still an obscure and frightening force. In everyday life there are only little sparks of mystical powers present, and most people don't even recognize them when they see them. Very seldom a commoner wields any magic power at all. So that little bit of power makes Geron, a teenage orphan raised by the town's huntsman, very special. He would consider it a gift, but his only magic ability is to break little things, so it seems more like a curse. The townsfolk don't even see anything magical about him. They just consider him unlucky and clumsy. But, due to some particularly nasty twist of fate, it's up to Geron to save the whole kingdom and solve a dark mystery that's been brewing right under the king's nose.

The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav delivers a story so full of nostalgia, that it instantly stands out from the contemporary crowd of light-hearted fantasy adventure games. There's little place for puns and sketches here. The world you face is harsh, and the people you meet in it adjusted to it. It doesn't mean, however, that you won't find friendship and warmth on your way. That wouldn't be a good story, if it were so.

Longing for a serious fantasy story with beautiful visuals? Don't wait--get The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav for only $14.99!

Rincewind81: Not anymore. That was a "funny" thing. If you had a german IP Gamersgate and Greenmangaming would offer you the Steamworks Version for 39,99€. With a british IP they would selling the english only Securom Version for half the prize. This stopped some weeks ago and they are offering the Steam Version for everyone to a reasonable prize.
you don't need a British IP to access the British store of GamersGate...
I just wanna say all you people getting bent out of shape cause *gasp* it's not in the original language please stop getting your knickers in a twist. I'd much rather have something in my native language than the developers because I'll actually be able to understand/enjoy it. It's not quite like watching anime with subtitles (those people kinda get on my nerves, too) but it's pretty similar reasoning.

If you want the German version that badly, you'll get it from Steam or whoever has it. There's plenty of us who don't give a flying monkey and will enjoy it just fine in English provided it was translated by people who can actually speak it. Ah, I still remember "All your base"...

Anyways, I'll probably pass on this for now. Daedalic has a habit of making games I can't run on my computer, and I'm willing to bet that this'll follow that trend. I can wishlist it, sure, but nothing will come of that until I can afford a better computer, and that won't be for a long time.

Wishbone: I just watched the trailer for this game, and while I agree that the graphics style is tremendously beautiful, the voice acting is absolutely horrible.
It's a Daedalic Tradition! :D Like all those Resident Evil games with their unintentionally hilarious dialogue, before they started trying to take the whole thing too seriously.

amcdermo: Does this game feature an evil satellite navigation system?
Maybe I'm old but what do you mean by that? O.o

Now, I'm trying to be diplomatic here, but right now you are really projecting the stereotype of the ignorant US-centric American, who is mostly unaware that there is anything outside the borders of the US of A. Go back through the thread, look at the posts that deplore the lack of a German language version, and pay attention to where the posters come from, why don't you.

Um ... for most people who complain about it, German actually is their native language, not just the developers'. Would you] rather play the games developed in your native language in German translation? Besides, that's totally beside the point, since noone is asking to replace the English version with the original one. And I don't think I read that people would rather have no version than just the original one either. But in the end, using your own logic, would it really matter if the English version was on GOG or not, seeing that whoever wants it "that badly, you'll get it from Steam or whoever has it"? :P
Oh, GOG, why do you do this to me? This is, I think, the third time that you've released a game the day after I bought it on Steam (because it was on sale there). :-(

Nice use of generalization and stereotyping yourself, I suppose. Assuming that because I don't give a damn that it isn't in the native language, I must not care about stuff outside of the US.

Why is it, then, that I watch anime at all, or love JRPGs, or all kinds of games that aren't made in the US. I mean, you are so way off the mark it isn't even funny. I've seen this sort of "omg it isn't in [language] so I'm not gonna buy it" remarks on GOG the last couple years it's getting ridiculous.

I definitely enjoy watching a Japanese film in its native language, and if you enjoy watching or playing something in its native language that's great. But don't go around saying "you won't buy it" or "aren't interested" if that option isn't available. Be glad we're getting it at all and stop sounding.. so friggin' "entitled".

Ugh, I feel like I have to rinse my mouth out for having used that word. :/

Wow, you read neither what I wrote, nor what you wrote yourself. That's kind of impressive, I guess.

Now go back, look at what I quoted, and specifically what I highlighted, then read my reply again, properly this time.
this is from one of my favorite games, drakensang. man i love those games. i shall see if i love this one as much.

Moral of the story: don't buy anything from Steam unless it is the last 24 hours of an at least -75% off deal.
No money T.T and i want to buy this game... oh well :(

Yes, I will. Because the lack of the native languages is one of the biggest problems on GOG.com, and I wanna make sure the staff knows how strongly many people feel about it.

Slightly off-topic:
The good nes is, that there is a very good chance we're going to get the German version for Gothic soon.

The last couple of years? Which games did they refer to, care to provide any links?

First off, what use would there be to complain that the options is not available, if it actually was available?

Second, what's the difference between telling the world you won't buy it because of lacking language support and telling the world you won't buy it right now because it won't run smoothly on your system?

And third, let me hand you some soap, the taste of that word must be really awful, seeing how many people spit it out on a daily basis just to belittle valid customer criticism just because it doesn't advance their own interests. ;)
I'm no hardcore gamer of the dark eye, but I've loved Drakensang + Drakensang: The river of time, so I'll get this as soon as possible. Thank you !
Glad to see this game here, especially as the Daedalic rep wasn't that sure it would be possible to release it outside of Steam.
