The Dark Eye gazes upon you!

The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav, a classic adventure game with gorgeous hand-drawn graphics, set in a gritty fantasy world, is now available on GOG.com for only $14.99. That's 25% off until next Thursday, November 29, at 10:59AM GMT.

The world might be filled with magic, but for the ordinary folk it's still an obscure and frightening force. In everyday life there are only little sparks of mystical powers present, and most people don't even recognize them when they see them. Very seldom a commoner wields any magic power at all. So that little bit of power makes Geron, a teenage orphan raised by the town's huntsman, very special. He would consider it a gift, but his only magic ability is to break little things, so it seems more like a curse. The townsfolk don't even see anything magical about him. They just consider him unlucky and clumsy. But, due to some particularly nasty twist of fate, it's up to Geron to save the whole kingdom and solve a dark mystery that's been brewing right under the king's nose.

The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav delivers a story so full of nostalgia, that it instantly stands out from the contemporary crowd of light-hearted fantasy adventure games. There's little place for puns and sketches here. The world you face is harsh, and the people you meet in it adjusted to it. It doesn't mean, however, that you won't find friendship and warmth on your way. That wouldn't be a good story, if it were so.

Longing for a serious fantasy story with beautiful visuals? Don't wait--get The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav for only $14.99!

jamyskis: On the topic of Steam, wasn't this Steamworks-exclusive until now?
It had achievements. Without multiplayer I don't know what else makes a game "Steamworks".

The fact that all versions - retail and digital - forced Steam upon you.

In any case, I've wishlisted it here for now, but I'll wait. ComputerBild Spiele has had a habit of bringing out Daedalic-published games shortly after release on their cover disc.

Nice wiselisted also i wonder if this means we'll get A New Beginning sometime in the future?

TheEnigmaticT: Did you take the survey in October? Then you should have Realms of Arkania 1 + 2 on your shelf at this very moment.
I did, and I have, but like I said, I've never played it. Since the title doesn't include the words "The Dark Eye" (and it seems from other comments made here that none of the other games did either), then I suppose it's not surprising I've never heard of it.

Only RoA 1 + 2?

Cough

And in RoA 1 you can still run around without pants (guess which is my favourite in the series)

The day I spent a single dime towards the Axel Springer media group is the day my hand will wither off my arm.

Says the guy who praises Valve and Amazon consistently (and constantly finds excuses for the former's behaviour).

Your hostility towards the Springer Group, Metro et al. seems to have less to do with ethics and more to do with some unfounded hostility to anything physical media.

Comparing Valve and the Springer Group? Sure ...

And I don't buy books on Amazon ;-).
Yeah, this is my question too!

The Gamersgate version is an exception, though - it uses SecuROM.

Not according to this.
My first thought was, "A classic game for $20? People are going to be pissed." But it turns out that when you say "classic" you mean "released this year," which I consider a little early to judge. It does look interesting, though.

I just watched the trailer for this game, and while I agree that the graphics style is tremendously beautiful, the voice acting is absolutely horrible.

It's SecuROM for the version on the GG UK site (change .com to .co.uk).
