The Dark Eye gazes upon you!

The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav, a classic adventure game with gorgeous hand-drawn graphics, set in a gritty fantasy world, is now available on GOG.com for only $14.99. That's 25% off until next Thursday, November 29, at 10:59AM GMT.

The world might be filled with magic, but for the ordinary folk it's still an obscure and frightening force. In everyday life there are only little sparks of mystical powers present, and most people don't even recognize them when they see them. Very seldom a commoner wields any magic power at all. So that little bit of power makes Geron, a teenage orphan raised by the town's huntsman, very special. He would consider it a gift, but his only magic ability is to break little things, so it seems more like a curse. The townsfolk don't even see anything magical about him. They just consider him unlucky and clumsy. But, due to some particularly nasty twist of fate, it's up to Geron to save the whole kingdom and solve a dark mystery that's been brewing right under the king's nose.

The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav delivers a story so full of nostalgia, that it instantly stands out from the contemporary crowd of light-hearted fantasy adventure games. There's little place for puns and sketches here. The world you face is harsh, and the people you meet in it adjusted to it. It doesn't mean, however, that you won't find friendship and warmth on your way. That wouldn't be a good story, if it were so.

Longing for a serious fantasy story with beautiful visuals? Don't wait--get The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav for only $14.99!
very happy this is on gog. This game is a truly neat adventure homage to pen&paper roleplaying. I love the english voice acting for nuri, and the story is really nice. On a more neutral note, it has perhaps the most bizarre (and flat out inappropriate) easteregg i have ever seen.
Great game.. Added to my wishlist because I already own it on Steam... Would love to have it DRM-free on some promo.
Definitely buying at some point - for now, wishlisted.

Well it definitely looks good so it's going on the wish list for now.
Looks interesting, thanks.
Never heard of it, but it looks awesome. It may have to wait until after Christmas, though.
Is it necessary to be familiar with the pen and paper game, or other games before that were set in The Dark Eye universe?

No, this is standalone. Realms of Arkania 1,2,3 are connected and Drakensang + Drakensang:The River of Time - Gold Edition (a.k.a. Drakensang 2) are connected. They are all based on the same pen&paper license (they all take place in the same universe), but independent form each other.

JMich: More Dark Eye is always good, right?
Yes Dark eyes and Sat Navs
Oh no, I'd hoped for no more games this week, but as others have remarked, that art is nice. Very nice. I'd not be showing all due respect if I didn't go buy it now and then play it several years later as I don't have the time. :)

Oh and to the debate on language I fully support those who lament the lack of their language version when it is available else where. It is a real shame. To those who don't get it think of it this way. All the games are in Chinese, you aren't really that fluent in Chinese, it isn't your first language and doesn't feel 100% natural. You speak English as your first language, the game was made by English developers, yet all you can get is Chinese.
Empathy people, put yourself in someone else's shoes. I don't blame GOG I believe they would have put the other languages up if they had the rights to.
I already own a retail copy of the game, but I will instantly buy it again on GOG to get rid of Steam when the German version becomes available.

The problem in this case is not specifically that the game is not in German for comprehension's sake, but that the game was actually originally in German and there should be an option to play the game with its original voice acting.

Look at it this way: when you buy a Hong Kong action movie, do you watch it with the original Cantonese and subtitles, or do you watch the appalling English dub?

I think you people are making too big a deal of these things.

I really don't mind playing Little Big Adventure 2 in english even thought I'm more fluent in french and the game was initially released for french audience.

Boycott the game if it is only avaiblable in a language you really don't understand or understand a little, but don't boycott it when you're clearly fluent in english.

You might as well boycott all non-german games while you're at it...

You know, not buying something is not the same as boycotting it. I don't buy dresses, since I'm a guy and not a transvestite. That doesn't mean I boycott dresses, I just don't buy them, since I have no interest in them.

If someone, especially native German speakers, are not interested in buying an English dub of a game that was originally in their language, what's it to you? Who are you to tell them what they should and should not spend their money on?

And if they tell GOG (and indirectly the publisher) why they are not buying it, then something could possibly be done about it, securing GOG some extra sales. On the other hand, if they simply kept quiet, then GOG would be none the wiser.

One of the most valuable things a company can get is people telling them "if you do this, I will give you money". For example, that's the philosophy behind Kickstarter. It is a way of minimizing risk to a project, by ensuring ahead of time that people are willing to pay for the finished product.

And yet, all the people here criticizing the posters asking for a version already available elsewhere, seem to think that under no circumstances should GOG be told that there is a demand which people want to pay them to satisfy. Presumably, they somehow think they're "defending" GOG by doing so, when in fact they're doing quite the opposite.
German, please! I've not bought this because until now it was only available with Steam-DRM. I'd buy it instantly DRM-free with added German language. So gog.com and Daedalic: It's your turn!
