Puts the “fun” into “funtasy adventure game”!

[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/the_book_of_unwritten_tales]The Book of Unwritten Tales, a wonderful and incredibly well-written point-and-click adventure game that spoofs almost every existing fantasy cliche, is now available on GOG.com 10% off for limited time. That’s only $17.99 until Tuesday, August 7 at 09:00 AM GMT.

The creators of The Book of Unwritten Tales are that masters of one very difficult but highly-valued genre of humor: parody. The game light-heartedly spoofs countless fantasy universes, drawing from books, movies, and games (although it focuses most of its punches on a certain popular MMORPG;)). Some of the characters are well aware of their predicament of being a part of a computer game, so expect the fourth wall to be shattered into small pieces before you reach the ending credits.

In The Book of Unwritten Tales you control the cast of unlikely (but very much likeable!) heroes using a classic point-and-click interface. They visit countless puzzle-packed locations--each beautifully presented in lush 3D graphics--that combine into a large and detailed gameworld. The adventure consists of five lengthy chapters interpersed with many top-notch cinematics, so the game guarantees hours of story-driven fun that will leave you craving for more.

The Book of Unwritten Tales--a splendid adventure with great voice-acting and heaps of witty punchlines will have you laughing out loud like a gleeful goblin for only $17.99 for the next 7 days.
Think there are more important topics than the named release date - which is - in the case of this title - really just a point of view throughout the different territories. It is even more important that it is a fantastic game for a fantastic price ... if you want to read some reviews, just have a look at metacritics: http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/the-book-of-unwritten-tales

I agree. I was just confused initially. Thanks for clarifying it for me in your response earlier.

I look forward to grabbing this sometime. I'm not sure when, but soon hopefully. It's actually the only Nordig Games game that I don't have on GOG, well, except Gothic 3, which I have on disc.

Thanks again!
I actually hoped that the German version would be included.

Now that I have seen that it was also released on Steam I kind of regret buying it here on GOG, especially becuase there is a digital deluxe edition on Steam. :(
That's hilarious. "We would never go skiing!" Nice to see some goofy humor.

Trilarion: Yes, I definitely played through some years ago. They should fix the date to be more accurate.

adambiser: Nordic Games actually commented on that here. This is the worldwide release.
That's a nice little bit of spin but it is still a 2009 game, now with new localizations. Not to put it down though. I think it is a good value at 20 bucks for 20 hours of quality entertainment. Having seen the trailers and read some reviews it looks good to me and I plan to purchase it at some point.
Good on ya GOG for bringing new point and click adventures to the site!! These are my kind of games and will go on my wishlist. Keep up the good work!

I don't think it takes 20 hours to play through, maybe 12-15 or so, but it has a good length for a p&c adventure.

Got this for £1.99 off of game.co.uk's website a while back. Good game but the puzzles are largely easy.

Leroux: Oh, okay, if this game was brought to GOG by Nordic Games, who's already a business partner of GOG and only responsible for international, English language releases, that might explain why GOG has no access to KingArt's German version. Still sad though, I'm not as interested in the translated version without the original one included.

Bavarian: Doesn't explain the lack of multilanguage support for tons of other games here on GOG.
On seeing that Nordic Games is listed as publisher on Steam, too, and that over there the German voiceovers are included, I take back what I said above. Unless anyone officially comments on the lack of multi-language support on GOG, I'm just going to assume that it's part of the deal. Booh! >:(
LOL - I always think it's funny when the developer or publisher shows up on GOG, as they must think we're an incredibly "tough audience", always bitching about what we like and don't like :)

Still, Nordic Games can also guarantee, if we buy it, play it and love it, we'll be equally as strident about how amazing the game is/

And, btw, although I won't be buying it just yet, on either GOG or GamersGate, I have to say to everyone The Book of Unwritten Tales is supposed to be one of the best point and click adventure games released in the last few years. I don't think I've heard a negative thing about it, so if you like point and click games, it's one every collector should have, IMO. I will get it in the next couple of months, it's just not in the budget right now :)

Don't worry about it. They're over at worldofgothic.de too, and that's really an audience that's hard to please.
I too am rather disappointed in the lack of German language support. Especially as I just saw that both languages are available on steam.
As much as I hate to say it. but this is the one thing that steam is a thousand times better than gog, multiple language support.

Can somebody at least explain this, why Steam gets the German and English language and gog doesn't? (Directed equally at the publisher and gog)

Please include the original language of a game!

SLP2000: Finally, this game belongs here.

ne_zavarj: It's also released today on Impulse and on Steam .
And Multilanguage on Steam. Come on GoG. Stop ignoring your customers. You read the forums but ignore all language related posts. Try to explain your policy. Is the additional webspace to expensive? Why do you, at this point, offer less than every other competitor in the market? I mean, goodies are fine, but offering the games in all available languages is more than that...

I thought "GOG.com is made by gamers, for gamers."

This.

I really would like a statement from Gog why they keep releasing german games without the german language. And the answer "it wasn't possible to get the german version" doesn't count, since other international publishers prove that it is possible!
This is actually a very good game, and surprisingly funny as well (I could say something about German games and humour, but... well, let's just call BoUT the exception that confirms the rule).
