Puts the “fun” into “funtasy adventure game”!

[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/the_book_of_unwritten_tales]The Book of Unwritten Tales, a wonderful and incredibly well-written point-and-click adventure game that spoofs almost every existing fantasy cliche, is now available on GOG.com 10% off for limited time. That’s only $17.99 until Tuesday, August 7 at 09:00 AM GMT.

The creators of The Book of Unwritten Tales are that masters of one very difficult but highly-valued genre of humor: parody. The game light-heartedly spoofs countless fantasy universes, drawing from books, movies, and games (although it focuses most of its punches on a certain popular MMORPG;)). Some of the characters are well aware of their predicament of being a part of a computer game, so expect the fourth wall to be shattered into small pieces before you reach the ending credits.

In The Book of Unwritten Tales you control the cast of unlikely (but very much likeable!) heroes using a classic point-and-click interface. They visit countless puzzle-packed locations--each beautifully presented in lush 3D graphics--that combine into a large and detailed gameworld. The adventure consists of five lengthy chapters interpersed with many top-notch cinematics, so the game guarantees hours of story-driven fun that will leave you craving for more.

The Book of Unwritten Tales--a splendid adventure with great voice-acting and heaps of witty punchlines will have you laughing out loud like a gleeful goblin for only $17.99 for the next 7 days.

Adzeth: 20% off and it's $17.99? So the original price is $22.49..
That just sounds like heresy. 22.5 is exactly the kind of number you use to pick on the devout :p
It's $19.99 on GamersGate and likely to go on sale in their summer sale in the next three weeks too so, although this game is at the top of my "must haves", even at 10 percent off, it's too expensive.

Sorry GOG.

ETA: Sorry, it's $29.99 on GamersGate so, yes, GOG is cheaper. But......with the sales GG ends up with, it will probably still be cheaper there eventually. And, it's been up on their site for months, so a very late entry for GOG.

It's 10% off (20 ==> 18)
Anyhow, too expensive for me.

Yes, post-correction. :p
This is a great game! My friend recommended it to me. The voice acting and graphics are great. I've played with the english voice acting and it's just fine. A tad pricy but that game is not that old and for an adventure game, it has a decent length. If not for the above, get it for the laughs, because it has a lot of humor in it!

Oops, my bad.

SimonG: From what I've gathered, the game received exceptional praise for its voice work. In German. GOG really needs to secure those language licenses.
BoUT is an awesome game, and I second this. It's rare enough that the German voice acting is good ;-)
avatar
Lifthrasil: Again without the original language (German). That is really a shame. Please, Gog, try to get games in their original language too, since most of the time something is lost in translation (especially where humor is concerned). So I won't buy games that don't include the original language (as long as I'm fluent in that language).

Can someone clarify, that the german voices are included?

yes, but since it's from a german developer you can expect that i guess.
Looks nice, but i don't really like adventure games.

There are, very very very few games that come from German devs with good German VO. I would says that 95% of the time even then English VO is superior.

It was like that in the news post at the very beginning as well, but they edited it out.

No, they are not, I'm afraid. As of now we can offer you the English version only. The mention of the German version was a mistake, that we have corrected--not as promptly as we have hoped, I suppose.

Hm... the text on the promotion page doesn't mention German language now, neither does the game page.

edit: too slow...

Then again, the GamersGate release has "Other DRM", whatever that means.

Also I'm sure the GOG DRM-free version will also get its 50% or 60% discount at some point, it isn't like I'm in a hurry getting this (or any other) game anyway, due to the existing backlog.
