This is what an actual saga looks like.

The Banner Saga, a unique Viking-themed role-playing game with solid tactical combat mechanics, beautiful 2D graphics that look nothing like any other modern title, and a captivating heart-touching story, is now available 10% off DRM-Free on GOG.com, for Windows and Mac OS X. That's only $22.49 for the first week.

The Banner Saga invites you to live through an epic role-playing Viking saga where your strategic choices directly affect your personal journey. Make allies as you travel with your caravan across this stunning yet harsh landscape. Carefully choose those who will help fight a new threat that jeopardizes an entire civilization. Every decision you make in travel, conversation and combat has a meaningful effect on the outcome as your story unfolds. Not everyone will survive, but they will be remembered. The game offers you with a variety of over 25 playable characters from 2 different races, human and varl, the horned giants, and your choices in combat will have consequences for all whomever you choose to lead into battle. With the beautifully hand drawn combat sequences and animations, accompanied by an evocative score from Grammy-nominated composer Austin Wintory, the game will immerse you into a fantasy realm inspired by Norse mythology. Make sure to pick this one up, as there are very few modern games as original and engrossing as this one.

Embark on one of the most awe-inspiring journeys that modern gaming has to offer, and take a plunge into the beautiful snowy landscape of The Banner Saga, for only $22.49 on GOG.com. The 10% off release discount offer lasts until Tuesday, February 12, at 10:59AM GMT.
Does this version comes with any of the pre-oder exclusive content?
There needs to be more games involving Vikings.
Waiting for my backer GOG key... ;-)

Soulkin: you could have mentioned that the game includes (the dmg file for mac users) the 29 song soundtrack that normally costs 9 euro at amazon ;)

It's finally here!
I've been checking the site daily hoping to see the release announcement for this title. It's finally here, and I'm downloading now.

Thank you GOG and Stoic for finally releasing this version.
Ahhh! I just spent my money on the Sid Meier's humble bundle....

Really looking forward to this one though!

According to extra's (5 avatars and 3 wallpapers), no.

Oh, you probably ment these: exclusive character Tryggvi, a Pearl Necklace item that grants a 10% chance to do double damage in combat, and three exclusive tracks from Journey composer Austin Wintory. Someone else has to answer that but I somehow doubt it.

Does this use Unity?

duffymoon: Hmmm. £23 on Steam or $22.50 here DRM-free...if only I was better at currency translation I would know which to buy

mattymuc: You forgot the irony tags ;-)
Alhough I´m one of those "Sarcasm just cannot work on the internet"-guys, I think that this comment is so well done that nobody can miss the irony in it!
@Topic:
Ultra-Hot-Price for such a game; although I´m pretty broke I had to instabuy it ;)

Nicole28: Very nice! So that's why the site was a little jittery.
Yeah, I was wondering if there was a significant game incoming.

I was just hoping it would be something more significant, like any of the iD back catalog or perhaps an MS game.
Waiting for my GOG key too.

Yes, for the Windows version, the OST is found in the game folder in .mp3 format. :)
Ho hum. I'm really interested in this game, but... if I buy it that means my newly self-administered gaming allowance for the month will have been already expended. So, sadly, wishlisted for now until a future (better) sale; there have been already a number of barely touched games I bought for near or actual full price in the last half year that I could have bought for less since. Gamer on a currently low budget and all that. =/

"The shieldbrake saga" ;)

Visually great and good OST but gameplay and story building wise didn't really impress me...
