This is what an actual saga looks like.

The Banner Saga, a unique Viking-themed role-playing game with solid tactical combat mechanics, beautiful 2D graphics that look nothing like any other modern title, and a captivating heart-touching story, is now available 10% off DRM-Free on GOG.com, for Windows and Mac OS X. That's only $22.49 for the first week.

The Banner Saga invites you to live through an epic role-playing Viking saga where your strategic choices directly affect your personal journey. Make allies as you travel with your caravan across this stunning yet harsh landscape. Carefully choose those who will help fight a new threat that jeopardizes an entire civilization. Every decision you make in travel, conversation and combat has a meaningful effect on the outcome as your story unfolds. Not everyone will survive, but they will be remembered. The game offers you with a variety of over 25 playable characters from 2 different races, human and varl, the horned giants, and your choices in combat will have consequences for all whomever you choose to lead into battle. With the beautifully hand drawn combat sequences and animations, accompanied by an evocative score from Grammy-nominated composer Austin Wintory, the game will immerse you into a fantasy realm inspired by Norse mythology. Make sure to pick this one up, as there are very few modern games as original and engrossing as this one.

Embark on one of the most awe-inspiring journeys that modern gaming has to offer, and take a plunge into the beautiful snowy landscape of The Banner Saga, for only $22.49 on GOG.com. The 10% off release discount offer lasts until Tuesday, February 12, at 10:59AM GMT.

Crosmando: Does this use Unity?

Niggles: Why do so many indie games use unity? Only cause its free?.
Unity Pro costs $1500. But I guess it's the built in tools for 2D and 3D, built in graphics engine so the devs don't have to program a game renderer from scratch or license the use of an existing one like CryEngine or Unreal for e.g. And the fact you can do this in your web browser and Unity web player is pretty amazing:

Bloodygoodgames: The game looks great but, at this rate, I'll never know for sure :)

Pheace: What's wrong with playing the DRM-free copy you can download as a backer?
I've got games on so many other places I'm just not signing up for yet another website so I can download another game.
Lately, every time I have I've managed to lose my sign up details as I use different ones for each website (too many hackers around nowadays!!).

I'll just hold off until they get things sorted out with GOG as it keeps everything in one place :)

iWi: As a GOG.com's internal guy I probably shouldn't be saying this, but I am really excited with this release and proud we are able to deliver it in 100% DRM-free version. Finally :)

Tarhiel: That´s why I love GOG´s employees - you are genuinely excited about your own releases :)
"employees" :-D

JMich: Yes
Hmm, if only they didn't require proven experience.

Destro: FYI there are only 2 people like this on GOG :)

triock: Yeah, but you're not "New User". ;)
I was not talking about myself - the account I was talking about belongs to one of CDP co-founders :)

Whats wrong with Unity?
And i think its only the non comercial version that is free.
If you want it to make games for consoles and a few other things i think it costs money.

You can sell games made with the free version commercially provided that you are not a commercial entity with annual gross revenues exceeding US$100,000.

The free version doesn't have all the features though. Most annoyingly, some extremely rudimentary stuff including "render-to-texture" and "stencil buffers" is in the Pro version only.

Silverhawk170485: Did they say that backers will get GOG keys?
avatar
Niggles: Correction they have download link for KS backers up for a direct download, the dev posted it on the drm free thread on Stoic forum. But aside from that, no mention of gog etc..
From Update #47 (Backers only) :
A DRM-free version of the game is under development now and we are still working with GOG to distribute soon. This will also be available to all backers even if you downloaded a Steam copy.

This can be read two ways though...
[...]we are still working with GOG to distribute soon. This will also be available to all backers even if you downloaded a Steam copy.

Or...

A DRM-free version of the game [...] will also be available to all backers even if you downloaded a Steam copy.

To be honest, personally the latter would seem the most likely under normal circumstances. That said, if they worked with GOG to add GOG keys for them, that would be pretty sweet of course.
