A song unlike any other.

The Ballads of Reemus: When the Bed Bites, a comedic fantasy adventure with cartoon graphics and peculiar humor, telling the story of a spiritual predecessor of all of the QA specialists in the gaming industry, is available on GOG.com for only $4.99.

Out of all the clients I ever had Reemus stands out like a unicorn in a hog pen. Or, to be more precise, like a hog in a unicorn meadow. Don't get me wrong--he was a swell guy and all, trying to be remembered by the future generations, like we all do. The problem was, that by any account he should have been known as Reemus the Unremarkable. I mean, when you're just a simple bug-catcher it's not easy to catch a break at fame. Especially, if your dragon-slaying brother hogs the spotlight all for himself. Sure, bedbugs bug everyone in the kingdom, while a dragon will only munch on some sheep and an occasional virgin every now and then, but still--slaying one dragon gets you famous, while squishing a billion insects only gets you a pint of mead and a warm dinner. Not fair? That did not stop my friend Reemus, though. He took a chance and got the best minstrell in the kingdom to immortalize his deeds. He got me. Liam the Purple, the most gifted bard of the bearkind. his deeds. Turns out, his deeds weren't as insignificant as anyone thought, and I made damn sure to immortalize the heck out of them.

The Ballads of Reemus: When the Bed Bites is a fun adventure game inteligently making use of popular fantasy tropes to tell an unlikely story of a man whose destiny was not to become a hero. With fully voice-acted dialog, nice cartoon graphics, tons of good lighthearted humor, optional side-quests, and many clever puzzles, this little adventure gem is guaranteed to bring a smile on your face. Full MP3 soundtrack included!

Help one motivated bug-catcher to secure the place he deserves in folk legends and the songs sung by the tavern fireplace in The Ballads of Reemus: When the Bed Bites, for only $4.99 on GOG.com.
Keep the point and clicks coming GOG! Thanks

Leroux: Bearing that in mind, it's quite polished and good for what it is though, and I really enjoyed it because it's comparatively easy and entertaining. Not the most spectacular adventure game I've ever played, but IMO more fun than many of the big ones. I can recommend it to fans of the genre, if you're not averse to something humorous and a little more casual.

And it's cheaper here than on Desura (but Desura has a demo you can try).
Thanks Leroux. It sounds like it's going on to my wish-list. I do love adventure games, hence it's a bummer if they were to end shorter than it needs to. Hence my earlier question. Although as another poster pointed out, it's not quite brilliant of me to associate a file size size with any kind of length of play.

PMIK: Weren't the wizardry games released in the last 6-12 months too? And Driftmoon? And thunderscape? and ....
avatar
JudasIscariot: Yes, the Wizardry series was around September I think, Driftmoon was a while back I think, a bit longer than 6 months IIRC, Thunderscape was a bit after Wizardry.

Keep in mind I don't keep the exact dates in my head :P
How could you forget? :O

Wizardry's were released in late May!

Now give me a cookie ;D

Elmofongo: Well I am lucky I got Mechwarrior 3 on disc which is arguably considered the best Mechwarrior game.
avatar
TheEnigmaticT: Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries. It's the best of series.

(IMHO. But I'm also right. :P)

Edit: Fun (?) fact: the lead producer on Witcher 3's brother was the senior producer on MW2: Mercenaries. So they carry on a tradition of awesome.
YESSS. I loved that game! I played Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries through and through at least a few times within a WEEK. It was the first real mech sim I ever played and I just couldn't get enough. I destroyed my keyboard playing that game because I remember always pounding my "move" command key ;D

When I can finally score that here, I can die a happy gamer (only to be resurrected a moment later for the next great release).

You get an ENIGMATIC COOKIE! I know it's your favorite :)

I have some tragic news.....I have yet to play the Witcher games, mostly because of my brother who uses his Desktop more often than me. And I have an increasing library of games.

I cannot wait to get my $1,385 Desktop thats powerful enough to play Star Citizen at max. If it can play Star Citizen it can play The Witcher 3?

Nicole28: The file size is a little tiny for an adventure game. How long is it?
As has been mentioned, the game is a bit short maybe, at least for a more experienced player.

But I don't think anyone said yet that there are unlockable ballads that you can do after the first playthrough. In plain English that means that there are a few casual kind of achievements. These include a secret area in one of the game scenes, collecting hidden items throughout the game, etc.

Game length rarely translates to game quality (check The Shivah, etc.), and this is a very good, entertaining and funny game. I would recommend trying this game, if cartoony adventures are not on your ignore list.

FAIL!
Move your mouse around the screen until it changes. Click it. Repeat for 90 minutes. Game over.

TheEnigmaticT: That I.P. is so very, very hosed. Which is a shame, because I really want Mechwarrior games on GOG. Alas, no. :(

Thats a kid game rather then true point and click.
But it reminds me that kaptain brawe might as well join here if this game got here.

Looks humorous, but I'll wait a bit before getting this. Picked up a few PnCs over the weekend sale.

I've tried to say all the great things I could about the HE classics so I won't repeat myself and will just post Lewis Black instead - http://i.imgur.com/ahlQbM4.jpg.
Hey look! Another indie!

Not now though, I'm trying to beat Flight of the Amazon Queen at the moment :P
