Tex Murphy has entered the building!

Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure marks the triumphant return of everyone's favorite trenchcoat wearing, fedora bearing private detective, Tex Murphy! Thanks to the power of Kickstarter and legions of devoted fans, Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure is available now--DRM-free on GOG.com--for $19.99! (We're so happy about this that some of us are squeeing like little girls!)

The year is 2050. The place: New San Francisco. Someone has made sure that our rough-around-the-edges hero has forgotten the events of the last seven years. What appears to be the world's worst hangover is just the beginning of Tex's troubles as he tries to recollect just what the hell happened. Stuck in a maze of unsolved murders and hidden agendas, Tex must solve the mystery of his own past and that of the lost technologies of Nikola Tesla. Can Tex regain his memory in time to restore what's been lost and stop a terrifying future?

If you have a hankering for old-fashioned FMV with a modern flavor, sleuthing while dropping some pithy one-liners, then look no further than Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure available NOW on PC and Mac, DRM-free for $19.99 on GOG.com!

Important notice!
The Tex Murphy Video Contest is now CLOSED. We are drowning under a torrent of awesome entries and we will announce the winners soon!

billygreen23: Does anyone know if there's a video out there that summarizes the plot of the Tex games up until Tesla Effect?

It's been a long time since I played UAKM and haven't played some of the others. It would be great to get a refresher with video clips, as opposed to just reading the plot on Wikipedia. Thanks!

Damn, should have pre-ordered this here instead of backing it on Kickstarter... Now I'm apparently stuck with a Steam code I have no use for.

You can find lots of items in the game that trigger memories presented as video clips from the previous games.

I think they said they're mailing out GOG keys afterall.

As of right now, I've not seen anything official stating this, but since we know that GOG passed the keys to ATLUS, and last night ATLUS passed the keys to BFG, it would be incredibly low of them to NOT send out the GOG keys to us.

On both the Kickstarter site, and in the BFG forums, they have indicated an update is forthcoming.
It's official, there will be GOG keys for backers. Glad this got resolved.

Can't wait to see all the giveaways. This cost BFG a lot.

It's great to hear the GOG keys are coming, but sadly, I think StingingVelvet is right. A lot of members will trade or give away the extra copy, possibly cutting down sales of the game.

They should have given the backers a choice between Steam or GOG, not both. But in the end, it's all up to the backers to decide what they do with the codes given.

What do you mean? They didn't have to pay for the keys.

No, but giving the backers 2 keys can potentially cut down sales - if the backers sell, trade or give away the extra keys.

Oh, that's what he meant.
I really hope that will not happen. I suppose there's nothing stopping anyone from giving them away, but there's also nothing stopping anyone from putting the game up on a torrent site. Some people choose to be assholes.
I hope people won't give them away - it would be very poor form especially considering BFG really need every dollar they can get if we are to see another Tex Murphy game in the future. I'm sure Atlus is expecting some solid sales as well for their investment ... . It would seriously be a shame if the game was a commercial flop - which would be really sad since the game is ridiculously cheap for the value you get out of it.
It looks like Tesla Effect is not selling very good anywhere yet :( hope that the backers will not simply give away their keys. I've already activated my steam copy and I will do the same with GOG version. When there will be a sale like 50% OFF I will support the game by buying 1 or 2 giftable copies for somebody.
