Jacques7Chef: Can you guys please, please, please, have Night Dive Studios, or yourselves, GOG, sell or port this to Macs as well? It's the only computer I own to play games on!

P1na: But anyway, just to go back to what this topic is about, I did buy the game, I enjoyed it, and I beat it. Hope that makes you feel better. I wanted to try defeating the final boss with the wrench, instead of the crystal shard, but it was no longer in my inventory and I didn't feel like redoing the body of the many level just for that. Maybe later.

GameRager: Now play it with one the gameplay changing/difficulty enhancing mods. -_-
Puff, not. One run is enough for now, I'm not willing play it twice. I'll probably give it another go some time in the future, but now it just got me to try out the Bioshock franchise again. Last time it bored me, as it was sold (to me) as the next DX, but now the wrench and the audiotapes have a whole new side to them and I might actually enjoy the game.

Well i'm glad you enjoyed it. :)

(BTW, the mod i'm thinking of changes gameplay in several major ways, so it's almost a new game[gameplay wise]....just putting that out there in case you want to look into it.)

I've been running it on BootCamp with XP for years, so there's at least that option.

I assume that mod is on the sticky of the SS2 subforum? Next time I decide to play it, I'll check that out. I did use the graphical mods they mentioned, and it was a significant improvement.
Great stuff, thanks to everyone involved in bringing this one back from legal clusterfuck land.

Just finished a playthrough, it went flawlessly from start to finish.

Many thanks also to everyone from the SS2 community who contributed with fixes and 'pretty it up' patches. Respect.

One good mod is ADAOB(It doesn't change tje basic game much, but it does fix bugs/oddities in the game[like that huge gas pipe in front of the main door into/out of Cryo Recovery near the beginning of the game & the fact that one of Cryo Recovery's door has a card slot on one side of the door but not the other side].). Another good mod is SecMod(I believe that's the one that adds the hand tossed grenades/repairable turrets/etc).

(BTW, you said you used the improvement mods....does that include the music upgrade mod? That kicked ass, imo. There are also some upgraded cutscenes[less artifacts/ blurriness] a user made that are available for download in the SS2 sticky thread.)

If you mean SHMUP, then yes, I believe so. Not that I liked the music all that much, I found it annoying that I would get fast paced "combat" music randomly while I was simply walking the hallways. Although, now that I think about it, it did make me go paranoid looking for the enemies, it might have been intended. Plus, this was mainly on the first areas, and I didn't mod the game until deck 3, so maybe it doesn't happen with SHMUP?

The music is fast paced to keep you on edge, I believe. But it can be a little loud, so I usually turn it down to about 35-40%.
#34 System Shock 2
#35 FTL: Faster Than Light

It's raising the lightning speed :)
Febuary 3rd is the day the magic happens. The Von Braun, the first starship in history capable of travelling at faster-than-light speed will undertake her maiden voyage. This incredible journey is the result of teamwork between the UNN protectorate and the incredible scientific minds at the newly re-licensed TriOptimum Corporation!

Imagine, travelling to distant star systems in a period of weeks! It's all part of TriOp's commitment to the future. The Von Braun is packed with over 1.8 billion flight, scientific and security systems, nearly all developed by TriOptimum and its wholly-owned subsidiaries.

Providing security for the Von Bruan as she plows through the heavens will be the UNN Rickenbacker. At her helm will be no less than Captain William Bedford Diego himself, hero of the battle of Boston Harbour during the Eastern States police action.

This incredible union of government and corporation is made possible by an intricate series of docking mechanisms that will allow the Rickenbacker to piggyback its way into jump space.

Sleek. Fast. Revolutionary. Who knows what wonders await our crews in the bosom of the cosmos. All we do know, is that it's a great day for mankind!
It's at #32 of #517 so far, and still going!

really? it seems to me it finally stopped or at the very least slowed to a crawl as it's slipped down to second place on the front page and it's been sitting below Divine Divinity on the "overall sales chart" for a few days now. Still jumping from the bottom all the way up to where it is now in the first two weeks of release and without being on sale once is impressive for a new release.

I think another GOGger said that DD sold a buttload of copies, so SS2 may very well be selling up until this very moment, but we couldn't tell without live/semi-live sales numbers and/or when it bypasses another title on the game listings. :\
