blueskirt42: The same thing applies to most JRPGs I grew up with, it doesn't stop anyone from calling them RPGs, so I'm not really sure why System Shock or System Shock 2 are any less deserving the "RPG" tag than games like Final Fantasy IV or Chrono Trigger.
"Most JRPGs" all have plenty of dialogs. That is the "roleplaying" part of roleplaying games.
My card doesn't work on this site. I only found this out after starting an account, and decided to keep the account in case I got a card that did.

If you're not opposed to it you could use paypal. Barring that I suppose one of those prepaid visa cards would work, I've never used one here before but I don't see why it wouldn't be accepted.

On the subject of SS2, yeah I bought it but I'll see what the hub-bub is about after playing through some other titles in my backlog.
Finally!!! :)

Strangely I always thought that SS1 would be released long before SS2 given that it was a lot easier to run the former on modern systems.
Avernum 6... System Shock 2.... which one... so much Many choices.

according to the sort by best selling, SS2 now (when I checked a moment ago) is at number 158/513.

So in just over 8 hours it has surpassed 355 (or roughly 70%) of the games catalog in terms of sales.

Not too shabby ;)
I vaguely remember playing the demo of System Shock 2 back when I was in my early teens but I never got the full game. I will now buy this game and see what all the fuss is about.

As for prepaids... everyone I have seen does not work outside of the U.S. (where the poster if from). I.E. they don't work with GOG or dotemu as both are outside of the U.S.

If anyone knows of a prepaid that you can buy in the U.S. that works outside, please post it as I'm wanting to close my paypal account and this is the one thing keeping it open.
There's a large sale over at Steam right now, almost like they want to make sure people spend there money there rather than here. Do you think it's possible that Steam are becoming afraid of GOG? Let us not for get GOG had Giana Sisters on promo yester day and a few hours later Steam put it on promo too.
Very nice gog! I already picked up my copy (even though I have multiple backups of my original), so thank you for all the work in procuring the rights to the game and getting it released. It's great that now the game will be available to anyone and everyone.

However, I must say one thing: I am also a member of a few prominent SS2 fan communities, and after inspecting the installation, it's apparent that a lot of fixes and modifications that these people did are used in the gog release. They are great people that have kept this game alive and relevant for those who have had a copy for well over a decade now, and I think they are deserving of at least getting some of the credit in this release. Most of the work that has been used has known authors, so it shouldn't be difficult. I know these people don't mind at all donating the work freely to the cause of getting the game released on gog, but it seems like the decent thing to do to at least give credit where it is due. I don't doubt that the gog team and Night Dive's contributions are significant, so I am not trying to discredit that in the slightest. I just think it's necessary to at least point out that there are some individuals whose work was vital to this release, and they deserve some props.

Thank you so much for getting this game!

I'm almost sure they can't give any credit because of legal reasons.

Sadly, that may be the case.
