durandl: My personal theory is that gog is in reality behind this new Studio so they could acquire the license.
avatar
Fenixp: Nope, the new studio stands behind itself and has blown all its money on SS2 license so they can make more money off that - with goal of getting even more games out of license hell. Pretty clever.
Indeed, and also rather risky.
avatar
Stooner: Good luck and have fun then! o/

lukew: Well, I installed it, tried to launch the game and got this error: Unable to locate or load d3dx9_43.dll. It's ok if nothing can be done about this. I didn't expect it to work on my netbook anyway. Still, I'm a little disappointed.
Try to install the SS2Tool v4.8 (http://www.systemshock.org/index.php?topic=4141.0) It will guide you to install all other things you need (DirectX and so on. Had the same error and now the game runs great on my netbook. ;)

Pidgeot: If you only take those parts and decode them correctly, you get a secret message.

The decoded message reads "Remember Citadel!".
avatar
G-Doc: A $9.99 bonus code heading your way.

Congratulations!
Woohoo! Thanks! :D

For those who want to know how to decode it: Take the entire sequence of 30 and 31's as one long string (no spaces), convert that from hexadecimal to ASCII (in this particular case, that just means removing all the 3's), then convert the resulting string from binary to ASCII.
Meh, I was hoping for a new pinball game today :/

:p

Kudos on the countdown, artwork, hidden giveaway... and of, course the game ;)

Here is to hoping the wish list numbers are dwarfed by actual purchases and you can fuel even greater endeavors with the data from this event.

Roman5: wait so...the opening newspost contained a hidden giveaway?

you guys just love to mess with us, don't you?
avatar
G-Doc: Yes.
Are you being honest or messing with us even more? : D

Anyhow, this is one of the games I've really wanted to play all these years, and you guys made it possible. I am downloading it as we speak.

Stooner: Try searching for this .dll, and put it on the installation folder...
I downloaded the DLL and put it into the installation folder and tried it. Now the game seems to work perfectly! I just walked around the starting area for a few minutes and everything seems fine. Thank you very much.

I can't believe this didn't occur me to do this considering I've had missing DLL problems before. But oh well, I'm dumb. Thanks again. :)

gyokzoli: What are these 303031303130313131 characters in the first post?
avatar
Pidgeot: If you only take those parts and decode them correctly, you get a secret message.

The decoded message reads "Remember Citadel!".
Look at you, hacker.

Congrats on finding the secret!

azah_lemur: After all that amazament and multitude of orgasms settle down, it'll be time to think...what about System Shock 1?
Good luck with that.

If you noticed, the forum for the game is called "System Shock 2", not "System Shock Series" as for other games released on gog with multiple games. If you're waiting for a surprise, GOG has previously released single games out from series of games and still call the forum with the "series" -suffix.

Also seeing them release a sequel first does not bode too well, either.

I'm not holding my breath.
Babies must rest... babies must sleep... We must buy this game...

Nice! I used to have a lot of errors like yours (and probably the same dll), and that always did the trick...

I'm happy for you! :P
The FLAC soundtrack is the icing on the cake for this magnificent title.

I will wait for System Shock 1 to buy the series all together. Amazing release though, congratulations to gog
So, the rights to this game were in which hands?
