A power too great for mortals to harness, a quest too great to pass upon.

Summoner, a brilliant console-style RPG that starts small and unfolds into an amazingly complex and exciting experience that just keeps on giving, is available 20% off on GOG.com. That's only $4.79 for the first week.

Summoners have toppled empires and challenged gods. They are venerated as saviours and feared as destroyers. With rings crafted by the ancient Khosani, the gifted can call forth demons, dragons, and elementals, but only the strongest can control the forces they unleash. Born with the mark of the Summoner, Joseph possesses a power greater than emperors and gods. As a child, he summoned a demon to save his village, and watched in horror as those he loved were destroyed. Nine years later, the armies of Orenia invade, and Joseph must confront the prophecy he was born to fulfill.

In Summoner, you traverse a beautiful, completely original world spanning two continents. You'll summon up to 16 different creatures, such as minotaurs, golems, dragons, and try to control them in combat. You'll be casting spectacular spells and wield an extensive arsenal of weapons and armor. With the large gameworld to explore, memorable NPCs to meet and befriend, an interesting combat system that adds some extra fun and strategy into battles, and--most importantly--a great story to tell, this 2000 classic game feels a lot like a great jRPGs, but comes in its own anime&grind-free flavor.

Fulfill the prophecy, reach for the ultimate power, and take a shot at vanquishing evil before you become a part of it in Summoner, for only $4.79 on GOG.com. The 20% off special release discount offer lasts until Tuesday, March 4, at 10:59AM GMT.

How would you rate it among RPGs? I know you're German and I think it was made by a German dev studio. :P
avatar
ThomNG: you will see a release this week of a back cat franchise on which a previous part is already online on GOG (it is not ArcaniA)

Greetings from the Nordic Games office!
Thanks again for this release!

I am curious though, did you get the rights to Summoner 2 with Summoner 1, or did you just acquire the rights to the first game?

I know Summoner 2 was a PS2 and Gamecube game only, but I just wanted to know if that came with your rights to the PC version of the first game.

Ghorpm: This + enigmatic hint = The Guild 2 confirmed ;)

ThomNG: In theory it can also be a Painkiller or Panzer Elite Action one ;) However you will see soon.
Have you seen this: http://instagram.com/p/kr6puyKfxP# ?

Call me crazy but I don't think Painkiller or Panzer Elite Action are anyhow "medieval" :P

Of course it is possible that TET was talking about a game from a different publisher but nah, I don't think so :) The Guild 2 it is ;)
cool, I never realised that there is a pc version of Summoner, great release!
is it any better or worse than the version for Playstation?
I really liked that game but the palace and the sewers were just..nasty :o

Kudos to ThomNG for appearing in every single Nordic Games release thread.
This, combined with the awesome releases the last few weeks, really gives the impression that they care about us at least as little bit. ;)
Definitely my favourite publisher on GOG.com at the moment.

NDA breach detected. Proceed termination
:)
Concerning Sid Meier's birthday I was hoping for some of his Microprose/Tommo published flight sims - but still Summoner is a great release. Wishlisted for now

Personally I like it, but it's not a real RPG in my eyes, rather sort of an action rpg, perhaps even only an action adventure with slight rpg elements. Of course it can't compete with the great Bioware classics, nor with the original gothic series, but it offers a really beautiful fantasy world to explore. Arcania's main problems were the big expectations, awoken by the unfortunate GOTHIC 4 subtitle, and the economic imbalance of its publisher JoWooD. Spellbound, the developer team, did a very properly work, but the time frame was obviously way too short and the shiny world is sometimes a little bit empty, but I had seldom so much joy in a game only with walking through the landscape. The Addon, Fall of Setariff, brings the story to a conclusion, but it's very, very, very (!) short and I think it was a little bit overprized to release. Anyway, I won't miss it due its significance for the story.

The question is, how many add-ons would come with The Guild 2? Would it include everything up through Renaissance or just the other earlier add-ons?

Another excellent release, thanks yet again GOG and Nordic Games, keep 'em coming! ;)
Now the catalog says 704 games. What's happening?

So are you I would say ;P TBH I'm not good at guessing those enigmatic hints. So far I only succeeded with Tzar so it seems I'll soon double my current record! Yay!
