A power too great for mortals to harness, a quest too great to pass upon.

Summoner, a brilliant console-style RPG that starts small and unfolds into an amazingly complex and exciting experience that just keeps on giving, is available 20% off on GOG.com. That's only $4.79 for the first week.

Summoners have toppled empires and challenged gods. They are venerated as saviours and feared as destroyers. With rings crafted by the ancient Khosani, the gifted can call forth demons, dragons, and elementals, but only the strongest can control the forces they unleash. Born with the mark of the Summoner, Joseph possesses a power greater than emperors and gods. As a child, he summoned a demon to save his village, and watched in horror as those he loved were destroyed. Nine years later, the armies of Orenia invade, and Joseph must confront the prophecy he was born to fulfill.

In Summoner, you traverse a beautiful, completely original world spanning two continents. You'll summon up to 16 different creatures, such as minotaurs, golems, dragons, and try to control them in combat. You'll be casting spectacular spells and wield an extensive arsenal of weapons and armor. With the large gameworld to explore, memorable NPCs to meet and befriend, an interesting combat system that adds some extra fun and strategy into battles, and--most importantly--a great story to tell, this 2000 classic game feels a lot like a great jRPGs, but comes in its own anime&grind-free flavor.

Fulfill the prophecy, reach for the ultimate power, and take a shot at vanquishing evil before you become a part of it in Summoner, for only $4.79 on GOG.com. The 20% off special release discount offer lasts until Tuesday, March 4, at 10:59AM GMT.

Great!
i wasn't able to finish the game back then because of a bug that wouldn't let me out of one of the rooms :)
Received the ps2 version as a gift from my mother a long time ago (time flies by).
Never finished it though, guess rpg's should be played best with a mouse.
Be nice to revisit.

Wishlisted.

Edit seemed it was ps2, not psx.

...and bought!
An rpg where you summon things? You have my attention. Wishlisted for now.
Ahh a fantastic title to see appearing on GOG! Already and still got the disk versions, but great to see it here too!

It's a lovely RPG game and has a dark gothic feel to it. It was actually quite advanced for its time - some big open roaming areas, some very interesting fantasy scenery and area designs and little things too, like footsteps sounding different depending on what you were walking on.
Wow, that´s a good release : ) (and like almost everybody, I missed the oportunity of play it and end it)

Hope to get it this week :3
I note that Timeslip, who made the graphics extender for Morrowind and a whole heap of fixes for other games, actually made an unofficial patch for this game:

I wonder if GOG already included it to get the game working?

Most importantly it's not goddamn elves & dwarfs versus big bad ebil dragon without the slightest glimpse of allover imagination
Is this the same "Summoner" that was on the PS2 with a sequel?
