Beating back some balance into the world.

Sudeki, a vibrant anime-ish action-RPG with exciting real-time battles and a robust character development system, is available on GOG.com for only $5.99.

Sudeki, a world torn apart into light, shadow and dark. Rent asunder by deceit and betrayal, the land cries out for a peace that only four united heroes can bring. Beyond the protective walls of Illumina Castle lie miles of pastoral, rolling countryside, though once a serene landscape, the Aklorian forces have transformed the countryside into a charred battlefield. Simply passing through the region is unsafe, as travellers must be ever alert for ambushes. Four friends have joined together to aid their queen. Though destined to encounter ancient gods, primordial wonders, and marvellous inventions, foes and betrayal haunt their every step. A keen eye could prove vital, exposing essential clues. And as the companions make their way through darkness and light, they’ll discover that those two extremes have more in common than they once imagined… With real-time, bone-crunching combat with incredible spells and combos, the ability to control any one of the four champions at any time, and skip between them at will, and the power to customize each character's armor, weapons, and spells and evolve new powerful attacks, this colorful action-RPG title is a real blast to play!

When Europeans experiment with the anime aesthetics interesting things happen, and Sudeki is a perfect example of that rule. Check it out, for only $5.99 on GOG.com.

Leroux: Much better, thanks! :)

JudasIscariot: Yeah, sorry about that, for some odd reason I totally forgot to remove the placeholder screens BEFORE release :/
Np. I think it's awesome that you guys create your own screenshots, and several of them, instead of just using non-descript and pre-fabricated material similar to the placeholder screens. The only reason why I noticed something was off is that your usual quality standards are so high that I couldn't believe this was right. :)

Niggles: Looks interesting. Anyone played it before that can give us a mini review of the game? (never heard of it before tbh)
I have it for PC and completed it when I got it.

All I can remember is a very linear experience with little influence on anything, a combat system that was fairly meh (even for its time) and a general feeling of blandness (especially from the story). Not a game I'd recommend to anyone, but I would not warn people away from it either. If you like the art style and have already played all the great stuff in the genre, then go for it but do not expect greatness. If you don't like the art style you should stay away from it, there's absolutely nothing here for you that can't be found better implemented in other games.

It's not a horrible (or even bad) game, it's just very bland and forgettable.
high rated

Thanks. Our QA team is great about getting screens on the fly although I think they get slightly annoyed at me when I pull a Michael Bay and demand !!EXPLOSIONS!! and other things...

I think I even told them we should photoshop explosions into Blackwell Epiphany buuuut I am not good at photochopping :P

xxxIndyxxx: It's really fun, plays a bit like Fable or 3D Zelda games. Has good graphics. Nothing too special or groundbreaking but a solid 8/10 for me

Fenixp: ... and that's why rating systems don't work. "Nothing special or groundbreaking. You know, it's fine. 80%."
LOL! I like user ratings in theory, but many people can't really vote properly.
There should be some description next to the rating to help them choose.
Just for a fast example:
0-2/10 (unavailable)
3/10 one of the worst games ever made
4/10 major flaws and boring, avoid
5/10 some important issues, not much recommended
6/10 you could try it, but it's just average, nothing special
7/10 good but with some small problems, you can safely play it
8/10 great title without big flaws, recommended!
9/10 a masterpiece, few games reach this quality!
10/10 (unavailable)

I vaguely remember spending hours playing this. It was thoroughly average and not memorable.
Never heard of it before.
This looks like a game that could have some interesting ideas, but I don´t know a thing how well they are executed, so:
REVIEWS, PLEASE!

I'd go with those ratings

ReynardFox: I must say, though this game is definitely going on my wishlist, the trailer and paltry screenshots on the gamecard are vague to the point of offputting.
Well I didn't see the placeholder screenshots, but I kind of like the trailer though more for the simulated shadow puppets :)
Actually what Sudeki did manage to do is to remind me of proper and good jRPGs that never made it to the PC, like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEIURTJKek0

Why no 0/10 ? :P

Niggles: Why no 0/10 ? :P
Haven't you ever done a Sudeki before? You can only use the digits 1 through 9.

Nah.I am not so enlightened :D
I remember playing this game on the Xbox as well; Actually I still have it. A few things I recall standing out about this game, namely that I had trouble playing it. The first 2-3 hours of the game I had to make myself play it, it wasn't until sometime you were in the shadow world (or whatever it's called, been a while) that it suddenly changed and became 'cool' when certain abilities were avaliable.

The other thing standing out was the fight against the crab/spider robot being such a pain in the butt, unless you fought it a specific way which was essentially kiting.

Storyline wise, I recall the game being sorta mediocre, but it was acceptable for playing through. I'll probably pick this game up to complete it in my game collection (like Chronicles of Riddick) but I won't expect to be playing this any time soon.
