Beating back some balance into the world.

Sudeki, a vibrant anime-ish action-RPG with exciting real-time battles and a robust character development system, is available on GOG.com for only $5.99.

Sudeki, a world torn apart into light, shadow and dark. Rent asunder by deceit and betrayal, the land cries out for a peace that only four united heroes can bring. Beyond the protective walls of Illumina Castle lie miles of pastoral, rolling countryside, though once a serene landscape, the Aklorian forces have transformed the countryside into a charred battlefield. Simply passing through the region is unsafe, as travellers must be ever alert for ambushes. Four friends have joined together to aid their queen. Though destined to encounter ancient gods, primordial wonders, and marvellous inventions, foes and betrayal haunt their every step. A keen eye could prove vital, exposing essential clues. And as the companions make their way through darkness and light, they’ll discover that those two extremes have more in common than they once imagined… With real-time, bone-crunching combat with incredible spells and combos, the ability to control any one of the four champions at any time, and skip between them at will, and the power to customize each character's armor, weapons, and spells and evolve new powerful attacks, this colorful action-RPG title is a real blast to play!

When Europeans experiment with the anime aesthetics interesting things happen, and Sudeki is a perfect example of that rule. Check it out, for only $5.99 on GOG.com.
Not interested in thiis game from what I've seen and heard so far, though the graphics don't look so bad, certainly better than gog.com depicts.

I just wanted to chime in on the poor use of promotional shots here, though. In particular, the screenshot of what appears to be the opening of the weak game trailer you're providing for your newspost is just terrible. A misframed pic of a single character when there's apparently a main cast of four is slapdash at best. Also, while I'm not particularly impressed with the continued overuse of cheesecake on this site (or gaming in general) I would have to say those screenshots are particularly poor, I really don't get any sense of the graphical flourish that I saw in other previews or really any anime vibe at all.

I know gog.com is provided with much of this promotional material, but I'm sure you could be more demanding of the publisher. Sorry to say, but from what I've seen from gog.com's promotional material is that it seems to be pretty hit and miss and overwhelmingly amateurish (Note: For games, I should mention that the following doesn't apply for pro-site-ads, I often enjoy an amateur quality there) in general so I have a hard time putting this squarely on the publisher. All said though, they should really put more thought into their own investment (and they're not alone).

jackster79: That is my one big beef with consoles now that backward compatibility is discouraged... the game being tied to the life of the system. I have such a backlog that the system would expire long before I can get to it. By getting them on the PC there is at least a chance they may still be playable when I get to them.

rtcvb32: Yeah, perhaps that's something that can be used to hit some publishers/designers to use PC more. You know, ask like 'So how much money is xxx game still making?' and could name something off like Scrapland (Xbox) and Dark Alliance (Xbox/PS2), and as if the short term of the console was worth making it an exclusive.

Mmm suddenly I have old memories surfacing of going to Fort Bragg, and they were trying to get us to sign up to be Airborn and using really bad examples of how the extra $150 a month would let us get like big screen TV's vs the crappy little handheld black and white one and such. It was funny, yet somehow it comes to mind. Forgive my rambling..
No worries on the rambling - I find it interesting to hear what people are willing to do or say to get someone else to do or say something.

But yes, I hope they still do such analysis when determining what IPs to milk. That is one thing I both love and hate about Sony and Nintendo. Love that they are still keeping the classics available, but dislike that each new console iteration it seems you have to re-purchase what you already bought to play it for that system.
Not my type but good release.

It seems too much like they are going to re-release games in packs for newer consoles in a way that isn't backwards compatible. Example: Megaman anniversary edition, sega games collection, in some cases these are including on a joystick/emulator with the games (30-60) built-in like we occasionally see in the discount bin at walmart or something. Naturally if they sold decently enough, they might sell again when the new consoles are out, milking them, but at the same time it seems like it's a dying idea. CapCom has milked certain games too much too long, Disney is milking it's movies with it's newer releases too much (Little mermaid, Little mermaid Silver edition. Little mermaid Platinum, Little mermaid 3D, much like this).

I am sure soon a number of 'classics' won't sell anymore and will sit on the shelves and have almost no buys because people will be sick of it and such old games should just be free to play. Afterall isn't that how copyright works? Works are for a limited time limited in how it can be distributed before going to public domain, but these companies are not trying to make new IP's so much as hoping to milk older games indefinitely. This means that DRM inserted to limit games are actually in the long term a very bad thing. Consider if the copyright is something reasonable like 20 years, I'm sure there's going to be these games being played in 1000 years and if you can't play the game(s) without going through huge hoops or cracks (because the sourcecode is lost because the company went belly up). Current business practices assume copyright never ends, that it's about making money and not good games.

Nintendo is quite happy suing and attacking fans who remade Mario on a web browser; If copyright in the US was it's original length (14 years) then the lawsuit would have been thrown out as it would have been in public domain by that time and anyone could enjoy it. Seriously, how many people are playing the original Mario? Very few, usually those with hand-me-down systems, emulators, and those who have an obsession with being awesome and showing us things like how to beat Mario with the lowest possible score (600). Sony and microsoft are quick to patch their systems to prevent the hardware from actually being open and allowing us to tweak the systems to running custom software in sheer worry we would rip games and not need the discs. I have a hacked Xbox and I used it as an entertainment system (using XBMC) for years before the ethernet port and dvd drive failed, and being hacked it's 100x better than when it's unhacked.

It's apparent with the PS4/XBone that they had hoped to have a always-online and force unshared copies of games, until the huge negative reaction gamers had. Still M$ has pushed it, holding back it's cryptic DRM while keeping all features beyond playing discs behind it's pay-wall, hoping that we can't live without the system being unlocked through the gold account. Honestly if they weren't shoving ads down my throat or forcing updates on my 360 I might have it connected to the internet, but no I don't want to bother with that, god-forbid how the Kinnect works with it's obvious security worries being on all the time and on the internet with the NSA obviously and actively watching M$ communication channels (Skype as an example).
Just to confirm 360 Controller Compatibility

X and A do different attacks, so pressing them in succession give combos, best combo XXA and then keep repeating A to juggle.

B is a circular attack to give you breathing space.

Y Menu Access. Skill access (Press Y in combat, game pauses, so you can select a "skill" to use).

LT FPS Mode

RT Shield (bit slow to me, but added to stick movement, it makes you roll dodge so try it at practice session at start.

< > ^ V are to access quick slots for potions etc.

LS Movement (press for FPS)

RS Camera (Press for Health Status)

Have fun
wow

such old game

unique traits

pleasure price

very mystery

so tempting
Bought this straightaway. The combat is so good, and maybe ahead of its time. Very fluid, even better than Witcher 2 if i'm being cynical here.

Loved this game when it came out originally for PC, unfortunately when I tried to reinstall it on my Win 7 machine it didn't even recognized the disc. That very day I requested it to GOG exactly 2 years to the date (April 23, 2012!) So I bought it and installed it on the spot and glad to have it running perfectly now.

That is an epic coincidence.
Definitely on my radar: I have the retail version that I purchased for two cups of coffee, but never had the guts to play it due to damn Starforce.

phaolo: 5 stars is too much unprecise for my likings, but I think that users should be able to choose their preferred system (5 as default, advanced 10 or even 100).
Also, 5 stars ratings often end up in the "half star" scale, which is basically equal to a 10 stars system!
avatar
Niggles: I actually agree with this.5 stars is too limiting when especially there is a lot that could impact on a score (on a proper detailed review -- pretty hard to find these days imho)
avatar
zaine-h: It looks so cheesy I just had to get it. The videos I've seen make it look like a B-movie in game form. :)
avatar
Niggles: Someone said it has a Total Overdose vibe to it?
No, there are times there will be a lot of enemies in an area, but its not like TO.
TO is kinda like Max Payne, but this is more like a jrpg in the final fantasy vein, it just has real time combat instead of turn-based, you will have a team of 2-4, with 2 melee characters and 2 ranged, you can kinda pause combat to use skills, but its not like bullet time..

This game was amazing to me. Mindblowing. A well-done rpg that I could choose to play in either hack'n'slash mode OR as a first-person shooter. And I chose the latter. It was great. Combat was fun. I liked the story. And the fan service. This was easily a five-star game for me...

RIGHT up until the ending, which was god-awful and made me regret even playing it, much like that ME3 nonsense. I want to see some wrap-up and closure in an ending, and - assuming I loved the characters enough to sink the time into actually beating a game, rather than just leaving it on the to-do pile - I want to see at least a few snippets of them post-climactic-battle. Assuming they survive said battle, that is. This...

...was worth the play, and is DEFINITELY worth the gog price, but just don't expect to get misty over a fun or touching mini-movie at the end, 'cause there's nothing.
Wishlisted it so far...
