Mother Earth needs YOU, pilot.

Strike Suit Zero, a visually stunning revival of space combat sim genre, with many fresh gameplay ideas, featuring dynamic action, sleek spacecraft design, and mindblowing music, is now available on GOG.com, 20% off. That's only $15.99, this week only!

The story is simple: evil forces armed with an alien relic attack the Earth and destroy almost entire U.N.E. fleet. You, a disgraced pilot named Adams, are the only force standing between the Colonials and annihilation of our homeworld. Sure it's a story you've heard before, but none of those stories offered you a chance to unleash the power of the Strike Suit. You, destroying entire fleets almost single-handedly--it's that kind of story.

Strike Suit Zero balances between simulation and arcade shooter and manages to create a fantastic combat experience. In the first few levels you pilot a "normal" starfighter--a one you'd expect from a space combat sim. However, it's the Strike Suit that allows the game to fully shine, offering a sense of empowerment like no other space sim and allowing you to eradicate your opponents with a flurry of deadly missiles and triumph over enemy forces that outnumber you 10 to 1. It is fairly difficult but not unfair, as mouse + keyboard controls work intuitively, until you grab a recommended joystick, of course :) Both space-sim fans and more "casual" gamers will enjoy the hell out of setting the space skies on fire.

If you're worried about not getting DLCs with the GOG.com version, then stop. All users who purchase the game or a gift code within the first month will get the DLC-pack for free. Yes. More death-dealing space mechs are coming!

Missing that unpaired rush of adrenaline one can only get from dogfighting enemy fighters in the depths of space? Don't hesitate to join the U.N.E. Fleet, get Strike Suit Zero today, for only $15.99! The discount will last until Thursday, January 31, 1:29PM GMT.

JMich: Hm, extra question about the "1st month" thing.

In the case of gift codes, does the month count from date of payment or date of redemption? So if for example I buy a gift code today to be used in the next GOG.com Advent Calendar, will the receiver get the DLCs as an extra Christmas bonus or not?
It has been established earlier that when you buy a gift code, you don't buy the game, you pretty much just get a pre-paid card for a product. The product itself gets transferred to you after you apply the code. I do hope GOG has changed this, but I kind of doubt so.

Kunovski: probably yes as the payment is done, don't you think? but I can't be certain of course...
I find it best to ask when in doubt, especially for newer implementations. It could be that during the first month GOG.com will be selling "Strike Suit Zero + DLCs", thus that being the game redeemed from gift codes, while from the next month it will be selling "Strike Suit Zero". It could be that a flag in their users database checks the "date added" field, and if it's earlier than date XX it allows downloading of the DLCs as well. It could be that they message each and every user a link from which to get the DLCs, like they did with Botanicula's soundtrack (I think).
Thus best to ask for confirmation, and give a few ideas as well :P

I'd imagine this as when you buy a gift code within the first month, your "code" contains some info about containing the DLC... it seems stupid that they would take the mere action of adding the game to somebody's account as the time of "getting" it...
Hm, this certainly looks interesting.

Any info about moddability? 'cuz this looks like a great starting point for a Macross-themed mod. *_*
Looks very nice, looking forward to hearing what people will say about this one
Dang not XP compatible, guess I can't put off upgrading any longer........ Got about 6-7 years out of this PC though that's pretty impressive.

It indeed does seem stupid, but it also seems stupid to be unable to redeem a game removed from the catalogue after you have bought it, yet that is the case.

what? it says "XP" as a minimum requirement on the game page right below the trailer... so, what's the truth?
EDIT: ...and it has been changed... so that kind of solves this for me :)

When and how has this been established?

There, pretty much. You don't get a licence to a game when buying a gift, you get it on the redeeming part.

No, it's not.

It is possible that GOG has changed this policy, but just a few months ago, if you've had a gift code for a game no longer in the catalogue, you could not have used it to redeem the game. When contacting support, you were offered a refund, but that's about it. Thank you for the highly informative reply by the way :-P
Just noticed this one on Steam yesterday, thought it looked interesting. Now that it's on GOG, I'm even more interested. Wishlisted for now, though I may have to buy it within the month to get that free DLC.

Got ya beat. I got nearly 11 years out of my XP machine. Bought in 2001, continually upgraded over the years, finally replaced this past summer. It's actually still being used right now as a file and print server.

Ok :))
Here's more information:

And GOG's reply:
http://www.gog.com/forum/general/be_careful_if_you_keep_gog_keys_around_uncool_gog/post88
And if you look above that reply you'll see a post made by me where I quoted F4LL0UT about him redeeming a pulled game.

Yes, there is a problem which they need to fix. But it's not correct to say that they can't add a removed game if it was purchased before being removed.

To further prove the point here's a screenshot I just took.

So, is Freespace2 still the best?
