Hadouken!

Street Fighter Alpha 2, one of the most successful 2D fighting games of all times, is now available on GOG.com for only $5.99!

Ryu, from Japan. Chun-Li, from China. Ken, from USA. Birdie, from England. Charlie, from USA. Adon, from Thailand. Rose, from Italy. Guy, from USA. Sagat, from Thailand. Bison, from Brasil. Sodom, from USA. Akuma, from Japan. Dan, from Hong Kong. Zangief, from USSR. Dhalsim, from India. Rolento, from USA. Gen, from China. Sakura, from Japan. Eighteen hardcore fighters, each with his or hers set of moves and fighting techniques, are ready for the incredible showdown, that is the Street Fighter championship.

In Street Fighter Alpha 2, many of the long time favorite characters--like Ryu, Chun-Li, and Zangief-- return to our screens. They're accompanied by a cast of newcomers, who have even more to prove. The game features beautiful, cartoony pixel-art graphics that guarantees a clear view of the fast-paced combat. A system of deadly custom combos has been introduced in place of the closed chain-combos, so you have even more control over your fighting style!

Stretch your fingers, put on your bandanna, and get ready for the ultimate fighting challenge in Street Fighter Alpha 2, for only $5.99!
I hope this means more Capcom fighters are coming. :)

RESIDENT EVIL INCOMING(I hope)!!!!!
Strange how Capcom Unity didn't even made an announcement about this release.

Now all I want is a port of Street Fighter III 3rd Strike Online Edition. :)

DustFalcon1985: What's wrong w/ Mega Man & Mega Man 3 for MSDOS? They were my childhood games after all.
I'm fairly certain you're confusing them with the NES games. The DOS Mega Man games are shovelware. Just take a look: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QoKuMayD6

Christian Svensson (Corporate Officer/Senior Vice-President of Capcom USA) touched upon this subject in a thread posted on Capcom-Unity forums.

"We've been working on it for a long time... you'll note it's a CUSA title up there for now (CUSA owns Street Fighter). We're still trying to bring Capcom Japan around."
I kind of want this, but it probably wouldn't run on my laptop, and I don't have any people to play fighting games with.
Decisions, decisions...
I'm glad to see that this game is here, but not because I like the game per se. Seeing a Capcom title, even if it's only a Capcom USA owned title, gives me some hope for the future. If it sells well, perhaps the big wigs over in Japan will be convinced to start releasing their back catalog.

This is a 2D game that came out in 1997. How old is your laptop? Lol. Not having anyone to play with is probably the real issue. These kinds of games really do have most of their longevity packed in their competitive multiplayer feature.

It's a cheap netbook from 4 or something years ago with Arch Linux OS. The processor is way below the stated minimum requirement. It can't even run Super Meat Boy. I think my brother's tablet has a more powerful processor. I could run it on my other computers, but I figured that this game'd be great for longer train trips.

jpolastre: It's really nice to see Capcom here. I still don't know whether I'll grab SF now or in a few weeks, but one thing got me confused:

GOG.com: Rose, from Italy. Guy, from USA. Sagat, from Thailand. Bison, from Brasil. Sodom, from USA. Akuma, from Japan.

jpolastre: Huh? When did Capcom retcon Bison's origin/backstory to Brazil?? Did he move here because he liked our beaches? Or maybe our bitches?
You are correct, Capcom never make official where Vega (I just love using Japanese version for their names, so Vega here refers to the villainous Shadaloo leader) is from, though he did have a base of operation in Brazil, and it is his stage in this game, so I think that is why they confuse his origin to be Brazil.
I might get this later. Don't do fight games much anymore. This is a classic though. I hope GOG will get FX Fighter,..really enjoyed that one.

I knew there was a catch. I'm guessing it's the Capcom Japan part that owns the Resident Evil series. If that's the case, I wouldn't look for any RE games to show up on GOG anytime soon, not while Capcom and Japanese gaming as a whole are in a bit of a panic mode over piracy. To be honest, i'm still amazed SFA2 even came to GOG.

That's interesting. All I heard about this link between Bison/Vega and Brazil was a quick mention on one SF cartoon IIRC. It was probably not even canon so I never gave it much thought but apparently Capcom liked the idea.
Thanks for the info.

Edit: As for Brazil being his stage in this game, I didn't play it much so it appeared to me that the stage selection was just random.

Well, resident evil 1 is fairly old by now. (About 16-17 years) at least the PlayStation version , not sure how old the the pc version is, but im guessing at least 14-15 years old.
so maybe theres a chance they release. that one to test the waters unless they are planning to pack it in a HD physical bundle or something.
Guess we just have to wait and see.

Awesome to see Capcom on board....maybe we can get Mega Man X and Breath of Fire IV on here.
Additionally, I'd like to see Dino Crisis 1 & 2, Ghosts 'n Goblins, and the Devil May Cry & Onimusha games added.
