Oh my word, I am SO GLAD to see this on GoG, as well as TIE Fighter. I played these games like a fiend when they first came out -- I was hoping I'd see a remastered version someday with updated graphics, but I ain't complainin'! I'm going to enjoy revisiting these to see if I still have my ace pilot skillz after 20 years, lol.

Strijkbout: No.

Elmofongo: Well thats a shame I guess I have to enjoy Tie Fighter and X-Wing in a different way.
I thought it best to be honest about it, you won't experience waves of TIE's that blow up so easy all the time, this game requires hard work!

Elmofongo: Will I get that same experiacne with these older games?
What do you mean exactly? X-Wing plays *very* differently from Rogue Squadron but if you're wondering whether the assault on the Death Star is included: yes, it is.

BillyMaysFan59: Straw Poll time! Which of the 2 games do you prefer, X-Wing or Tie Fighter? Do you side with the Rebel Alliance, or the Evil Empire?
The Empire. The Emperor himself zapped a mark on my arm when I entered the Inner Circle, marking me in all manner of badassery for badassery. In the Rebellion they give only medals and stale Bantha feed as refreshments.

Also I get to fly TIE Advanceds and TIE Defenders.

I already replied you in the TIE Fighter thread. And I love both DS runs is X-Wing and X-Wing Alliance.

Its a damn shame that there was never a Star Wars Space Simulator with that amazing style graphics as seen in Rogue Leader.

Somebody make a Death Star mod for Star Citizen.

At least in the Rebellion you can appreciate all your medals on a nice uniform. The empire only allows you to look at the medals themselves, one at a time.

I'm not really a person that cares about graphics in games. But anyways, those graphics and music in 1994 were phenomenal back then. Especially when u go from playing games with the PC speaker emitting beeps to your first SoundBlaster card, X-Wing and TIE-Fighter were definitely the way to go to showcase the sounds and music.

Those Death Star missions gave me nail biting experiences, unwanted stress, cold sweat and cheering like a nincompoop when I finally blew DS up. Even more so in X-Wing Alliance since its more difficult than X-Wing's DS run. Why not wait for X-Wing Alliance then, it has better gfx than X-Wing.

The Rebellion doesn't have an Inner Circle mark by the Emperor
:)

Yeah well, it wouldn't make any sense, it's the rebellion. What really sucks, though, is that the rebellion doesn't have Bite Marks of Admiral Ackbar.

Does Admiral Ackbar even have teeth? Never saw any evidence of such in the movies :D

I reckon the Rebellion should go Suarez mode and Admiral Ackbar and Mon Mothma be biting every top ace in the Alliance.

He's Mon Calamari so I suppose he has a beak. I assume the term bites still qualify and he doesn't appreciate jokes about fried squid.

Two of my favorite games as a kid! Recently someone broke into my house and stole almost all my hardcopy console/PC games (thankfully they left all my systems except my PS4) among them were my cherished copies of the entire X-Wing series. I was just thinking to myself a couple weeks ago about hunting down some copies on ebay then came home to find THIS! And I had to *squee* with delight as now I have a copy that NOBODY will be able to steal from me. Any chance of getting the remastered editions that were re-made with the X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter engine?

*edit* and I just discovered that they have both versions! Squee!

X-Wing and TIE Fighter are a bit different, they are more akin to the earliest flight sims on the PC. They are far more unforgiving, since you have to deal with a whole lot more: paying attention to your radar scope, cycling targets, ordering wingmen, and energy management (shields, weapons, and engines).

Rogue Squadron games were the watered down Arcade third person attempts at it. They were ok games, but not quite as in-depth. I prefer Rogue Squadron N64 myself.
