There's a twitch stream currently going on if anyone's curious. GOG's channel, BaerTaffy playing.
Thanks GOG, instant buy for me and hopefully we'll see more LucasArts games like dark forces, outlaws, SWOTL, BOB, jedi knight and so many other good youth memories of the Win3.11/DOS 6.22 and Win95 era that LucasArts has given me :-)

Yes. There may be some clothes over the underwear, but I prefer to believe that underwear is worn.

muhgi: Any chance of getting a list of "known supported joysticks" or other guidelines for what should work? Thanks!
Any joystick should work in theory with any game that handles joysticks (old or new games) however with old MSDOS
era games that directly program the hardware and are unaware of fancy USB hardware with 57 buttons etc. such games
wont ever likely be able to use the extra hardware functionality directly - however... most modern gaming hardware
comes with software that allows switches/dials/gizmos to be configured/programmed to emulate the keyboard/mouse/etc. quite flexibly which allows the new hardware to be retrofitted onto old games in a manner that is often better than if a game supported the hardware natively. I usually use this programmability functionality of my Saitek X52-Pro to customize even new games rather than use the in-game hardware configuration as the hardware level configuration is superior.

I've successfully used my X52-Pro with the Wing Commander games, and other titles from the 90s, as well as using it with X-Wing Alliance on Windows XP a few years back and programming it to emit keyboard codes for the various buttons, throttle up/down etc.

In short, you shouldn't have any problems with any games but may need to use the software that came with your hardware to reprogram it, or to use one of the open source applications that serve the same purpose - although their names escape me at the moment but I'm sure someone else will mention them now that I've eluded to them. :) If not I can hunt them down later though. :)

May the Force be with you! ;oP

Mandz: Even the manuals and reference cards are the same crappy scans that came with my dodgy torrent copy (I do own the oringinals on CD).
If you have access to a scanner and could carefully scan them all at super high resolution and submit them to GOG, they will likely update the manuals they offer assuming the publisher allows for it. They have done this with numerous other games in the past either from customer submitted content from original games, or stuff they buy on Ebay or wherever they can find it and scan it themselves. As long as the rights owners are ok with it I don't see a problem, but I'm not sure why they wouldn't be ok with someone providing simple improvements like this which even the rights holders may no longer possess originals or high quality copies of. Especially true when rights for things pass from one entity to another. :)
I have a mighty problem calibrating my pad... in centered position it won't stand still... it is in constant movement... any sugestions?

Its a XBOX360 controller...

Great news! Maybe, sometime in the not-too-distant-future we'll get to see the mac version too.
Hey guys - over in the TIE Fighter news thread, we found out that the DOS version supplied isn't the Collector's Edition (with improved voice work, SVGA graphics, et. al.) but the "normal" floppy version with the first expansion.

If I understand the news correctly, the X-Wing DOS version is indeed the Collector's Edition with the back ported goroud shading engine from TIE fighter? Can anyone confirm (I'd do this myself but I'm not able to check the versions right now)?
Anyone know how to fix the wacky color bug? Compatibility mode didn't help any nor did running in 256 colors, and I can't seem to find the .ini files
I just bought this (and Tie) but can not play them. I thought being "re-releases" that they should support keyboard and mouse like every other FPS game out there. Even if these are the original DOS games, they should support the keyboard. How do I get a refund?

The DOS versions DO support mouse. :P
I just tried it myself with the GOG release.

I just fired up my own (German) CD-ROM version to compare. The GOG version indeed seems to be the floppy version (without voice overs for briefings and stuff) BUT the CD-ROM seems to be only VGA as well. I think only Tie-Fighter Collector's CD-ROM supports SVGA (although it never worked for me on DOSBox, only on DOS or Windows 95/98).

You can get a refund by contacting support. But I don't really believe that mouse and keyboard really aren't supported. I remember they were supported even when I played them back then. You could also contact support and ask them for assistance. I just hope they aren't overwhelmed at the moment.

This is strange, because the news explicitly states (emphasis mine): "Includes STAR WARS™: X-Wing Collector's CD-ROM and all Tour of Duty expansions: Imperial Pursuit and B-Wing in both - 1994 (DOS) and 1998 (Windows) versions!" - to me that reads like the DOS version is the Collector's version (which always included Imperial Pursuit and B-Wing) but from your post it seems that it's just the old floppy version with the floppy variants of the expansions.

So - in essence - the same problem as the TIE Fighter version that there is a better version of the DOS game available but it's not the one bundled with the Special Editions.
