Potzato: The gamecard doesn't say so atm.

Side note : you might want to contact a blue for your '.203' appendix.
yeah. i don't know why the appendix is on the name. i've been a long time at gog, but i wrote the first time to the forum. and taaaaataaa, the appendix was born.

You probably didn't notice but it's a number appended to you by the gog staff for helping them doing experiments on you while you weren't paying attention. They are THAT evil.

To get rid of that, contact support, tell them to revert your username to ... whatever you want in fact and they'll fix that (if they finished experimenting that is ;)

They had to add some numerical appendicies if names could conflict with certain parts of their forum program (or something like that). I'd imagine the "flash" part was tagged and altered. But I'm not GOGspert.
I am seriously disappointed that the 1995 versions of the two games aren't included. Oh well, I'll make do with the 1998 versions then. After all, it's X-Wing (and TIE Fighter) again, finally, yay!

RefriedNoodle: Thanks GOG for the releases of today!

I have to ask: How come TIE Fighter includes The Steele Chronicles, but X-Wing does not include The Farlander Papers?
I presume for the same reason the latter (according to wikis) wasn't included in full in the game guides; it had apparently been promoted as a collectors' item. It really shouldn't be a point of contention for a digital version so many years later, so I am disappointed, but who knows? Maybe Lucasfilm managed to get themselves tangled up in some sort of legalese back in the day?

I've spent some time yesterday to program some of the most important commands but I have no idea how to map Twist axis to roll left/right.
If anybody would want to use my file as a base to create his own profile, I would be most grateful for helping me with that problem :)

how long do you think will X-Wing & Tie Fighter be EXCLUSIVE to GOG?

F4LL0UT: The crazy thing is that they didn't even go all the way, inserting new CGI animations in some places while not changing anything about most of them. And sure, the new CGI shots look better, but they were still unnecessary and are inconsistent with all the shots they didn't alter. Also, somehow they managed to make most of the explosions look worse in the special edition.
Agree with this. They kept in some bizarrely awful shots (X-Wing strafing, Super Star Destroyer crashing) that were crying out for a re-do. I thought they were bad even when I saw the original films when CGI wasn't an option. But then most things George Lucas does are... inexplicable (well, apart from the need to make as much money as possible by flogging a dead horse)... ;-)

So, how do you contact GOG support? Since I bought this game, the screen flickers every few seconds, showing my desktop. It doesn't actually interfere with the game except that it's really hard to see. It happens about every 12 seconds. I cannot find any mention of it in the support posts and asking to contact puts you in a loop of bullshit that never ends. How do you find help anyway?

Also, now having the same issue with tie fighter. This sucks.

Thanks for the response below.

Here's the link where you have a drop down menu where you can select the choice that best describes your problem:

http://www.gog.com/support/contact/technical_issues_with_games/star_wars_xwing_special_edition

As for how to get there, just do the following:

Click on Support on the bar that you see on top of every page.
Type in the name of the game in the Search bar once you get to Games Support.
To your right, you'll see a link titled "I can't find the solution for my problem".
Click on the aforementioned link and it will take you to the drop down menu I have linked above :)

Let me know if I can help with anything else :)

Anyone have an X-52 profile? I'm really struggling with mine. Especially figuring out how to get it to roll.

I don't own the game yet but will sometime soon and when I do I'll be making an X52-Pro profile which may be compatible with the X52 also I'm guessing. If I remember I'll post a link to it here to share. Might take a few days to get it fully functional though as the game has an amazing number of keys/options and the hardware an amazing number of buttons/gizmos to sort out. ;o)
Is it possible to beat these games with a mouse and keyboard?

I believe you can play the DOS versions with them, so I assume with enough skill you could beat them with K&M
