xucaen: I just bought this (and Tie) but can not play them. I thought being "re-releases" that they should support keyboard and mouse like every other FPS game out there. Even if these are the original DOS games, they should support the keyboard. How do I get a refund?
Considering the fact that each game maps several functions to every single key on the entire keyboard to control various subsystems of the ship, it is not possible to play the games /without/ a keyboard. ;o)

If it's not working for you then it sounds like you may be experiencing a technical issue that is either local to your setup or which may have not come up during testing on any of the test systems. In either case, GOG provides excellent customer support, just file a support ticket and they'll be more than happy to try to help you get the game to work. If they can't get it to work with reasonable effort they will refund your money if you wish, just read up on the money back guarantee policy for the fine details.

Also, check and see if they set up a game-specific forum for the game yet and if so you might want to report the problem there also so other users can offer suggestions and/or stumble upon it if they're having a similar issue etc.

Hope this helps.
Can anybody confirm if the store page mentioning the 1993 version under IMPORTANT NOTICE section is a mistake? The 1994 version is mentioned in the description instead, so I'm not sure which one is correct.
What needs to be done to get this game running. Doesnt seem to recognize my joystick.

You'll probably need to configure your joystick software to either emulate DOS style joysticks so they're visible to the game, or what I like to do with old games like this is use the game controller software (such as Saitek/Logitech etc. software) map controller buttons/axes/etc. to joystick axes and keyboard keys, or use 3rd party software to do the same if your hardware didn't come with such software.

Elmofongo: As a guy that only experiance Space combat Star Wars games from this:

Will I get that same experiacne with these older games?

thehawkness: X-Wing and TIE Fighter are a bit different, they are more akin to the earliest flight sims on the PC. They are far more unforgiving, since you have to deal with a whole lot more: paying attention to your radar scope, cycling targets, ordering wingmen, and energy management (shields, weapons, and engines).

Rogue Squadron games were the watered down Arcade third person attempts at it. They were ok games, but not quite as in-depth. I prefer Rogue Squadron N64 myself.
Rogue Squadron 1 and 2 has First Person Cockpit modes. This guy just refuses to do it because he thinks its to hard :P

F4LL0UT: There's a rather universal fix for issues like these (you can read about it here). I created some registry files so you don't have to go through the whole process yourself:
LINK

Just run the corresponding registry files (depending on whether your Windows is 32 or 64 bit). Running the wrong one won't do any harm, though, just add a tiny bit of unnecessary data to the registry. Anyway, that's a common fix for older games suffering from screwed up colors on Windows 7, it *might* help. Chances are, though, that GOG already did the same thing and the fix just doesn't work on your system for some reason. Please report whether the fix worked.

Btw, if you feel uneasy about running registry files from somewhere on the web you can open them with a text editor and see for yourself that they only add the stuff that was also mentioned in the thread I linked to.
Interestingly, this didn't work.

Did you try what bryanhook suggested? (his reply may have gotten buried by mine)

Just updating the graphics card drivers apparently did the trick for him.

F4LL0UT: What do you mean exactly? X-Wing plays *very* differently from Rogue Squadron but if you're wondering whether the assault on the Death Star is included: yes, it is.
Speaking of the Death Star battle in the films Am I the only one who like the Special Edition version of that battle then the original:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8faBFPENMbg

The ships in the original look too static they don't fly as dynamically as they should. The CGI ships just move just right with grace. I am just saying thats the only CGI in the Special Editions done right imo. Probably because its easier to make a metal object be it a ship more realsitc than a CGI creature.
I love the Star Wars films, and I am no purist... therefore I have nothing against the retcons, the updates and changes... besides two... Han shot first and Vaders No at the end... the rest is a clear improvement to me, including the new Death Star battle!

The crazy thing is that they didn't even go all the way, inserting new CGI animations in some places while not changing anything about most of them. And sure, the new CGI shots look better, but they were still unnecessary and are inconsistent with all the shots they didn't alter. Also, somehow they managed to make most of the explosions look worse in the special edition.

Perhaps They left some of the original scenes because they were that good that they blended seemlessly with the CGI Ships and of course some of them are Iconic shots.

As to the explosion you mean how they are colored? I don't seem to care about that since fiery explosions should not happen in Space :P

And I like the Ring added to the Death Star explosion.
