Shadow of Chernobyl + Clear Sky + Call of Pripyat up to 70% off!

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat, the phenomenally immersive FPS survival horror series set in the terrifyingly believable radioactive "Zone" surrounding the explosion site of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, is available up to 70% off on GOG.com. That's only $14.97 for the set of three for the next 72 hours.

Not many people truly understand what it means to be a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. We're Scavengers, Trespassers, Adventurers, Loners, Killers, Explorers, and Robbers. Basically, what each of us is, is a bit of a soldier, a bit of a thief, a bit of a hunter, a bit of a nutjob, and a full-time basterd. Imagine what's happening in our heads. The Zone is calling for us ahead, new locations and unknown threats, spatial holes and monsters hiding in the fog, pitch-black nights and saving rays of a rising sun. You try to avoid anomalies and hide from blowouts, discover the Zone and collect artifacts, cure radioactive irradiation and fight for any stalker faction you like! This is the life, right? If only it didn't end so promptly, ever so often.

The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series delivers one of the most immersive and enthralling experiences in the history of first-person shooters. Calling it a "shooter", however, might be a bit of a stretch. The games' focus leans mostly towards exploration and stealth. In most cases, it's best to avoid encounters rather than face the dangers head-on. The Chernobyl exclusion zone is full of things that could kill you in an eyeblink. Strange creatures, physics-defying phenomena, not to mention the other men bold or insane enough to venture into the heart of eastern-european Twilight Zone. The competition is ruthless, as the prizes are great--the fascinating artifacts found in the forbidden land yield unbelievable prizes on the black market. If you think you have what it takes to become one of the fabled S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s, the whole story of the Chernobyl Zone opens before you: the original Shadow of Chernobyl, the prequel Clear Sky, and the sequel Call of Pripyat. All three games come with high-quality soundtracks encoded in lossless FLAC format.

For the next 72 hours, that is until Sunday, February 9, at 10:59 GMT, you can get the entire S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series 70% off, that is for only $14.97. Separately, the games come with 50% off discount for that time.

EDIT:
Now, that the release special offer has expired, the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games are priced at $19.99, $9.99, and $19.99 for Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Sky, and Call of Pripyat respectively. A permanent 20% off series discount still applies, if you get all three at the same time.

SpecShadow: I'm not actually fan of "complete" overhaul mods.
I spend nice hours playing it but readme.txt of the mods were cold shower for me.
tl;dr - turned marvelous game into average FPS with no AI and too much cheats.
Shadow of Chernobyl in particular was in desperate need of it though. Even with the most recent official patch the game is bugged to hell, and the Complete mod fixes most of them and makes it an enjoyable experience.

It also does wonders with the lighting effects.

FPSs are not my cup of tea so I'll pass but nice to see those titles on GOG.com.

[quiet complaint]
No MicroProse release today? Not even small one? :-(

You need to mod these games just to get rid of the bugs

Merchito: Old and experienced gamer, but quite ignorant about FPS...
So the question is : Is this series better than Half-Life 2? Same type?
avatar
mrpalo: No, it's something real different.

I played only Call of prypiat and it is something in the middle of a First person RPG and a FPS.

You have FPS sessions/missions, but you need experience, new stuff to wear, power up weapons and so on to survive.
Okay, thanks. You sold it :)
Despite the fact I have one of these on disc and haven't played it yet. I got all excited for a moment, like a kid seeing that discount promo for all 3. Bought. Yep felt like a kid in a candy store, rather than just a survivor in a nuclear fall out zone.

Hell Yes! It is definitely better than Half-Life 2.

No it is not the same type as Half-Life 2. You can run and gun more in HL2, not all the time, but a lot more than S.T.A.L.K.E.R.. In S.T.A.L.K.E.R., running and gunning almost always means a quick death.

From what I remember HL2 had more physics type puzzles. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is all about staying alive.

There is also a lot of RPG type stuff in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.. No leveling or XP, but you have weight limitations and lots of equipment to haul around and use.
Now there's a good release.

And since the gods of WineHQ seem to smile upon these titles, I might even have to buy them :)
high rated

sebarnolds: Now, my backlog is quite impressive and I won't buy all 3 games. Is there a best one amongst those ? What are the difference between them ?
They're all sort of their own thing, but generally, Shadow of Chernobyl is regarded the best one, while Call of Pripyat the most polished one. More info follows.

Shadow of Chernobyl - it's the game which started it all, and it starts off with fairly nice and open environments in which you will find a lot of NPCs to talk to, a lot of secrets to discover, it's just a joy to hop around the irradiated wasteland there. It's sort of a middle ground between Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat - it's quite quest-driven, but not as much as CoP. It's quite random and radiant, but not as quite random and radiant as Clear Sky. What SoC does the best out of the three is atmosphere - it's quite brilliant in that department. Sadly, the second half of the game is far less open and far more focused on combat - not to say it's liner, not by a long shot. Nonetheless, it's a masterpiece and needs to be played, and as far as I'm concerned, the main storyline here is the best.

Clear Sky - Clear Sky is an extremely open game, where vast majority of content is not fixed. Most of the time, objectives and missions come from the faction wars mechanic, which is a system where there are two sides, and the AI of both is trying to take over a territory. That is a pretty great idea and it's fairly well implemnted as well, sadly, Clear Sky suffers from a number of other issues, including extremely weird gunplay where you feel like most of your shots have missed.

Call of Pripyat - CoP has the best quests and the most detailed world out of the three, it has the most interesting NPCs, you name it. It's also the most polished one - but it doesn't quite get close to the atmosphere of the first game, and it cuts down significantly on the radiant content, so you won't get nearly as much non-scripted stuff happening to you, which is probably the biggest issue of the third game.
My poor wallet! Noooooooooooo! ;-p

I tried to buy the trilogy couple years ago from GG but according to GG I was from Ukraine (no I'm not!) so games weren't available in my region. :-p Their loss.

I'm really sorry for your taste :D
Look how great package you could get by buying it! Great games, soundtracks in FLAC and mp3, wallpapers, artworks, concept art, manuals... It's totally awesome package I haven't seen in a long time here....

Kunovski: yep, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. isn't supposed to look pretty :)
I don't think that is the point of his post.
The Point is, Complete mod not only change graphics but also gameplay for far more casual friendly experience. If you want graphics you have plenty of mods to check. But people mosty know about Complete because it's easier to install and popular, despise it's not only changing graphics but also gameplay...which sucks as for me.

The irony of not being able to buy a Ukrainian-made game that is set in Ukraine, in Ukraine.

Crosmando: Do we get realMyst Masterpiece Edition today?
Not today. Sorry. We have nothing to report on that, at this time.
Hmmm... Is this game series really developed in Russia? I don't see any double-toilets here:

EDIT: Well, no! Ukraine! So that's why...
