Shadow of Chernobyl + Clear Sky + Call of Pripyat up to 70% off!

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat, the phenomenally immersive FPS survival horror series set in the terrifyingly believable radioactive "Zone" surrounding the explosion site of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, is available up to 70% off on GOG.com. That's only $14.97 for the set of three for the next 72 hours.

Not many people truly understand what it means to be a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. We're Scavengers, Trespassers, Adventurers, Loners, Killers, Explorers, and Robbers. Basically, what each of us is, is a bit of a soldier, a bit of a thief, a bit of a hunter, a bit of a nutjob, and a full-time basterd. Imagine what's happening in our heads. The Zone is calling for us ahead, new locations and unknown threats, spatial holes and monsters hiding in the fog, pitch-black nights and saving rays of a rising sun. You try to avoid anomalies and hide from blowouts, discover the Zone and collect artifacts, cure radioactive irradiation and fight for any stalker faction you like! This is the life, right? If only it didn't end so promptly, ever so often.

The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series delivers one of the most immersive and enthralling experiences in the history of first-person shooters. Calling it a "shooter", however, might be a bit of a stretch. The games' focus leans mostly towards exploration and stealth. In most cases, it's best to avoid encounters rather than face the dangers head-on. The Chernobyl exclusion zone is full of things that could kill you in an eyeblink. Strange creatures, physics-defying phenomena, not to mention the other men bold or insane enough to venture into the heart of eastern-european Twilight Zone. The competition is ruthless, as the prizes are great--the fascinating artifacts found in the forbidden land yield unbelievable prizes on the black market. If you think you have what it takes to become one of the fabled S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s, the whole story of the Chernobyl Zone opens before you: the original Shadow of Chernobyl, the prequel Clear Sky, and the sequel Call of Pripyat. All three games come with high-quality soundtracks encoded in lossless FLAC format.

For the next 72 hours, that is until Sunday, February 9, at 10:59 GMT, you can get the entire S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series 70% off, that is for only $14.97. Separately, the games come with 50% off discount for that time.

EDIT:
Now, that the release special offer has expired, the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games are priced at $19.99, $9.99, and $19.99 for Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Sky, and Call of Pripyat respectively. A permanent 20% off series discount still applies, if you get all three at the same time.

Nirth: Why is the MP3 soundtrack 1.1GB for Shadow of Chernobyl?
The soundtrack size wants to depress you before you start listening to it proper.

Fixed that typo :)
I'm not usually interested in horror games, so this series doesn't really interest me much... too bad :(

Fenixp: They're all sort of their own thing, but generally, Shadow of Chernobyl is regarded the best one, while Call of Pripyat the most polished one. More info follows.

Shadow of Chernobyl - it's the game which started it all, and it starts off with fairly nice and open environments in which you will find a lot of NPCs to talk to, a lot of secrets to discover, it's just a joy to hop around the irradiated wasteland there. It's sort of a middle ground between Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat - it's quite quest-driven, but not as much as CoP. It's quite random and radiant, but not as quite random and radiant as Clear Sky. What SoC does the best out of the three is atmosphere - it's quite brilliant in that department. Sadly, the second half of the game is far less open and far more focused on combat - not to say it's liner, not by a long shot. Nonetheless, it's a masterpiece and needs to be played, and as far as I'm concerned, the main storyline here is the best.

Clear Sky - Clear Sky is an extremely open game, where vast majority of content is not fixed. Most of the time, objectives and missions come from the faction wars mechanic, which is a system where there are two sides, and the AI of both is trying to take over a territory. That is a pretty great idea and it's fairly well implemnted as well, sadly, Clear Sky suffers from a number of other issues, including extremely weird gunplay where you feel like most of your shots have missed.

Call of Pripyat - CoP has the best quests and the most detailed world out of the three, it has the most interesting NPCs, you name it. It's also the most polished one - but it doesn't quite get close to the atmosphere of the first game, and it cuts down significantly on the radiant content, so you won't get nearly as much non-scripted stuff happening to you, which is probably the biggest issue of the third game.
Thanks for this^
Also, for a totally new player, what should be the order of playing them? Clear Sky being first as a prequel, then SoC and then CoP as the sequel?
Or is better to do them chronologically SoC->CS->CoP?

deonast: Despite the fact I have one of these on disc and haven't played it yet. I got all excited for a moment, like a kid seeing that discount promo for all 3. Bought. Yep felt like a kid in a candy store, rather than just a survivor in a nuclear fall out zone.
Moments like these are the ones that make you aware of what means "shoes" and "shoes sale" for women.
Well damn, thats gonna be the first game i buy for myself in the last couple of months i think. Kinda makes up for some of the shovelware you have released lately.
I was playing through Shadow of Chernobyl with the Stalker Complete mod last year, and it was brilliant, much better than the vanilla version. Give it a try!

Wishbone: Now, I haven't actually played any of these, and I'll happily accept that they may be truly fantastic games. Still, am I the only one who feels that a base price of $20 is somewhat high for a game that's 7 years old? This is Shadow of Chernobyl I'm talking about, naturally.
My theory still is that for many games that is simply because they don't expect many people to buy them outside of discount promos. So, this "70% off!" price is the real price the publisher expects most people to pay for it.

The higher default prices (that hardly anyone is ready to pay) are just there to allow deep discounts. I think that is also the reason why the price of some of those GOG RPGs were raised by the publisher earlier. People are more likely to buy a $10 game with a 50% discount, than a $5 game with a 0% discount.
THIS, if you guys want me to start to buy your games again, bring things like this. Human Revolution and Metal Gear Rising please!

Definitely chronologically, I feel. The gameplay mechanics kind of evolve over the course of the series, so I think it makes more sense to play them in the order they were released.
I just had to say thank you for bringing this series on GOG! Stalker should definately be part of every games collection. Already have two of them but Clear Sky is difficult to get by so this a great oppertunity. They are very atmospheric games, exploration is a lot of fun with all the run down buildings and remnants of more life-sustaining times. Furthermore the monsters and anomalies contribute to the incredibly intense threatening atmosphere .It's amazing how they managed to make the landscape look that close to reality (at least I think so, watching recordings and reading articles about it). If it wasn't for the square like maps and the rather unnerving travel function + sometimes irritatingly chaotic fights it would have been the ultimate perfection of a horror/surviving shooter . But anyway, a must buy for all people who haven't played them already. This release makes me urgently want to play them again...

A great week at gog coming to an end. Awesome Release!

I'd recommend starting the Stalker Series with the Autumn Aurora 2 Mod for Shadow of Chernobyl, it has just the perfect mood, and is way better than the Complete mod in my opinion.
