I feel bad for mentioning the dentist in SpellForce 1 now. Sorry for screwing up four release thread, Nordic Games!
I hate dentists since my youth...imagine his name is Fleischhacker (crude translation: Meathacker)....now run by his son.
But he still remembers me, cause once I've bitten him real hard :>
Considering that Faith in Destiny was unfinished garbage I'm quite cautious about buying this. I'll definitely be waiting to see what other people have to say about it before even considering putting down any money for it.

ThomNG: ...
Not related to Spellforce 2, but I want to encourage Nordic to release on GOG.com whatever older games/classics they don't currently have here, especially whatever classics were acquired by THQ, like http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/titan_quest. ;)

cmdr_flashheart: Not OP, but I was wondering- it's an RPG so I am guessing it has character building, but does that happen for a MC or multiple characters? I'd like to play a RTS with character building for a team or something, and this game seems story-oriented, so that's a plus. Thanks in adv.

Fenixp: IIRC you do get pernament companions who will level-up with you, but the RTS-styled units do not have any character development whatsoever.
Thanks for the info!
still no Faith in Destiny on GOG yet?? Can't win 'em all I guess.

mattymuc: @ThomNG, @Nordic Games: Thank you very much for bringing Demons of the Past DRM-free to GOG. I will buy it now :-)
I hope that I can complete my Spellforce collection with Faith in Destiny here on GOG soon.
I hope so too :)

I cannot say something on new releases or discussions behind the scenes but maybe February will be a good month if everything will go well :)

DyNaer: The "good" question is why those scenarios for Faith of Destiny ? Which in essence an expansion ...

i have some speculations (wikipedia isn't relliable) so i keep them for me.

still 27euros (out of the sales) on Steam with scenarios it's quite high :(

i could understand why GOG refused so far .

Nevertheless it's "somewhat " amusing to see the final expansion cheaper than the 3rd
Faith in Destiny is such a bad game with no quality at all (not in gameplay nor in voiceover or story), it really destroys the previous Spellforce experience. Metacritics gave it 55 but I would rate it somewhere in the 30s:
http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/spellforce-2-faith-in-destiny

So I would suggest you pass on this one. And I'm for sure waiting this time before I buy the next crap of a might-be-series-of-crap.

EDIT & PS: It is usually a very clear but never good sign if the press didn't get review copies in advance, in nearly all cases this is because the game sucks so hard, they have to fear the reviews.

Wintermute, you have every right to your opinion. Indeed Faith in Destiny was not the best game and in total decline compared to the previous Spellforce saga. Of course Jowood was allready in very heavy weather and the story was made by a spellforce fan.

The franchise is picked up by Nordic games and they seem to be blowing good life back into the franchise.
I gladly give them the benefit of the doubt.. After all this is not a tripple A game. Concerning reviews I simply gave up on that totaly because the game I like is the game I constantly play and are for the most part not the ones that got the raving brilliant reviews.

So no, I would never, without have played the game myself, try to convince people not to buy a game. The hybrid RPG/RTS is to unique to squander. Maybe interested parties should try out the Spellforce2 Shadow wars and Dragon storm wich are excellent games. The bad one is not even buyable on GOG.

Sorry, I hadn't made myself clear. With "I would pass on this one" I meant Faith in Destiny, about the new one I can't give any review. It's just a bad sign seeing no reviews anywhere, but I would be really happy to learn the new game is up to the old quality level. I had a good time playing the old titles of the series. But I felt ripped of with FiD I will wait until I see ingame Videos on Youtube and read some reviews.

But the Scenarios that were released as DLC were quite well done.
Spellforce: Faith in Destiny had three teams that worked on it. Was started by Phenomic ( the original devs ), continued by Trine Games ( indian devs, well known for the disaster that Gothic3: Forsaken Gods was ) and finished by Mind Over Matter Studios ( which has a few ex-Phenomic devs and was also responsible for the DLC's ). With such a troubled development, it's unbelievable that it actually got out...

ThomNG: Just check out my post on that topic on page 1 of this discussion thread:

Greetings
I know that you do not offer the soundtrack with the GOG release as it is a different price tier to get it on steam and GOG don't work that way. If there another place I can buy the soundtrack as a digital download? I noticed the steam description indicates the soundtrack is MP3 format. I'm a real fan of getting lossless FLAC, so I'll go out and buy a soundtrack if I can get that, if not I never really bother.

Yeah, that's what i was thinking too.

If the scenarios are good, well that doesn't justify it's current price. I think the day Nordic Games would accept a deal under 20 dollars , maybe GOG would be interested. Because they can't ask much more than Demons of the Past in my opinion . However i don't know how much they requested for FiD. (probably not less than Steam's price).

It's porssible GOG refused for some others reasons than the price, but it's just speculations.

18 dollar for a game expansion? You must be kidding. Pass.
