Space Colony HD, the high-definition version of the futuristic cross between real-time strategy and real-space-life simulation, is available now on GOG.com, for only $7.99! That's 20% off the regular price for one week.

Space Colony HD lets you build and manage a high-tech habitat to colonize an alien world. The range of facilities you can construct is impressive and the number of factors you need to keep track of will make this game a real challenge. But what's most interesting is that every single one of the colonist that inhabit your base has an elaborate personality. Some tend to cause trouble while other's are the grease that keep the gears of your colony go smoothly.

Check out for yourself what the makers of Stronghold Crusader HD cooked up for you up there, in the new frontier. Now you can experience it all in high definition! The nice guys from FireFly Studios have even prepared a short video explaining what's special about the game.

Join the colonists and contribute to what might be the beginning of the galactic human supremacy in Space Colony HD, for only $7.99 until Thursday, November 15, at 10:59AM GMT.

Telika: Was he talking about wharrgarble rage ?
He might've been. Most people who recognise the quote believe it was about Linux though.
Great release. Love the game and was hoping it would come to GOG ever since I joined, so an instant buy for me!
Thanks FireFly and GOG! My first insta-buy in quite a while. Love this game.
Well, glad I'm not the only one that pronounces it as a word instead of an acronym. Anyway. nice release. :)
Nice. I'd consider this an oldie at least, 2003 is almost 10 years ago. I must admit, however, that doing some research and seeing the original box art made me go "bleh".

Good times! I've been looking forward to this release. Instabuy!

Oh, Firefly, why can't you go back to making great 2D games rather than increasingly worse iterations of 3D Stronghold?

SLP2000: Will you add original (not HD) game to goodies?
Tell me, what would be the point of this? Aside from some minor additions to play through, it's really about the same as the Stronghold HD update: it supports higher resolutions as well as the original lower ones, with the primary game being unchanged. Frankly, the only reason why it makes sense to have kept the classic Strongholds on here is for multiplayer (different versions), but even then I see little point of keeping them around. As far as I can recall Space Colony doesn't even have multi, so there really is no point of providing two very slightly different versions.

AndyBuzz: But I must confess I appreciated more the way Firefly dev pronounced GOG.com, as it should always be, as a word.
Indeed. That's exactly the way I've always pronounced it. Spelling it out is silly, and it just sounds a bit stupid.

The more, the merrier. ;)

Stronghold update was not only about resolutions, it affected the game play.

I have no idea what was changed in Space Colony HD comparing to Space Colony (original). If it was only a support for HD, then fine. But if there were some other changes, then the point would be the same as with Strongold - some changes to the game play.

Wrong! Stronghold HD is exactly the same game, just with new resolution support. Crusader HD is the same as it comes with its original version as well as its Extreme variant. The latter, which was originally released on its own in 2008, is the only one that had new gameplay elements.

So, no real point of playing the classic versions anymore.
Another awesome FireFly Studios game on here. :)
I still own the original game, can I get the patch to update it with the HD resolution? Or I have to buy the game again?
SOLD!

Looks like some sort of shovelware title at first glance
high rated
GOG, can you guys please stick to a standart in terms of packaging the extras ?

Unzipping the soundtrack yields a folder named "space_colony_HD_soundtrack" - good packaging.

Unzipping the avatars, for instance, yields a folder named "avatars" - bad, bad packaging.
With hundreds of avatars, artworks, etc. folders, generic names simply don't cut it.

Please stick to the standart - when selecting 'extract here' the result will be a folder named: "name_of_the_game_"extra in question"

Having to rename a bunch of folders upon extraction is no big deal or anything but still...

As stated by Firefly:
As with Stronghold HD and Stronghold Crusader HD a free patch for existing owners of the game will be released soon, upgrading them to the new HD version at no extra cost.
