60 feet of metallic mayhem.

Slave Zero, a classic giant robot shooter action game set in the rioting streets of a futuristic mega-city full of mechanized enemies to smash, is available on GOG.com, for only $5.99.

Slave Zero happens 500 years in the future. Man and machine are virtually one, and the greatest megacity in the world is locked in a brutal war. Mammoth, bio-mechanical monsters tear at the sky, and the earth shakes with the full fury of a brutal battle. These are the warriors of the future, when war escalates to massive proportions, and immense power of destruction engulfs the streets. Harness the power, make a difference. Take control. Become Slave Zero! Control 60 feet of raw robotic power, make your way up the buildings that reach 7 miles into the sky, rampage through a city filled with hover cars, ground traffic, and screaming humans fleeing for their lives. Now, isn't that the most fun one can have at the helm of a titanic war machine?

If the one thing you look forward the most to in the future is the ability to control giant robots and lay havoc on the whole metropolis, you can have a taste of all the great things to come with Slave Zero, for only $5.99 on GOG.com.
It's a pity there is no trailer on the game card.

One of the things I remember about this game is that, like no other "giant robot" game I had seen before, it managed to convey a true sense of scale to the player. Most other games featuring huge characters made it seem like the character wasn't particularly big after all, but rather that the scenery had been miniaturized. In Slave Zero however, you really did get the sense that the city was actually city-sized, and that the robot you controlled was huge.

The screenshots don't convey this very well.
Only one more scheduled release date in March so... fingers crossed that Thursday's release is Pegasus Prime.

placa4: Wow, I loved this game. Now bring Recoil! :D

Nobody remember recoil xD (it's a game of tanks)
I have that one on CD - played it only 6 or 7 years ago :). It's a game of tanks & hover cars and submarines IIRC (since your tank could morph into all three shapes.)

Nice game. Got hopelessly lost on one level, and had to use a walkthrough to figure out where to go.

Also own Slave Zero - fun but pretty shallow. Last boss battle was frustrating - the boss itself wasn't all that hard, but it was a humongous bullet sponge and depending on which weapons you carry into the last level, you might not be able to kill it before running out of ammo! The first time I entered the level I carried in the most powerful weapons - but they used too much ammo. Had to reload the previous level and come in with more ammo efficient loadout and then I had no problem.

InfraSuperman: By the way, does anybody remember Future Cop L.A.P.D.?
I do, although I've only played a demo of it, I think... Probably back on the first Playstation?

Anyhow, aren't classic releases normally added to the site on Thursday? And here I thought I had this GOG thing figured out.

I played the PC demo off a PC Gamer disk. Seemed fun, but very crash prone. IIRC it would actually crash my PC when I would try to quit it.

I had never played or heard of this game until a few days ago, but it seems to have a good share of fans. Cool to see it on GOG. :)
Great! I could swear I had voted for it yesterday on the wish-list. Nice to see a wish come true so fast.

Don't know about the crashes, but yeah, it was pretty cool. I'd probably give it another try, if they brought it to GOG.

It's been a while since I played, but I think you controlled some sort of police assault mech, with the ability to transform it into a faster hover-vehicle of some sort... ?

Maybe they did it just for you ...?!

Quick, vote for some other cool games and see what happens! :D

Yay, another classic release I didn't know. I have heard or read the title a few times but that's it. Looks pretty cool.
I've only tried the Dreamcast version and it felt super clunky - is the PC version much better?

I doubt it, I had recently also voted for Army Men :P

Not only is the control scheme much better suited to M+keyboard, but the Dreamcast version was an horrendous port with a framerate in the single digits, the entire soundtrack except the intro and ending themes cut, glitches up the wazoo, toned down enemy placement (with at least one enemy type cut from the game entirely)... etc. The PC version is so much better it's not funny.

You guys are just trolling us. :V
Awsome! I'll grab this next month when I have money. I have the CD, but you know the drill.

Just curious what settings this has enabled for the little people. I have actually owned two copies of this game over the years. With the first copy I had the little people were all white. You could edit an ini file to give them different color clothes and enable blood when they die. I actually found that out in a gaming magazine. I lost that copy long ago, but reacquired the game in a thrift store. That copy had both the settings on by default. No need to edit the file.

Telika: Are there actually pedestrians and building-climbing ?

The videos show it to be more of a reskinned quake-ish shooter than a kingkong mech simulator. Are they misleading ?
There are pedestrians and building climbing of a sort. Its not a simulator at all though. its a third person shooter. You won't forget that your a mech though. As others have said, this game conveys its sense of scale very effectively.

fronzelneekburm: I honestly never heard of this, but I'm already digging the Cyberpunk vibe. Is this anything like Shogo?
Shogo is probably closer to Half-Life than Slave Zero, but if you like Shogo then there is a decent enough chance you will like Slave Zero. Its not very strong on the story though, and does tend to drag on some. But yea, its got a great Cyberpunk Vibe to it.
