The most dangerous game?

Sir, You are Being Hunted, a procedurally-generated British horror game in which tweed-wearing robots hunt you for sport, is now on GOG.com for $16.99 (15% off the full price) until 9:59 AM GMT on 08 May 2014.

The door opens. A gentleman of the robotic persuasion stands before, puffing gently on an anachronistic pipe. In its hands, a tray: on the tray, a card with subtle off-white coloring. It's tastefully thick--it even has a watermark! On it, the simple, dreaded salutation: Sir, you are being hunted. And with that, the horror unfolds...

In Sir, You are Being Hunted, you visit a procedurally-generated world where robots in tweed hunt you whilst guzzling tea and gobbling crumpets. You, in turn, must run, must hide, and must gather together the supplies to fight back. Even once you're armed, it's hardly a sure thing that you will manage to resist the uncaring hordes of upper-crust automata and survive the deadly hunt, as the brutal AI learns from you and gets tougher as you play.

With a variety of biomes, a smattering of foes, a dash of weapons, and a soupçon of bizarre gadgetry, Sir, You are Being Hunted is, without a doubt, the oddest entry to the survival horror genre in quite some time, but the fine team at the appropriately-named Big Robot, Ltd have brought it all together to make a fantastic experience. MJVandershonk: Its definitely a case of the devs not officially supporting those OS, but I don't know why there's no official vista support since to my knowledge Microsoft still supports that OS.
The lack of Vista support probably has two main reasons. The first, Microsoft ended Mainstream Support for Vista April 10, 2012. The second, Vista has an incredibly small market share estimated between and [url=http://www.netmarketshare.com/operating-system-market-share.aspx?qprid=10&qpcustomd=0]3% on the web and and less than 4% on Steam.

For those of you worried about the technical state of the game:

It runs very well on my Windows 7 64-bit machine at home. The only long loading time you have is when the islands are first being generated (keep in mind that procedural generation still takes time). Going between the islands is done quickly with very short load times. As far as crashes, I think I've played for about 8 hours now and I haven't seen a single crash and I am running the game with everything maxed out. YMMV, of course :)

This was on version 1.0 of the game :)

What's cool is that the game ramps up the difficulty ever so slightly :)

Also, I love the dogs in this game! The actually go "Woof! Woof!"and "Bark! Bark!"

That's interesting, I had no idea Vista was discontinued, I guess extended XP support made me think vista was still supported.

Vista's Extended Support means it will still get security patches like XP did for 3 more years. The lack of Mainstream Support more or less means no more sales or new features, the start of the decline for that OS. Although for Vista, sales seemed to end as soon as 7 came out and a number of users got free upgrades. That probably contributed to the low representation of Vista in the OS stats.

OK, after seeing everything on sales here and elsewhere this weekend, doing some calculations, I decided I could afford it and the other games I want which is good since I really want to encourage the publisher/programmers/designers.

Weird looking characters are normally a turn off for me but in this game it works.

And I can't believe how small the game file is. (I can't believe I consider that small when I remember I used to gripe at games taking more than one or two floppies...).

It probably won't be a next XP since Microsoft is pushing for new Directx 12 to be only available for WIN 8 and with Win 8.2 update the System should get back to normal. Win 7 won't support Directx 12 and other new Microsoft products - fazit its being abandoned - only security updates are left.
