Urban planner's single-player offline paradise!

SimCity™ 4 Deluxe Edition, the fan-favorite iteration in the long line of legendary urban planning simulations with a myriad of design options and factors to tweak and track, creating the ultimate sense of life-like complexity, is available 75% off on GOG.com. That's only $4.99 for the next 72 hours! Includes the Rush Hour expansion pack.

It all started 30 years ago, in 1984. An up-and-coming brilliant game designer by the name of Will Wright created an incredibly believable virtual city that astound the gamers with its level of detail and the amount of little things that were constantly happening in it. The city, though, served only the purpose of an interesting background to an action-focused title, Raid on Bungeling Bay. It would surely feel like a waste to see such a sophisticated simulation only as a "bells-and-whistles" addition. Luckily, 5 years later, Will Wright gave the gaming world the first SimCity game. The one we offer you today, the fourth--and according to many gamers, the best--part of the series is the result of almost a quarter of century worth of a concept's evolution.

In SimCity™ 4 Deluxe Edition you don't just build your city, you breathe life into it. Create a megalopolis by weaving together a tapestry of cities ranging from a bedroom community to a high tech urban center or a vacation destination to a farming village. You can create a region of interconnected cities sharing and competing for resources that are linked by a fully integrated transportation network. Use "god-like" powers to create mountain ranges, carve valleys, and lay rivers to construct the most realistic metropolis imaginable. The new simulation engine offers immediate feedback so you can react to the needs of an expanding metropolis. Now individual buildings and their lots provide you with feedback. Use the My Sim features to personalize your Sim and immediately move him or her into any area and watch them experience life around town and get instant feedback on the city's progress. Each decision has a greater impact and gives you the ability to respond more effectively. The DRM-Free Deluxe Edition offered here, comes complete with the Rush Hour expansion, for an even more in-depth urban experience!

Every game in this great series offers the player hundreds of hours of fun and easily adjustable challenge to create a sense of immersion in a living, breathing metropolis. They all come with their very own special flavor, but most gamers agree that SimCity™ 4 Deluxe Edition is the most delicious dish of them all. Grab it now, on GOG.com, for only $4.99! Remember to hurry, because the 75% release discount offer lasts for 72 hours only, that is until Sunday, June 1, at 9:59AM GMT.
Although I have already purchased steam version, but i could not resist buy this game again!:-)...Thank you!!!!
Bluetext it's saying 19.99 on the front page again (at least for me). I'd look into fixing that.

EDIT: Nevermind discount's back, we're good. ;)

blotunga: Hmmm, on steam the base price is only 10 (and 20 USD for US) euros, it seems this is one of the rare cases where steam is cheaper...
Not for me it isn't, Normal price on steam for me is US $19.99 currently $9.99 on special which means for 68 hours or so GOG has the better pricing then they end up on the same pricing.

Steam is only cheaper for some regions I guess, and I've tried to buy as another region with steam, vpn etc but the Credit card or Palpal location stuff always foils me. Only tried it for a game or two where the US price for Australians was way higher then the US folks even pay.

So very happy, I'll be picking this up today.

tfishell: Similar to Reddit, remember that GOG members are not one giant entity. We all have a variety of opinions, and some people just aren't interested in SC4! I don't view it as complaining so much as giving a different perspective, but I guess some people feel the need to downvote because they're different.
Hey I have no problems with people not being excited by the game, each to their own. I'm a little bemused however about the folks complaining about the price. Even for those dealing with Euros on steam, it is still cheaper on the current special than steam and that is assuming steam has a half price deal for Euros on this game currently.

IAmSinistar: Excellent information, thanks very much. It sounds much deeper that the original, and I am especially attracted to the idea of interlinked municipalities that coexist in creative ways. Nice that it has such an big mod community too, though I seldom have enough time to play all the games I want to, much less expand them. :)
No problem, I wish it was more detailed but the years have passed and I haven't picked it up in awhile since I couldn't get it to run it properly on my PC... but I still think it is the last good SimCity game released.
I mostly played with just one city, it ended up being too complex for me playing with multiple ones but you can see on the internet some wonderful things that people were able to do with it like this project that reproduced NYC boroughs on SimCity4
And I didn't even mention its iconic soundtrack with tracks that got you in "the SimCity mood" like this one

Well, I didn't see that coming!

Crosmando: Hey guys, if you wan to play this game in widescreen resolutions, go to properties of the shortcut on your desktop and add "-CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1080 -introff" to the end of the target line (without the quotation marks). Change the "r1920x1080" part to to whatever you resolution you want.
Thanks for this. It really makes the game better on widescreen monitor.

Yes, not every game worth only $5 or $10, and I think the price point of this game is fair in view of it's popularity. Now it is heavily discounted to $5, asking more discount kind of feel like a sin

Thats true but I think the people are complaining more about the full price than anything else, which at the moment does not really matter with the whopping 75% discount and game price of 3.73 -3.83€.

And bought...My first purchase since February. I would rather have had 3000, but this is a good start and at a good price.
Strange, the promotional banner on the home page for me shows it full price and sometimes show's the discount. At any rate, I had to pick up a spare for this one!

EDIT: Discount has been showing for quite some time now. Looks like it worked its way through :)
