Beware the eagle!

Shelter, a unique exploration and survival game that lets you experience the wonders and hardships of an animal life in a beautiful surrounding of the colorful virtual forest, is available 10% off on GOG.com. That's only $8.99 for the first week!

For many of us, the most appealing part of gaming is the ability to see the world from a different perspective, and experience a life much different from our own. For the most part, games take us to different universes to achieve that. When you think about it, though, there's a whole different world neighboring the realm of humans: the animal kingdom. To us, each forest is an undiscovered land that we'll never be able to explore and understand in full. To do that, one would have to be able to look at it through the eyes of an animal. Breathe in all the fascinating scents, follow all of its hidden paths, feel the moist dirt beneath your clawed paws--experience the life of a forest critter. Not many games explore this fascinating setting. This one does, and it does it beautifully!

Shelter lets you roam the wild as a mother badger, taking care of her jaunty little cubs. The wild is beautiful and bountiful, but don't take Mother Nature's generosity for granted, and don't feel too confident. You'll need to explore your surroundings in search of water, food, and safe haven, while constantly keeping an eye out for the lurking predators. Danger waits at every step, especially for your furry children. Hunger, cold, and death--that's what the fate has in store for them, if you don't tend to them properly. Terrifying as it may sound, the game's beautiful graphics and meditative soundtrack by Retro Family will grant you many moments of awe and relaxed bliss.

Into the wild, friends! If you like unique gaming experiences, get Shelter for only $8.99 on GOG.com. The release 10% discount offer lasts until Wednesday, September 4, at 9:59AM GMT.
NOOOOOOO BABY BADGER NOOOO T_T

(amazing game concept, I will get this eventually, though I'll probably get way too attached to my baby badgers and get really sad when they all die)
Looks interesting. I'll buy it sooner or later (probably later considering my backlog). To be honest I would prefer to see and [url=http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/lion]Lion here, but I'm not complaining. Especially because I own both of them ;P I'll tell you a good story about Wolf: me and my friend were playing the game a lot back in 90s. One day he came a bit late and looked very tired. Somebody asked him "what's up?" and he answered: "I spent a whole night but finally I figured out how to mate". It was hilarious :D
Looks like a very nice and refreshing game, this one really has my attention
I'm going to wishlist it, probably get it on the christmas offers. It does look promising, setting wise. Hoping the gameplay doesn't disappoint, but I'm willing to give it a push anyway for the interesting setting alone.
Looks very appealing! Definitely interesting, would love to play this game.
But... one question: do your cubs die when you fail to protect them? I'm too sensitive to bear that if it's the case in the game.

By the same people who created Pid, which I absolutely loved.

Unfortunately, this is not my cup of tea. Animal lover here, and I'd find it just too disturbing.

Nice concept for those who aren't easily upset by the death of animals, even animated ones, and a nice addition to GOG.

A pass for me, though.
So this is what i get on my birthday? Well, it's not a platformer.. ;)

I am sorry but yes, they do.

But you can protect them by using your environment such as tall grass to hide in when an eagle is soaring above you...

not as sensitive when you die in an RPG and you fail to save THE WHOLE WORLD? :D

A death is a tragedy, a million is a statistic. Or something like that, I suppose.

And what GOG doesn't tell you is that on a successful playthrough the eagle mother's fledglings will starve to death! :(

Maybe RPGs should replace the chatty sidekick henchmen with cute little kittens, so that you actually feel guity and sorry for them, too, if you fail to protect them, instead of just being annoyed? ;)

Now I'm DEFINITELY not buying it :)
When I saw "Cubs will die" I thought 'instant buy' until I realized you were talking about the animals and not the baseball players. Now I'm all depressed. Think I'll play some Carmageddon to get me out of this funk.
