A whole new campaign!

Shadowrun: Dragonfall, a fully-fledged expansion pack for the recent old-school RPG gem set in the legendary setting where cyberpunk meets fantasy, bringing in a whole new 12 hour-long campaign and many improvements to the gameplay, is available on GOG.com for only $14.99. The basic game, Shadowrun Returns, is available for $14.99 as well. That's 25% off for the base game for the next two weeks.

In 2012, magic returned to our world, awakening powerful creatures of myth and legend. Among them was the Great Dragon Feuerschwinge, who emerged without warning from the mountains of Germany unleashing fire, death, and untold destruction across the countryside. It took German forces nearly four months to finally shoot her down - and when they finally did, the event became known as the Dragonfall. It’s 42 years later, and a new threat is rising, one that could mean untold chaos and devastation. One that soon has you and your team caught on the wrong side of a deadly conspiracy. The only clue: whispers of the Dragonfall. Rumors that the Great Dragon Feuerschwinge may still be alive, waiting for the right moment to return…

Shadowrun: Dragonfall, transports runners to the Free City of Berlin, a thrilling Shadowrun setting full of gorgeous new hi-res environments, a diverse new cast of characters, and a new soundtrack by Sam Powell, the composer of the original Sega Genesis Shadowrun game. You'll lead a small team of shadowrunners, each with their own outlook and backstory. The members of your team are designed to play unique roles during missions, and each has a distinct set of skills, abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. Now, you can save your progress at any time during the game. The new save-game functionality is available in new downloads of Shadowrun Returns and through a patch for all existing copies.

If you miss the times when expansions added enough content to the game to more than make up for their price, you need to grab Shadowrun: Dragonfall, for only $14.99 on GOG.com. Don't have the base game yet? No problem! Shadowrun Returns is discounted by 25%, making it available for only $14.99 as well, until Thursday, March 13, at 5:59PM GMT.

RS1978: Attention German players:

Shadowrun DLC is NOT translated in German, the information stated on GOG's shop site is wrong. Currently only the main game is available with an uncomplete German translation.

JudasIscariot: Sorry about that and I've removed German from the list of languages for the DLC. Again, sorry about unintentionally misleading anyone here :(
It's not a big deal, I'm sure German language support will be given later. In this case, English version seems to be better anyway. The main thing is that we can get it DRM-free at the same time like Steam, that's an important step for the DRM-free revolution! ;)

Caladus: Eventually the DRM Free revolution will have to come up with a Steam Workshop type method for mods.

gandalf.nho: For some games at least we have the Nexus
Nexus is awesome for sure. I just hate how 'manual' it all is. I wish it was more automated.

Well, here's the thing:

There's German for the various buttons and such before you start the campaign but the DLC campaign's text and conversations that I just saw are in English so I am not sure I can leave German on the page at this time :/
It's nice to see a game with an actual expansion for once. I'll definitely get this on sale someday.

That's quite simple: Main game and DLC are sharing some standard texts like menu buttons and similar things. If these are translated in the main game, they are tranlated in the DLC as well, since both use the same source for it. But all the specific campaign texts such as dialogues, location descriptions or mission briefings are in English.

De facto, the DLC is only available in English at the moment - no one plays a game only for looking at the menu buttons after all. :p

DieRuhe: Damn. I knew I'd regret buying Shadowrun Returns! I love it, but I try to stay away from "Here's our game. Sort of. Come back later and buy more." I guess I'm just an old fogey; I remember complete games and free dlc. :-)

mkell_226: This release was planned from the beginning, and was offered free to backers as a stretch goal. The game was also intended to rely a fair amount on user-created content.
Yeah, I just went against my general principles because I really wanted the game, but I don't think I'll try to keep up with it. And, subjectively, "12+ hours" is, to me, more like a side quest than a "full length campaign".
Will wait for at least Shadowrun Campaign Pack before buying anything shadowrun related
I thought this was a stretch goal.

Oh wait, that's right. They decided to cut it out to release the game early (after reaching the stretch goal) and then charge people for it even though they already bought it.

Sad to see gog supporting this theft.
Will wait until the game is complete. I don't buy partial games.
I wish they would call a proper expansion an expansion instead of labelling it DLC.
at GOG: when possible please add a deluxe upgrade dlc
at Caladus: i think the main problem is download bandwidth from gog, they need to come up with some spinoff of torrents that allows only owners of a specific game or set of games to share content. (this may already exist since humble/groupees etc offer dl via torrent sometimes) this way a customer could download a game with a unofficial patch set, common mod-set, or a total conversion, know that the compilation as a whole had been debugged without having to worry about mod conflicts and without hurting gog by eating their bandwidth.
Great release, but without the available Linux option here, I'll have to go with the other DRM free option.
Aaand...KS-Backer-code redeemed. :o)
Nice from HBS to remember that I asked them for a GOG-code for "Dead man's switch", after SR:R got available on GOG.com and deliver me the same automatically for the Berlin-campaign.

JinseiNGC224: Would you know if they plan any other expansions, based on what they said during the kickstarter?
Nothing concrete, but there was some talk about "the ork underground" and a possible "Hong Kong" add-on, since in the survey, where they asked the Backers, which City they want for another campaign, HK made the second place after Berlin.

Edit: spelling

Immoli: I thought this was a stretch goal.
It was a stretch goal, and if you backed the game on Kickstarter you get it for free. If you were cheap, unsupportive, or for whatever other reason did not chose to support Harebrained Schemes in making the game you don't get it for free.

How is that theft?
Real shame there is no good bundle deal. Like most I got the original on Steam and I'm not paying $15 to replace it. So now I have to get the expansion on Steam.

Oh well.
