A whole new campaign!

Shadowrun: Dragonfall, a fully-fledged expansion pack for the recent old-school RPG gem set in the legendary setting where cyberpunk meets fantasy, bringing in a whole new 12 hour-long campaign and many improvements to the gameplay, is available on GOG.com for only $14.99. The basic game, Shadowrun Returns, is available for $14.99 as well. That's 25% off for the base game for the next two weeks.

In 2012, magic returned to our world, awakening powerful creatures of myth and legend. Among them was the Great Dragon Feuerschwinge, who emerged without warning from the mountains of Germany unleashing fire, death, and untold destruction across the countryside. It took German forces nearly four months to finally shoot her down - and when they finally did, the event became known as the Dragonfall. It’s 42 years later, and a new threat is rising, one that could mean untold chaos and devastation. One that soon has you and your team caught on the wrong side of a deadly conspiracy. The only clue: whispers of the Dragonfall. Rumors that the Great Dragon Feuerschwinge may still be alive, waiting for the right moment to return…

Shadowrun: Dragonfall, transports runners to the Free City of Berlin, a thrilling Shadowrun setting full of gorgeous new hi-res environments, a diverse new cast of characters, and a new soundtrack by Sam Powell, the composer of the original Sega Genesis Shadowrun game. You'll lead a small team of shadowrunners, each with their own outlook and backstory. The members of your team are designed to play unique roles during missions, and each has a distinct set of skills, abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. Now, you can save your progress at any time during the game. The new save-game functionality is available in new downloads of Shadowrun Returns and through a patch for all existing copies.

If you miss the times when expansions added enough content to the game to more than make up for their price, you need to grab Shadowrun: Dragonfall, for only $14.99 on GOG.com. Don't have the base game yet? No problem! Shadowrun Returns is discounted by 25%, making it available for only $14.99 as well, until Thursday, March 13, at 5:59PM GMT.

Matruchus: Yeah I know they are just saying we cant confirm the badges on the uniform if they are russian. I mean common what about the russian tanks there and MI-24 attack helicoptes. The same happened in Gruzzia 4 years ago.
I lived in Georgia near Abkhazia, so I know how Russia does things. I hope for peace in the region.

Yeah me too.
This campaign is much better than the original one. Much more open, much better missions. It's a shame it seems doomed to obscurity.

I agree. Although I really liked Dead Man's Switch too. I'm having a really good time with this game.
Loving Dragonfall so far. Definitely non-linear in its approach compared to Seattle. Not to mention having sidequests now and having a distinct identity to them.
So, while we are at it...
I got the base game since yesterday and so far, I can see why some have issues with it, but I still kinda like it so far. Anyhow, I am wondering, since my girlfriend likes RPG's but basically dislikes the battles.... is there any really roleplay focused mod anyone would recommend?

I also would take mode recommendations in general.

Won't spoil it, but searching computers for data, passwords and formulas just to complete optional objectives is full of win!

That's great to hear. I was wondering about that particular aspect of the new campaign. Even some of the fan missions did a better job at non-linearity and side missions than the main game. I'm glad they added some of those concepts to the new official release.

Shadowrun Returns probably isn't the ideal game for her, then. Some of the mods I tried had more emphasis on story and dialogue, but battles were usually still a major element. Theoretically it would be possible to create a non-combat mission, just not sure if any of the modders out there are motivated to give it a try -- the tactical combat is arguably the heart of the game, after all.

Dragonfall is so much better than DMS it's not even funny. And very hard difficulty feels hard unlike in DMS. Enemies hit me with shotguns across the room for heavy crit dmg while I miss with pistols like 60% of the time with my npcs.

That's actually one aspect I did not like about the game; it seems combat can be very luck dependant. Often failure or success in a battle depends on which side gets in the most lucky critical hits for extra damage. Or other times you have a very high accuracy / chance to hit, and yet you keep missing several attacks in a row. Would be nice if combat was based more on tactics and only slightly on "dice rolls" ( similar to how they've handled it in The Banner Saga, i.e. ).

Still, overall I enjoyed the first campaign, and it sounds like this expansion is even better, so I'll make sure to buy a copy soon. The new content should help boost the modder/ fan-mission community, too.

I finished it this morning and have to agree. Well Done HBS. Well Done.

Such an awesome story, with lots of extra lore and detail if you desire, so many important difficult choices, combat scenarios that were challenging. I can't wait to roll through it again with a different character.

Anyone that enjoyed the original campaign at all should get Dragonfall to experience the game as it should be.
Do you think Shadowrun returns would run on amd radeon hd 7520g?

The 7520g isn't dedicated video and shares ram with the system so you might have some issues.

But I'm guessing it would still run fine. I run it on a 4 year old notebook (with dedicated video however) and it plays fine if a little bit slow when scrolling around and zoomed out.

Thanks for the reply Ive never really ran any games on this except for Torchlight 2 and HOMM3 !
It is nice to finally see a REAL expansion pack for a fair price in today's world when overpriced shit DLC has become what is normal. Next time, I have money available for games, I'm buying Shadowrun Returns and this. These Harebrained Schemes guys deserve some support.
