A whole new campaign!

Shadowrun: Dragonfall, a fully-fledged expansion pack for the recent old-school RPG gem set in the legendary setting where cyberpunk meets fantasy, bringing in a whole new 12 hour-long campaign and many improvements to the gameplay, is available on GOG.com for only $14.99. The basic game, Shadowrun Returns, is available for $14.99 as well. That's 25% off for the base game for the next two weeks.

In 2012, magic returned to our world, awakening powerful creatures of myth and legend. Among them was the Great Dragon Feuerschwinge, who emerged without warning from the mountains of Germany unleashing fire, death, and untold destruction across the countryside. It took German forces nearly four months to finally shoot her down - and when they finally did, the event became known as the Dragonfall. It’s 42 years later, and a new threat is rising, one that could mean untold chaos and devastation. One that soon has you and your team caught on the wrong side of a deadly conspiracy. The only clue: whispers of the Dragonfall. Rumors that the Great Dragon Feuerschwinge may still be alive, waiting for the right moment to return…

Shadowrun: Dragonfall, transports runners to the Free City of Berlin, a thrilling Shadowrun setting full of gorgeous new hi-res environments, a diverse new cast of characters, and a new soundtrack by Sam Powell, the composer of the original Sega Genesis Shadowrun game. You'll lead a small team of shadowrunners, each with their own outlook and backstory. The members of your team are designed to play unique roles during missions, and each has a distinct set of skills, abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. Now, you can save your progress at any time during the game. The new save-game functionality is available in new downloads of Shadowrun Returns and through a patch for all existing copies.

If you miss the times when expansions added enough content to the game to more than make up for their price, you need to grab Shadowrun: Dragonfall, for only $14.99 on GOG.com. Don't have the base game yet? No problem! Shadowrun Returns is discounted by 25%, making it available for only $14.99 as well, until Thursday, March 13, at 5:59PM GMT.
Someone actually released DLC with fully fleshed out content? Amazing! :)

ShadowWulfe: Honestly I kind of hope they keep adding modules to Shadowrun. Kind of like one those board games that just keeps going.
There are quite a number of user-created content for this. I wonder what's the progress for the user-remake of the original SNES Shadowrun campaign.
scratch that...

At first I could NOT get the Dragonfall DLC to install (Mac OSX 10.9) -- it wanted Shadowrun app in the Applications folder. Moved the app from the Games folder I had it in and still no luck. However, after redownloading it, I realized it must want the app in the original Shadowrun Returns folder that the game is presented with out of the .dmg file. I left the Shadowrun app in the Shadowrun Returns folder and moved that into the Applications directory, and viola! it worked.

So, on OS X, if you can't get the DLC to install make sure the game is in:
Applications | Shadowrun Returns | Shadowrun.app

BTW, atypical for a Mac installation. The patch file should find it or ask the user to locate it, not quit with an error if it's not exactly where you expected it to be.

I'm more interested in a remake of the Genesis version, I much preferred it to the SNES release despite it not being on my favorite system.
Opening mission is already packed with neat moments and cool combat. Happy.

Hehe, I was waiting for the OH SNAP moment and it just happened.
Huh, I thought that they wouldn't be able to make any of the DLCs or mod content available for the DRM free version.

Meh, plans change it would seem. From what I've read people seem to be installing stuff without problems.

The article is from a long time ago, and so far they've seemed to change their tune quite a bit in a good way.

Edit: A lot of times certain textures don't seem to load properly and I have to reload the game for them to show up. This didn't happen with the original Shadowrun so what is the issue?

So can anyone confirm that now you can save wherever in the original Shadowrun campaign? Also, is there a list of improvements to the original game anywhere? I assume this is like using the BG2 engine to run BG1, or am I totally misreading this?

I thought Shadowrun was a kinda fun but incredibly flawed product upon release, I'm curious how I'll feel about this campaign. Does anyone know if it's made by the same people?

PaterAlf: Didn't they originally plan to release a Shadowrun Campaign Pack as well (including original game and DLC)? What happened to that?

"Dragonfall will launch at $14.99 and we’ll also release the Shadowrun Campaign Pack on the same day. The campaign pack contains the original game and the Dragonfall expansion in one package for only $24.99. We think it’s a great way to get new players into Shadowrun." (from the Harebrained homepage)
Hopefully the Shadowrun Campaign Pack comes out later. I purchased Shadowrun Returns during its GOG release sale for 40% off, reasoning that I'd only be paying $2 more (or perhaps paying less if the expansion had a release discount) to get the original game at that time and Dragonfall at release (total $26.98 instead of $24.99). Also, I wanted to support Harebrained bringing Shadowrun Returns to GOG sooner rather than later.

If the SCP gets cancelled, perhaps these could receive a series discount on GOG, perhaps 15-20% off for purchasing both at once (so $29.73 or $27.98 for the bundle instead of $34.98).

@GOG & Harebrained:

I'm glad to see this here on release day. Much appreciated. Thanks! :)
Unfortunately for me I bought the core game on Steam before it was available here :(

If I buy the DLC here will it work with my Steam version core game?

JudasIscariot: If you already have the GOG version of Shadowrun Returns the first thing you should do is re-download the installer for the base game as it's been updated to version 1.2 and the DLC requires Shadowrun to be at version 1.2 in order to install and run.

Once that's done, just download the DLC installer and run it like normal :)
Hm, I seem to have a problem here.
I re-installed the base game (version 2.1.0.6), launched it, but there is no link to the DLC ingame, nor (and here comes the problem) is there a download link in my library...?

I made a screenshot, so you see my problem.

I understand this as the GOG DLC not working with the Steam core game, unfortunately.

Change your preferred Installer version to English, than you will get the download link for the DLC. :)

(There isn't a German version from the DLC available yet.)
