A 2014 digital release of the 1993 remake of the 1984 classic!

Seven Cities of Gold: Commemorative Edition, a robust classic historical sim/strategy game about the expeditions to the New World, is available for only $5.99 on GOG.com.

As a fledgling 15th century explorer you have been given a mandate by the Spanish Crown to set sail for the New World and establish new settlements for the fortune and glory of Spain. You will have complete control over every aspect of your expedition - from the initial provisioning of your voyage, to the construction of forts and missions on newly discovered continents. Key to your survival will be how you interact with the native population of the New World - negotiate with a tribe’s Chief to establish peaceful trade ties or wipe out entire villages and plunder their resources.

Seven Cities of Gold: Commemorative Edition lets you step into the role of Christopher Columbus and chart a course to an unknown world of discovery, exploration, and conquest! The Commemorative Edition of Seven Cities of Gold is a remake of the 1984 classic, featuring enhanced graphics and sound. Choose to explore a historically accurate map of the Americas in the 15th century or a randomly generated New World. Hire men for your journey and equip your ship with food, animals, arms, and other items for trading. Command a series of daring expeditions to the New World - take control of mapping uncharted wilderness, building far-flung outposts, and establishing trade relations with over 8 different indigenous tribes.

Fill up your coffers as you trade, loot, or mine your way to new resources and treasures in Seven Cities of Gold: Commemorative Edition, for only $5.99 on GOG.com!

The GOG.com crew would like to heartily thank our user IAmSinistar for making this release possible! This is yet another game that made its way into our classic catalog with the help of our fantastic community.
not familiar with this game but looks really cool!

Classics like this are always welcome here
Holy crap! Seven Cities of Gold???? Seriously? Wow! Someone threw that out as a guess last week and I saw it and thought to myself "naw, that's unlikely, that game is super ancient and they'd probably need Indiana Jones himself to uncover the trail of legal crap to get it". LOL

Wow, I have never even played Seven Cities of Gold on PC before, but I played the hell out of it on Commodore 64 back in like 1986 or so. It was a lot of fun back then and is no doubt the pre-cursor to many exploration/4x type games that have come since, such as Pirates Gold for example.

Added to GOG wishlist, this one should be a real trip down memory lane but presumably with better graphics than the C64. hehehe

Good job on this one IAmSinistar!

TurnipSlayerr: Big thanks to IAmSinistar for his help in getting in touch with the rights holder! Your efforts are very much appreciated by myself and everyone here at GOG and we wouldn’t be having this release today if it wasn’t for you! :)

IAmSinistar: Very glad to do it, and I am delighted that the game made it here! Solid gaming gold for us old-timers to enjoy again and for new-comers to experience the pleasure of for the first time. That's a big part of what makes GOG so great!
Definitely, this is one I remember hearing a lot about but never had a chance to play myself, going into the cart and hoping to get to play it later today!
Now that I know the story behind this game coming here I must buy it. Sinister should get some free games for this. :)
No chance the 1984 original could be thrown in as a downloadable extra for the curious and the completeists though?
Well SOMEBODY had to say it...

Considering that it didn't even come out for DOS, according to Moby Games, I highly doubt it.
Oh hey, I remember this game. I never really got into it, buy my Dad LOVED it.

Nah, it's just Mobygames being weird - for some reason they call old, bootable floppies that by-pass DOS so they can optimise resources 'PC Booster' even though if you google 'PC Booster' all you get is Windows 'tune-up' snake-oil apps

I'm pretty sure This Version would work in DOSBox:

Unless someone knows what else 'PC Booster' might mean?

It's Booter not Booster. It means the PC has to boot from the floppy disk and will immediately start the game. Like with many Amiga games.

It's Booter not Booster. It means what you just said: PC bootable floppies.

OMG no wonder I couldn't google it! I knew what it was but I always read it as Booster!
But DOSBox CAN do bootable floppies - right?
I'm pretty sure quite a few old games on GOG must be listed as PC booter on Mobygames...

Heard the title in numerous places but haven't ever seen or played it. Looks awesome, though. Judging by some of the reactions this seems to be a fantastic release. :)

Seems like it. Haven't gone through the list yet, but already see Archon: The Light and the Dark (me want).
