We're ridin' dirty, we're ridin' dirty...

Screamer 4X4, a rugged off-road racing game where 4WD is king, is veering off the the well-traveled track and heading out into the wild for a clean $5.99 only on GOG.com!

YEEEHAAAAAW! We're finally going out where we can let our hair down and get dirty! There ain't nothing like driving in low gear with your differential locked as you try to bypass those dadgum trees on the second curve of what could be loosely termed as a racetrack. Shoot, son, this isn't another one of those "oh, he made ANOTHER left turn" racing games! You gotta get your hands dirty as you race through painstakingly modeled terrain and realistic 4WD (4 wheel drive for those not in the know) handling. Choose from a variety of racing modes--Free Drive, Championship, or Trophy--and play solo or against your friends in LAN multiplayer.

Get the hell off the tarmac and get your dirt on in Screamer 4X4, for only $5.99 now on GOG.com!
Another one for the wishlist, but I like a good racer.

IronArcturus: Is there an option to run the game in windowed mode?
Ingame: no

Atm I'm trying to force it manually. We'll see if it works.

ShadowWulfe: I remember someone complaining the other day that GOG doesn't get enough of them.
It's-a-me! :-p
Is there a list of the supported video resolutions for the game?
nice! while i appreciate an off-road racer i'd really like to see dirt 1 or 2 here!

come on, codemasters if you guys see this.
would help popularize the franchise to some who might buy future releases retail...or errr i don't know just get them here please. :)

nglide: 640x480, 800x600
opengl: 640x480 up to 1920x1080 (cannot say if higher resolutions are possible)

(widescreen not supported, will be stretched // menu always rendered at smaller resolution)

So the OpenGL mode still supports the 3D graphics? Or can you only see those graphics in nGlide mode?
Sry, I don't get it. Maybe it's easier if you just take a look at those screenshots:
OpenGL@1920x1080 // OpenGL@800x600 //Glide@800x600

Thanks for the screenshots! It looks like the Glide mode will make the trees look a little bit more realistic. But it's nice to know the OpenGL mode still can use the hardware for 3D graphics.
More than anything I love the alternate version of 100 mile high city in the trailer!

Serpico: Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? :P

zeffyr: You're right :) We'll call it a draw then :)
Really? I thought the German titles were way worse (and thus way more funny) than the Polish ones. Most of the Polish ones actually made sense. The German titles were almost as bad as Chinese titles. :)

And I never heard of that "speck of sawdust" saying until yesterday when I heard it in a TV show and now I run into it again. Weird!

Well, yeah, I admit that some of the German titles really had me scratching my head in bewilderment. The Polish ones are not as bad in comparison - some of them are not even that bad in themselves, but I find it hilarious how a poor decision on the translator's part ended up affecting the entire series in certain cases. The best example is the "Die Hard" series. The first movie was translated into Polish as "Szklana pułapka" (Glass Trap), understandably enough since the action takes place in the Nakatomi Plaza, a huge skyscraper made of glass in which terrorists trap a number of hostages. But then the sequel came out and the action moved to the airport - meaning no more skyscrapers and making the Polish title extremely confusing. I guess by the time the third movie came out (taking place in New York City as far as I can remember) they said screw it and decided to stick with their choice to the end, since the newest movies are also named "Szklana pułapka". At least they were consistent.

Wow, Glide completely lacks mipmapping. I think I'd rather play OpenGL. But the graphics in general don't look good for a 2000 title.

Shouldn't there be a D3D mode as well?

There is an D3D-EXE in the folder, but for me D3D doesnt work.
The only problem with Glide is that it's only capable of 4:3 resolution, which means horizontal stretching or letterboxing.
