Here's to new beginnings!

Risen, a robust fantasy action-RPG from the Piranha Bytes studio, the developer behind the classic Gothic games, is now available 60% off on GOG.com. That's only $3.99 for the next 48 hours to start a new epic adventure!

It all begins on a mysterious volcanic island. The heavy tremors on the island bode ill for its inhabitants. Ancient temples have risen from the ground recently, bizarre creatures are terrorizing the area. Fear and terror is spreading among the population. Is it the end of all hope? A group of powerful men who call themselves "The Inquisitors" have taken it upon themselves to put an end to these events. They send an expedition to this remote island, but a storm takes hold of the ship and destroys it at sea. It was foretold that a hero will come, and the fate played its marked cards to set the events in motion. As if by a miracle, you survive the shipwreck and are stranded on the volcanic island alone. You find yourself amidst a chaos of rebellion, tyranny, and mystic rituals. It is up to you to decide to which side the pendulum of fate will swing.

In the epic world of Risen, filled with mysterious earthquakes, fearsome monsters, and unimaginable treasures, forge your path with the sword, learn the art of staff fighting, or become a powerful mage. Delve into a gritty, raw, and atmospheric fantasy world in which every action has a consequence. The game comes from the German Piranha Bytes studio, the team who brought us all three classic iterations in the fan-favorite Gothic Series. Do you want to see how the creators of one of the most acclaimed RPGs could do with the power of the modern gaming machines? Now you can, and with the 48-hour special launch offer you'll be amazed by the value you get for just $3.99 of your money.

With the addition of Risen to our DRM-Free catalog, we welcome a new publisher, Deep Silver, onboard GOG.com! There's no better way to start a new beautiful friendship, than with an epic RPG, especially when it comes with a 60% launch discount, that will be available until Saturday, April 5, at 9:59AM GMT.
Lot of people looking forward to this, I've heard good things as well. I have a steam copy an of course never got around to playing to so I'll pick this up to mature in my games backlog. I hope game are like whiskey and get better with age, because the backlog isn't getting shorter.
Have it on Steam. Might get it here as well. We'll see. But it is good to know that Deep Silver games are part of the GOG.com catalogue.
Congrats GOG on signing up with another great publisher - I hope more Risen games will come here and Metro series too later on!!
Amazing game! thanks gog for bringing this game here :D
I remember playing the demo and thinking it was a bit bland. However, I bought Risen 2 Dark Waters and really enjoyed it. Maybe I should give this one another chance.
Great release (good game and good bonuses) with a great price ! Well done, GOG.
Hmm... So what's the character limit on reviews (and why is there one)? Tried to submit the one I wrote back when I played it, minus the parts about TAGES, which obviously no longer apply here, and some speculation about Risen 2, and then also slashed the introduction after it first told me it's too long, but still no go.

Didn't have any for games released on here before, so first time I try to post one...
Awesome :) Thanks.

I had to laugh at the guy complaining that he wanted a retail box AND Steam features. Some people really do want the world on a stick sometimes! *g*

Grargar: Metro, Sacred 2, Saints Row and Dead Island.
Actually, Sacred 2 probably won't happen. This is because Deep Silver are convinced they don't have the distribution rights for Japan. So when they re-released it on Steam a while back in a fixed form, it was regionally restricted for us T_T

JudasIscariot: Our version is patched to version 1.11, which removes the last vestiges of DRM from the game AND it has the changes from version 1.10 as well :)
So it should be fine with the unofficial patch?

Yeah, I've seen a handful of posts like this (there was one on Amazon for example). Very weird, but I just hope those nutjobs won't make DS change their minds I certainly wouldn't put it past them.

But it just proves to me that constant whining and bitching certainly does have it's effect - Steam was basically the only topic on the worldofrisen.de board for years.

I guess? You'd have to look at the info on the unofficial patch's page :)

And they'd be right. The publishing rights for Sacred 2 in Japan lie with Dwango.

There are a few other Deep Silver games that DS has gone through Spike Chunsoft/Dwango for Japanese publication - Dead Island and Metro 2033 as far as I'm aware - but I don't know what the rights situation is with them.

But I'm guessing 1.11 is something just you guys made though right?
